Scared of the Arizona State Sun Devils? Report says Big 12 cancels media poll
According to reporter Brett McMurphy, Big 12 athletic directors and coaches have decided to stop publishing the preseason media poll. The poll was comprised of sportswriters who cover the Big 12.

McMurphy said the preseason all-league teams will still be revealed moving forward.
Infamously, last season, ASU was picked to finish last of 16th schools before going on to win the conference. The Sun Devils demolished Iowa State 45-19 in the conference title game, earning the No. 4 seed in the College Football Playoff and a spot in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
ASU went 11-3 on the season, culminating with a double-overtime 39-31 loss to Texas in the quarterfinals of the CFP. The Sun Devils finished No. 7 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Big 12 joins the Big Ten as the only conferences not to have a preseason media poll.

There was a lot of speculation about where ASU would land in this year's poll, with a number of key starters returning and a strong showing in the transfer portal. Fans will have to wait for the release of the major top 25 preseason polls, which typically come out in August, to see where the Sun Devils stack up.

Nico Hoerner tripled leading off the game and scored on Kyle Tucker's groundout. Carson Kelly and Ian Happ hit run-scoring singles in the third around Dansby Swanson's RBI grounder. Super Bowl champion Ndamukong Suh announced his retirement from the NFL on Saturday. Suh, 38, last played in the NFL during the 2022 season, with the Philadelphia Eagles. The five-time All-Pro said he is "honoring" a wish from his late father by retiring. "July 12, 2024, was the hardest day of my life. It's the day I said goodbye to my father, the man who raised me, shaped me, challenged me, and believed in me before I believed in myself. He wasn't just a dad. He was my idol, my coach, and my anchor. He taught me what it meant to be disciplined, focused, and relentless in everything I do," Suh wrote on X. "Before he passed, he gave me one final piece of advice, 'It's time to let football go. You've done everything you set out to do. Now it's time for the next chapter.' That conversation stayed with me. So today, one year later, I'm honoring that wish. I'm officially retiring from the NFL." Suh was drafted by the Detroit Lions with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. The defensive tackle made the Pro Bowl in four of his five seasons with the Lions. Suh played five seasons with the Lions, three with the Miami Dolphins, one with the Los Angeles Rams, three with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and his final season with the Eagles. Suh was a member of the Buccaneers team that won the 2020 Super Bowl. Across the team's playoff run, Suh tallied 10 combined tackles and 1.5 sacks.
