TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (Trussville Tribune) — Eddie Seal, who twice served as president of the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce and was the former owner of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, has passed away. He was 74.
Seal was a pillar of the community and through his life offered support to countless families in their times of grief.
He was active on numerous boards and service organizations including the chamber, the Trussville Gas & Water Board, the Trussville Redevelopment Authority, the Alabama Board of Funeral Service, and Faith Community Fellowship Church.
'I've known Eddie for probably 30 years, our daughters cheered together in high school, and I just consider him a great friend and mentor. I'm just heartbroken over the loss,' Councilor Alan Taylor said.
'He did so much good in our community, he was just a true servant and we're gonna miss him. Trussville is gonna miss him because whenever something needed to be done he was always there and he was always a part of it and he's just gonna be missed, and I'm gonna miss him as a friend.'
He was also a longtime member of the Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club where he served as president from 2015-16 as well as in other roles.
The club posted on Facebook, 'In Rotary, Eddie's leadership and passion were unmistakable. He helped raise significant funds through projects like Smokin' 'n Stokin', brought in new members, chaired key committees, and crafted a 5-year strategic plan that shaped the future of our club. He also proudly recognized outstanding students and teachers during his presidency and welcomed respected community leaders to our podium—from Coach Josh Floyd to Congressman Gary Palmer.'
The tribute continue, 'But more than titles and accolades, Eddie was kind. He was thoughtful, sharp-witted, and always looking for ways to serve others. He loved Trussville. He loved Rotary. And we loved him. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Barbara, Brian, Adam, Lauren, and all of Eddie's family. We will deeply miss his presence, but we will carry his spirit of service with us always.'
Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith arrested
In January, Seal received the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award from Mayor Buddy Choat during the chamber's Toast of the Town for his years of service to the community.
'Eddie was not only a close friend, but when I think of Trussville, I think of Eddie because of everything he's been involved with in Trussville and how much he loved the city and doing things to help the city,' Mayor Choat said.
'I feel for his family. It's a shock to all of us and we can only keep the family in our prayers as they go through this very tragic time for them, but Eddie Seal has meant a lot, not only to me personally, but to a lot of people in Trussville and he will be missed.'
He was also a member of Leadership Trussville's Class 2 with the organization posting, 'Eddie was the embodiment of servant leadership—humble, kind, and always ready to lend a hand. From serving on local boards and actively supporting the Trussville Daybreak Rotary Club, to quietly showing up with a grill and a smile for community events and first responders, Eddie gave of himself in countless ways. He was a friend to all and a light in every room. There are no words to fully express the loss we feel. Our hearts go out to his family and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Eddie's legacy of service and compassion will forever be a part of Trussville.'
Tribune Publisher Scott Buttram added, 'You may meet someone who loved Trussville as much as Eddie, but you'll never meet anyone who loved Trussville more. He continuously poured himself into his family and his community. I think he led almost every service organization in town at some point. Eddie thrived on serving others.'
His visitation will be held at Faith Community Fellowship from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 13. The service will start at 1 p.m.

