Trump orders nuclear submarine deployment after provocative Russian comments

Roya Newsa day ago
US President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of two American nuclear submarines to "be positioned in the appropriate regions" in response to what he called "highly provocative" comments from former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
The directive was announced by the President on Friday.
The deployment order follows a war of words between Trump and Medvedev, who is now deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council. Medvedev had recently issued public statements, which included references to Russia's Soviet-era automated nuclear retaliatory capabilities, in response to a deadline Trump had given Moscow to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine or face new sanctions.
In a social media post, Trump stated that he acted "just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that." He added, "Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences, I hope this will not be one of those instances."
Trump did not specify whether the submarines were nuclear-powered or nuclear-armed, nor did he state the exact locations of their deployment, in line with US military protocol.
The US President later told reporters that a threat had been made that was "not appropriate," and that he had to be "very careful." He added, "When you talk about nuclear, we have to be prepared. And we're totally prepared."
This deployment is being viewed by some security analysts as a rhetorical move rather than a new military action, as US nuclear-powered submarines are routinely on patrol. However, it marks a significant escalation in the public rhetoric between the two nuclear-armed nations.
The US Department of Defense has not issued a public comment on the matter, and the Kremlin has not yet officially responded.

Massive blaze erupts in Russia after Ukrainian drone strike on huge oil depot

ALBAWABA - Russian emergency officials say that a Ukrainian drone strike caused a big fire to start at a major oil store in Russia's Krasnodar region early Sunday morning. The store can hold 2,000 cubic meters of stuff and is in the Adler area of Sochi, a vacation city. Also Read 'Our Weapons Stay': Hamas rejects reports of willingness to disarm Governor of Krasnodar Veniamin Kondratyev stated that more than 120 firefighters were sent to put out the fire. He said that the attack was part of a pattern of Ukrainian strikes on Russian infrastructure, which Kyiv sees as important to Moscow's war operations. Through Telegram, Russia's Ministry of Defense said that overnight, its air defenses stopped 93 Ukrainian drones, including 60 over the Black Sea and one above Krasnodar. However, the ministry's report only talked about the drones that were shot down and not the ones that were launched. Russia's airport body (Rosaviatsia) said that because of the attack, planes at Sochi International Airport were temporarily stopped for safety reasons. Operations started up again at 2:00 AM GMT. Ukraine Says It Will Do Targeted Attacks Later, Ukraine's Armed Forces revealed that the drone attack was part of a larger plan to target key Russian assets with precise strikes. The attacks were a direct response, according to the General Staff, to recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian towns that killed many people. Last week, the Russian government banned gasoline exports to curb shortages and record prices. It didn't stop price now Ukraine is destroying the very refineries that make that gasoline. Overnight, Sochi and Adler.

Iran's secret weapon to 'cripple Israel' revealed: WaPo

American and 'Israeli' strikes against Iran in June have reportedly delivered a significant blow to Tehran's advanced weapons programs, most notably the development of a sophisticated "electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapon". This device was purportedly designed with the specific intent to "cripple Israel electronically", according to a report by The Washington Post based on 'Israeli' sources. The 12-day war targeted Iran's efforts to develop two distinct types of nuclear warheads: a standard fission warhead and a more complex fusion warhead, the report added. Beyond these nuclear ambitions, the military campaign significantly degraded Iran's ballistic missile arsenal, with approximately half of its estimated 3,000 ballistic missiles and 80% of its 500 missile launchers reportedly destroyed or rendered inoperable. An Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) is a powerful, instantaneous burst of electromagnetic energy, typically generated by a high-altitude nuclear detonation. Unlike conventional kinetic weapons, an EMP attack causes no direct physical damage to structures and no immediate loss of life. Instead, its destructive power is concentrated solely on electronic devices and equipment, rendering them inoperable. Dr. Lowell Wood, a nuclear weapons designer, describes the phenomenon as "really severe static electricity, everywhere, all at once". The potential impact of an EMP attack on critical infrastructure is catastrophic. Such an event could destroy a society's electronic systems, including the power grid, telecommunications networks, transportation systems, banking and finance, and essential services like food, water, and medical care. Iran's Revolutionary Guard reportedly advocated for the development of an EMP device as an "alternative to nuclear arms". The reported assassinations of Iran's top physicists and nuclear scientists, combined with the military strikes, are believed to have halted the development of both the EMP device and the fusion-warhead project. The damage inflicted upon these programs is described as extensive and difficult to reverse. However, the military operations also revealed an "unwelcome surprise": 'Israel' discovered that Iran possessed a larger-than-expected arsenal of solid-fuel missiles, which are inherently "more difficult to shoot down". A 'well-informed Israeli source' cited in The Washington Post claimed that "Iran is no longer a nuclear threshold state". While Iran still possesses uranium enriched to 60%, a level far beyond what is needed for civilian use, weaponization would now be extremely challenging, estimated to require one to two years if attempted covertly, with 'Israel' likely able to detect and destroy such efforts.

The Washington Post Refutes Trump's Claim of $60 Million Aid to Gaza - Jordan News

The Washington Post Refutes Trump's Claim of $60 Million Aid to Gaza The Washington Post has debunked former U.S. President Donald Trump's recent claim that the United States sent $60 million in humanitarian aid to Gaza, reporting that the actual amount delivered was only $3 million. اضافة اعلان In a report published Saturday evening, the newspaper stated that the amount of aid sent to Gaza in recent weeks is far less than what Trump publicly declared. According to regional sources and statements from the U.S. State Department cited in the report, only $3 million was transferred to the Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation, an organization that operates under the supervision of the U.S. and Israel. Trump had claimed: 'We sent $60 million in food aid to Gaza.' However, the report clarified that this figure was inaccurate, and that the State Department corrected the number twice, confirming that only $30 million was allocated—of which just 10% (i.e., $3 million) has actually been disbursed. Throughout the past week, Trump repeatedly stated that the U.S. had delivered $60 million in aid to Gaza, expressing frustration over what he described as a lack of gratitude from the Palestinians. Meanwhile, on Saturday, Gaza's Ministry of Health reported that 1,422 Palestinians have died from starvation while waiting for aid since May 27, with over 10,000 injured. (Source: Anadolu Agency)
