CPM alleges ‘massive' scam

Addressing the gathering, Babu Rao and Kasi Nath sharply criticised the government's actions. 'Betraying the people of Andhra and pledging their lands and public assets to foreign companies is an act of treachery,' they stated.
They dismissed the claim that Lulu Mall would create hundreds of jobs, arguing it was 'inhumane' to destroy the livelihoods of thousands of small traders in the process.
The CPM also raised concerns about the alleged gifting of a Rs 25 crore municipal land in Brindavan Colony to the Raghavendra Math, stating that 'Vijayawada is gradually being put up for sale.' They questioned if 'wealth creation' meant handing over government and public wealth to foreign corporations.
They deemed it illegal for the government to forcefully acquire public land for metro and other public transport systems in Vijayawada, while simultaneously giving away RTC lands at 'dirt-cheap prices' to multinational corporations.
They urged the public to mobilise for the protection of public assets and called on the government to reconsider and withdraw its proposals to allocate land to the Lulu Group.

Memorial to honour Assam Movement martyrs nearing completion: Bora
1 2 3 4 Guwahati: The 'Swahid Smarak Kshetra and Udyan', a memorial dedicated to honour the martyrs of the 1979-1985 Assam agitation against Bangladeshi infiltration, is nearing completion in Guwahati, minister Atul Bora said on Sunday. Speaking to reporters about the ambitious Rs 100-crore project, Bora said, "The first phase of the proposed Swahid Smarak Kshetra has been completed at a cost of Rs 95 crore, with construction of the main statue building now finished.". He added the ground floor of the structure will house statues of 860 martyrs of the Assam Movement, which will be known as the "hall of fame." Bora further said the main statue building will be the sixth tallest in the world, a point of great pride for the state. "Over 800 people lost their lives during the movement and this memorial is our way of paying tribute to their sacrifice." The minister further said the second phase of the project will include the construction of an auditorium, with a seating capacity of 500 people, along with a gallery equipped for a light and sound show that can accommodate up to 1,000 people. Bhopal, July 27 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inspected the under-construction Bhopal Metro on Sunday and expressed hope that the priority corridor from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS will become operational by October this year. He said the test run of the Bhopal metro is underway, and the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) has completed the inspection. 'The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will soon inspect the metro works. Once the CMRS gives clearance, the priority corridor of the Bhopal Metro will be opened for public transport,' he added. Yadav stated that the Bhopal metro project is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 6,941.40 crore. The priority corridor from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS is being built at a cost of approximately Rs 2,225 crore and is nearing completion. 'Our target is to start metro operations on this priority corridor by October 2025. The roadmap aims to fully operationalise both corridors- orange and blue lines- before 2030,' he said.