'The Gentlemen' season 2: Everything we know so far

"The Gentlemen" season 2 will see Guy Ritchie's raucous black comedy-drama returning to Netflix for more slick fun. Conceived as a spin-off from Ritchie's 2019 movie of the same name, "The Gentlemen" introduced us to Eddie Horniman (Theo James), an English aristocrat who unexpectedly inherits the Halstead estate after his father's death. After discovering a cannabis farm run by Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) on the grounds, Eddie discovers his new title (Duke of Halstead) brings plenty of drama. What followed was a classic Ritchie caper: a chaotic, violent, and occasionally ridiculous descent into criminality that saw our upstanding Duke teaming with Susie to keep the business (and his family) afloat and out of danger. It might not be "Wednesday" popular, and hasn't quite crept into the streamer's all-time top 10, but "The Gentlemen" was reasonably well received, was a No. 1 show around the world, and it spent no less than 10 weeks in the streamer's Top 10 charts. A return to the Halstead Estate certainly felt possible, and in August 2024, Netflix finally gave us the good news: "The Gentlemen" would be back. Here's everything we know about "The Gentlemen" season 2 right now. Unfortunately, we don't have a release date for "The Gentlemen" season 2 just yet. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The series was renewed back in August 2024, with confirmation that filming would begin in 2025 (via THR). Recently, Netflix confirmed that filming on the new series had finally gotten underway... which likely means we won't be seeing more from the Halstead lot until 2026 at the earliest. Hopefully, we'll get an update soon. Need something to watch while you wait for "The Gentlemen" season 2 to arrive? Be sure to check out our round-up of the best Netflix shows for more streaming recommendations to keep you occupied. Another round, Captain? The Gentlemen will return for Season 2. 14, 2024 When the show was first renewed in August 2024, we only knew that Eddie Horniman (Theo James), ruthless gangster Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario), and Eddie's unpredictable brother, Freddy (Daniel Ings), were due to return. Thanks to that production update we mentioned earlier, we know who else will reprise their roles and the identity of a few new faces who've joined "The Gentlemen" season 2. The returning cast also includes the following: And here's all the new names stepping into the frame for "The Gentlemen" season 2: Thankfully, we don't have to do much guesswork on this front, as Netflix has already shared a synopsis that gives us a clear idea of what to expect from the show. It reads: "It's been one year since Eddie and Susie joined forces to work together in Bobby's criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound. Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well..." Speaking with Tudum, Ritchie teased higher stakes and let slip that the show's going to move beyond the borders of England's lush countryside. "I am delighted to return to set for Season 2 of "The Gentlemen"," Ritchie said. "This chapter sees a deliberate expansion, both geographically and thematically, as we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes. "Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they're besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players. The stakes are heightened, the power dynamics are more precarious, and I'm thrilled to be collaborating once again with this exceptional cast and crew," he adds. It's not a trailer, as such, but when production was confirmed, Netflix did treat us to a short clip from "The Gentlemen" season 2 set that saw Theo and Kaya kicking production off with a bang, but it doesn't give much away about the new season. Oi, behave. The Gentlemen Season 2, starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, is NOW IN PRODUCTION. 28, 2025 With filming only just underway (at the time of writing), I wouldn't expect to see "The Gentlemen" season 2 trailer anytime soon. Keep checking back, though, as we'll be sure to share any footage here.

Altoona Rotary club awards more than $20K to high school students

ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — After graduating from high school, more than a dozen students are receiving help for their post-secondary education. The Rotary Club of Altoona awarded 18 high school graduates with scholarships during a meeting on Tuesday at the Blair County Convention Center. The club meets weekly, but awards scholarships annually. 'We send an application out to all the school districts, and we ask them to tell us a little bit about themselves. What do they want to do? What college are they going to, you know, what are their future dreams?' Phyllis Baker, Scholarship Coordinator for the Rotary, said. The money can be used for anything that the student needs, including textbooks, tuition or even a car. This year, the 18 students who were selected received a total of $21,000. Each scholarship amount is based on the needs of the student. Miracle League of Blair County to host 'Cow Patty Bingo' at Lakemont 'You know, service above self. The Rotarians believe that everybody is worthy of our help. We make sure that not only the students, but we do other things throughout the community and Altoona, in which we feel that there's a need. And we will always step up, because it is fair to all concerned that we provide the need to our community,' Baker said. Fred Thursfield, President of the Rotary Club, said many of the students have returned to work and become meaningful members of the community. 'I think in today's world, having scholarships or financial aid packages for students has become increasingly important. And of course, the scholarships we give out can be used for anything by the students. Having grandchildren of my own, either in college or getting ready to enter, you need it for computers. You need it for clothes. You need it just to prepare for college,' Thursfield said. Since the Altoona Rotary started awarding scholarships 21 years ago, they've given out $500,000 in scholarships.
