Dalit Bay Nautica Carnival Launch Anchored by Culture, Collaboration and Global Maritime Vision

KOTA KINABALU: The Dalit Bay Nautica Carnival (DNBC) 2025 was launched Monday, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here in an effort to promote more coastal potential in Sabah. The launch was officiated by Pantai Dalit Assemblyman Datuk Jasnih Daya, said a sustainable and prosperous future driven by culture, commerce and connectivity is being built through the Dalit Bay Maritime Economic Development Plan 2026–2030.
Advertisement He said DBNC will not only redefine Tuaran's coastal potential but also position Sabah as a serious player in international nautical tourism. 'This initiative marks the beginning of a long-term transformation for Tuaran and Beyond,' he said. DBNC Chairman cum The Genuine Brands Managing Director Prof Dr Jeffery Yap said the carnival is designed to bring visitors, economic activity and international exposure to Tuaran. He said it is not just an event but a movement to place Tuaran on the global coastal map. 'Through multi-stakeholder partnerships and ESG-based planning, we are elevating this region with authenticity, strategy, and long-term value,' he said. Jeffrey said the three-day carnival, scheduled to run from 25 to 27 July, is organised by The Genuine Brands in collaboration with Sail Malaysia. He said the event aims to bring in 29 yachts from 16 countries under the Tuaran Rally, alongside local highlights such as the Oyster Royale MasterChef Competition, the Sea Dragon Cup and a Meet and Greet with Unduk Ngadau and Mr Kaamatan 2025 winners. Sail Malaysia Managing Director Sazli Kamal Basha said the organisation brings over a decade of international sailing expertise. He said they are proud to serve as the official maritime partner of DBNC 2025. 'Through the Tuaran Rally and our international network, we are bringing yachts, exposure, and economic momentum to Sabah,' he said. Kota Kinabalu: Members of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sabah Branch gained valuable insights into critical telecommunications infrastructure during a technical visit to the TM Tanjung Aru Cable Landing Station, Thursday. The half-day visit provided a platform for engaging discussions on emerging technologies and challenges facing the telecommunications sector, while offering participants a firsthand look at the sophisticated systems that power Malaysia's digital connectivity. Station Manager Mohd Ghazali Mohd Azim briefed the engineers on the facility's crucial role in supporting national and regional communications. He detailed the station's infrastructure and the comprehensive measures in place to ensure network resilience and security. The facility serves as a vital submarine cable landing site, connecting international subsea fibre optic cables to Malaysia's terrestrial network. This strategic location enhances regional connectivity and supports high-speed internet, data and voice services for both residential and commercial users across Sabah and neighbouring areas. General Manager of Network Sabah at Telekom Malaysia, Husni Rizal Syahriansyah, hosted the visit, which was coordinated by IEM Sabah Branch Executive Committee member Leona Ng. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to observe the complex operations that underpin Malaysia's digital infrastructure. Sepanggar welcomes Singapore shipping route

Kota Kinabalu: Sapangar Bay Container Port (SBCP) welcomed the maiden call of the Ji Yun 16, operated by Warisan Shipping Line under its newly launched Singapore Express Service. The service connects Muara – Sapangar – Singapore – Muara on a regular schedule, providing direct and efficient access between these key ports. With a carrying capacity of 1,118 TEUs, the Ji Yun 16 made its arrival at SBCP on 12 August 2025, officially marking the start of this new regional connection. The Singapore Express Service provides a direct call to Singapore, further expanding the port's service network. Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd's Group Managing Director, Datuk Ng Kiat Min, said, 'Direct connectivity between Sabah, Singapore, and Brunei is essential to strengthening regional trade flows. The Singapore Express Service offers exporters and importers a reliable and efficient shipping option, improving transit times and supporting the movement of goods within the region.' Datuk Ng added, 'We are pleased to collaborate with Warisan Shipping Line in introducing this new service. We look forward to building a long-term partnership that will enhance containerised trade through SBCP and contribute to Sabah's economic growth.' The addition of the Singapore Express Service reinforces SBCP's role as a strategic gateway for East Malaysia, providing greater flexibility and connectivity for the logistics sector.
