Priyansh Arya looking to break trophy curse in Delhi Premier League season 2

Priyansh Arya has emerged as one of India's most exciting young talents, setting tournaments alight with his fearless strokeplay. From hitting six sixes in an over in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) to smashing a 39-ball century in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Arya has done it all except lift a trophy. Now, as he prepares for a fresh start with the Outer Delhi Warriors in DPL 2025, he's hoping to finally break the curse of lost in DPL 2024 season, Arya was unstoppable with the bat, racking up 608 runs in 10 matches for South Delhi. He rose to prominence during the tournament by hitting six sixes in a single over, a rare feat that instantly went viral. But when it came to the final, his team fell short. Coincidentally in IPL 2025, where Arya was a breakout performer for Punjab Kings with 475 runs, yet his team once again stumbled in the the jersey launch of his new team, Outer Delhi Warriors, Arya reflected on those tough losses and the challenge of delivering under pressure. 'There's no such change in the plan, It's just that our final match is a pressure match. So, the way we handle the pressure, it will work for our game.' he has become a recurring theme in Arya's young career. In last year's DPL final, he walked in at a crucial stage and managed only 6 off 2 balls. In the IPL 2025 final, despite a promising start, he could only muster 24 off 19. Numbers that don't quite reflect the impact he had throughout both tournaments. In both finals, he couldn't quite deliver the knockout punch, but his impact across the seasons was on his time with Punjab Kings and the influence of head coach Ricky Ponting, revealed a simple yet powerful piece of advice that guided him throughout the IPL 2025 season. It might sound like basic advice, but for him, rather than focusing on technical changes or forcing a new approach, Ponting reinforced the idea of sticking to what had already been working for him.'He told me to do what I have been doing till now," said of Gautam GambhirThe former Australian captain who has seen the highs and lows of cricket, understands the importance of a player's confidence and natural instincts in a game as unpredictable as T20 cricket. This reassurance to continue with his free-flowing style was a reminder that his strengths were exactly what the team Gambhir has also been a major influence on Arya growing up. Watching Gambhir's fearless and composed batting, especially in high-pressure moments like the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup final ignited his passion for cricket.'I have seen Gautam since childhood," he as he steps into the 2025 DPL season with the Outer Delhi Warriors, he is determined to channel the same resilience and big-match temperament that made Gambhir a legend. With his natural game backed by the confidence instilled by Ricky Ponting, his eyes are firmly set on breaking the trophy curse.- Ends

How Bengaluru's Scrite Is Simplifying Screenwriting In 11 Indian Languages

Last Updated: Bengaluru's Scrite app is helping writers across India script stories in their languages. Bengaluru-based software developer Prashanth Udupa created Scrite during the 2020 lockdown after experimenting with screenwriting as a hobby. He found that most available apps didn't support Indian languages or flexible writing styles. That is when he decided to build one himself. 'I can't write linearly. I wanted software that lets me write randomly, not scene after scene," says Udupa, as quoted by Moneycontrol. Scrite now supports writing in English and 11 Indian languages. It lets writers structure their screenplays in non-traditional ways, which many Indian creators find helpful. According to Moneycontrol, Udupa teamed up with Punit Thakkar and Kannada filmmaker Surya Vasishta to launch the app. It started with a free beta version in 2020 and later moved to a subscription model. Today, it has over 30,000 registered users, with many more using it without signing up. Scrite has gained popularity among filmmakers in multiple languages. Kannada writer Hemanth M Rao (Saptha Sagaradaache Ello – Side A), Malayalam editor-turned-director Saiju Sreedharan (Footage) and Gujarati filmmaker Krishnadev Yagnik (Vash) are among those using it, Moneycontrol states. Bollywood screenwriter Mayur Puri (Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year) is also a fan. 'A script isn't just a creative idea; it is an instruction manual for the whole team. Scrite simplifies that," he says. Reportedly, Puri wrote his directorial debut LAFIK on Scrite, a film showcased at Cannes this year. Tina Thomas, who writes in Malayalam, highlights how Scrite preserves language integrity. 'Other apps mess up Indian scripts. Scrite displays Malayalam exactly as I write it," she says. It is also more affordable than popular apps like Final Draft or Movie Magic, she adds, as per Moneycontrol. Why Scrite Stands Out Scrite connects storyboarding with screenplay text, something that is rare in most writing software. It includes helpful features like action-dialogue ratios, scene summaries, and character tracking, as mentioned in the publication. Writers can drag and drop story blocks, use templates like 'Save the Cat', and even generate production reports. The app also has a growing community that shares feedback and ideas to improve it. Educators like Anindya Sengupta and Deepanjjan Roy recommend Scrite for their film students, praising its accessibility and language support. 'Scrite makes the whole writing process feel native and smooth," says writer-director Abhaya Simha. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, Scrite is helping transform how scripts are written in India. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. After Chandrakant Pandit, Another High-Profile Name Leaves Kolkata Knight Riders: Report

Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun has been brought on board by Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) as their new bowling coach ahead of 2026 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sources tracking the developments have confirmed to IANS that Arun has joined LSG, who finished at seventh place in IPL 2025. 'Yes, it's confirmed that Arun is onboard LSG as their new bowling coach. LSG had been looking around for a world-class fast-bowling coach within Indian cricketing circles once IPL 2025 was done and they have finally got their wish,' further said sources on Wednesday. IANS has reached out to Arun for a comment on this, but didn't get a reply from him at the time of publishing. Arun moving on to LSG, captained by India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, also means his four-year stint as the bowling coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has come to an end. He had joined KKR ahead of 2022 season, where he was a member of the franchise's 2024 IPL-winning team. Arun leaving KKR comes just a day after the franchise parted ways with their head coach Chandrakant Pandit. IANS understands that apart from Arun joining the LSG coaching staff, there's doubts on future of head coach Justin Langer and mentor Zaheer Khan. 'It is understood that Langer could be out of the franchise, while talks with Zaheer are still happening,' added sources. Arun had two stints with the Indian team as their bowling coach - from 2014 to 2015, and from 2017 to 2021 T20 World Cup, where he played a huge role in shaping the fast-bowling revolution in the men's team. He was part of the India team that won the Under-19 World Cup in Australia in 2012, and also served as coach of Tamil Nadu, Bengal and Hyderabad teams in the domestic cricket circuit. Arun also spent time as bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL from 2015 to 2017.
