Suspected drug traffickers nabbed in Melaka after 13km chase
Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the incident occurred at around 6pm on Tuesday (July 22) when a motorcycle patrol unit tried to stop a car at Taman Anika Apartments in Lorong Pandan here.
'The suspects sped off instead of complying, and my men gave chase,' he said on Wednesday (July 23).
He said the car was driven by a 26-year-old man, with his 28-year-old girlfriend in the front passenger seat.
"The man drove recklessly, ignoring red lights and endangering other road users.
"The chase ended at Taman Bukit Rambai, where the suspects suddenly reversed their vehicle and rammed a police motorcycle, causing minor injury to a lans koperal,' he said.
ACP Christopher said his men then detained the suspects with the help of five mobile patrol vehicle units.
'A search of the car uncovered two transparent packets believed to contain heroin, along with a weighing scale,' he added.
The suspects were taken to the Tengkera police station for further investigation and a remand order was obtained this morning, he said.
The case is being investigated under Sections 186 and 332 of the Penal Code for obstructing and causing hurt to a public servant, and under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking. Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel for breaking news alerts and key updates!

Johor cops call on the public to help find missing six-year-old
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a six-year-old boy who has been reported missing in Taman Bukit Indah near here. Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the police received a report on the child's disappearance at about 2.15am on Thursday (July 24). 'The report was lodged by the boy's father, a 36-year-old local man, who claimed that his son went missing near a kopitiam at Taman Bukit Indah. 'The missing child has been identified as M. Tishant, a Malaysian male aged six. He was last seen at the Tiong Nam kopitiam in Taman Bukit Indah,' he said in a statement here on Saturday (July 26). ACP Kumarasan added that Tishant is described as having a dark complexion, with a sharp nose, standing about 110cm tall and weighing around 19kg. He urged members of the public with any information on the child's whereabouts to contact the investigating officer, Insp E. Komaty at 010-381 2804. ACP Kumarasan said those with information may also reach out to the Iskandar Puteri district police control centre at 07-511 3622 or its hotline number at 07-511 4486. 'Our top priority is to locate the child and ensure his safety. We appreciate any assistance from the public to help reunite him with his family,' he added.

AGC to re-examine influencer's false report case
PETALING JAYA: The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) will re-examine the case involving a motoring influencer who lodged a false police report claiming to be missing which led to a massive search and rescue operation in Sungai Tui, Bukit Kepong just over a week ago. According to Sinar Harian, Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar said that although the court has already sentenced the influencer and his brother to one month in jail and fined them RM1,500, his office would conduct a thorough review of the charges and facts of the case. 'I cannot comment further at this point because sentencing falls under the jurisdiction of the court. 'But we will look into the matter again comprehensively — that's all I can say for now,' he told reporters after launching the Santuni Madani: Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung programme at SK Pulai Chondong near Machang in Kelantan on Saturday (July 26). On Friday, Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar at the Muar Magistrate's Court in Johor sentenced the accused, Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin, 38, better known as 'Ija,' and his younger brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, 30. They pleaded guilty to lodging a false report under Section 182 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of six months, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction. The case sparked public outrage among the influencer's followers and frustration among rescue personnel, including the Water Rescue Team (PPDA), whose divers carried out more than 10 high-risk dives in the murky river in search of the two men. Earlier, in an impact statement delivered in court, Fire and Rescue Zone 4 chief Senior Fire Superintendent II Norshuhada Amsari, who led the operation, described the accused's actions as an abuse of emergency resources. Duo jailed for stealing

Kota Kinabalu: Two men were jailed five months by the Magistrate's Court here for stealing from a rented room. Md Shidee Jubri, 35, and Md Yusrain Yusof, 42, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to stealing one unit of electric fan and two multi-purpose cookers belonging to Nur Ain Lo, at 4pm on July 11, in a unit at Padimas Point, Penampang. The duo was jointly charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and liability of a fine, on conviction. The facts of the case, as presented by the prosecution, stated that the complainant discovered the door to her rented room wide open on the said day, with her belongings in disarray. Further checks revealed several of her items and documents belonging to her sister were missing. Acting on intelligence, a team from the Penampang District Police Headquarters arrested both Shidee and Yusrain at 1.20pm on July 17 at a car park in front of ITCC Mall, Penampang, in connection with the theft. Investigations confirmed that the duo had broken into the complainant's room and stolen the said items, which were later recovered from their rented room. The duo were ordered to serve the sentence from the date of their arrest. In a separate case, a woman was fined RM1,300 or jailed one month for having gambling paraphernalia. Nur Shahirah Syamin pleaded guilty to buying two unlicensed 'Wah Hui' lottery tickets at 2.35pm on July 9 at Indah Permai, Jalan Sepanggar. The charge under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, carries a maximum fine of RM5,000, up to six months' jail, or both on conviction. The court found from the facts of the case that a police team conducted surveillance at the location and observed suspected illegal lottery activities before approaching a woman and uncovering paraphernalia related to the unlicensed Wah Hui lottery. The woman, later identified as Nur was arrested, and the gambling materials, including RM40 in cash, were seized from her. The court ordered the seized cash money to be forfeited as government revenue.
