Furious Crystal Palace fans launch UEFA protest amid club's Europa League appeal
The demotion was due to a breach of multi-club ownership rules, specifically concerning co-owner John Textor's involvement with both Palace and Lyon.
Members of the Holmesdale Fanatics travelled to UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, to hand-deliver a letter to president Aleksander Ceferin demanding the ruling be overturned.
The fan group also presented UEFA with a suitcase of fake money, symbolising perceived contradictions in the organisation's values and conduct.
Following the protest, Palace lodged an appeal against UEFA, Nottingham Forest, and Lyon with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), with a decision anticipated by 11 August.

It's a frightening sight for Hibs supporters as the Danish side put on a six-goal show of force in preparation for their Europa League second qualifying round second leg against Hibernian on Thursday. Midtjylland faced Sønderjyske and showed no signs of letting up before their big European away day as they smashed six past their Superliga opponents. The player to watch at Easter Road this week will be hat-trick hero Franculino Dju after he scored two first-half goals and wrapped up a three-goal haul in the 75th minute from the penalty spot. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Hibs fans paying a close eye to their opponents may have started thinking about who they will be facing in the next round of the competition after Midtjylland fell behind in the first 10 minutes of the game but they ruthlessly fought back to embarrass the away side. In hindsight, this formidable attacking display could make David Gray's side's display in the first leg look even better after only conceding the one goal and bringing a 1-1 draw home, which leaves the tie evenly poised for The Cabbage to put on a big performance in front of the Hibees. Jamie McGrath's opener was cancelled out in the second half, but Hibs saw out their opponents' dominance in possession and only conceded once from the home side's 23 attempts. What the Hibs boss said after the first leg After the draw away in Denmark, Hibs boss David Gray reflected on what his side are striving to achieve: 'I think the league doesn't lie where we finished last season and this is the reward for that,' he said. 'Domestically, we competed extremely well last season. We've done well against Rangers and Celtic, which are elite teams and then can you go and mix it in Europe? And I include the staff within that as well. So it's where the club wants to be. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'That's very ambitious. The club wants to do that. The fan base, everything, is all geared up for this club to be successful and you need to enjoy these moments. But also you need to make sure you don't pass up the opportunity. So it's all to play for. That's all you can ask for.'

Spurs assessing extent of Destiny Udogie and Kota Takai pre-season injuries
Tottenham boss Thomas Frank has confirmed defender Destiny Udogie is being assessed for a knee problem which could make him a doubt for the start of the new season, while summer signing Kota Takai has suffered a foot injury. Left-back Udogie was withdrawn following the warm-up ahead of Spurs' friendly against Luton on Saturday, and then did not travel with the rest of the squad to Hong Kong for the week-long pre-season tour of Asia. Spurs face European champions Paris St Germain in the Super Cup on August 13 ahead of starting the new Premier League season at home to promoted Burnley. Frank, though, is likely to have to do without Italy international Udogie and revealed Japan defender Takai had picked up a foot issue. 'Destiny got a knee injury (in the warm-up at Luton on Saturday) that we are assessing at the moment, that has kept him out of this pre-season tour,' Frank said at a press conference in Hong Kong on Tuesday. 'Kota got a plantar fascia injury, unfortunately we don't know the scale of it – weeks.' The travelling squad for our pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Korea has been confirmed 📋 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) July 27, 2025 There was, though, more positive news on England forward Dominic Solanke, who missed the Luton friendly with a minor ankle issue, but has made the trip to Asia. Spurs are preparing for Thursday's north London derby against Arsenal at the Kai Tak Stadium before heading to South Korea to play Newcastle in Seoul on Sunday. 'Dom is looking much better, progressing,' Frank told SPURSPLAY. 'We will see if it is too early for Arsenal, but we are positive about him. 'Madders (James Maddison) is looking better and better, could also be too early for Arsenal, again, we will see. Rodri (Rodrigo Bentancur) is back from illness, so that's good.' Former Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou had to deal with several injury setbacks last season, which saw their Premier League season tail off amid a successful Europa League campaign. Frank, though, feels there can only be so much done to try to mitigate against picking up more fitness problems down the line. 'I know about the injury issues, but it is a problem for every club in the world,' Frank said at a press conference. 'We have a good and long pre-season so we can push the players, we are aware how we want to train, we need to be aligned on how we want to play and train. 'There are gym sessions, recovery and the ability to compete in all tournaments. We are aware and we will make a few adjustments so we can compete.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Son HeungMin(손흥민)🇰🇷 (@hm_son7) Frank again addressed issues over the future of captain Son Heung-min, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract and attracted interest from Los Angeles FC. 'Right now, Sonny is here and I'm very happy for that,' the Dane said. 'He has trained well. I said in the last press conference that he is showing great character. 'He played the last two friendlies. He is in the squad, he will train today (Tuesday). What I am focusing on is he is a Tottenham player.'

Bryan Mbeumo's leaked thoughts on Man Utd training under Ruben Amorim speak volumes
Bryan Mbeumo's genuine thoughts on training under Ruben Amorim as a Manchester United player have been unpacked following his £65million transfer to Old Trafford One week into life at Manchester United, and it seems as though Bryan Mbeumo 's eyes have been opened. The £65million signing from Brentford signed just in time to join his new club on their pre-season tour of the United States, but it hasn't all been easy. In fact, the winger has indicated that working under Ruben Amorim has been a significant step up in intensity. At least that was the impression United great Rio Ferdinand was under after recently bumping into the Cameroon international. Mbeumo, 25, was always liable to raise his standards in different areas after joining one of the biggest clubs in the world this summer. However, Ferdinand revealed the details of their recent catch-up stateside, where Mbeumo appeared somewhat taken aback following his first week of training under Amorim. "My man turned around and went, 'My God. Wow,'" said the Old Trafford icon on Rio Ferdinand Presents after he asked Mbeumo off-camera about the training so far this summer. "'Like an athletics club, man. It's hard. It's really hard.' "So don't ever let the fact these guys are going out and having down time make you think that these guys ain't working. They're working." That second comment was presumably in reference to some fans taking umbrage with United players putting their feet up at times in pre-season. However, six-time Premier League champion Ferdinand agreed it's important for squad members to strike a balance and be allowed to live normal lives amid the pressure of their on-field careers. It's a testament to the standards Amorim is demanding of his players during his first summer at the United helm. The former Sporting CP boss took over the Red Devils in November 2024 and will look to this summer as vital preparation to improve on a largely disappointing first term at the helm. It was back in January that Amorim referred to his United squad as "probably the worst team in the history" of the club after a 3-1 loss to Brighton. And despite reaching the Europa League final, where they lost to Tottenham, an all-time low finish of 15th in the Premier League would appear to confirm his appraisal. As well as Mbeumo, United also broke the bank to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5m deal. And just as Mbeumo has given the lowdown on what life is like under his new manager, Amorim has returned the favour by assessing the differences between his two new major arrivals. "[Cunha is] a top player, can play in different positions," said the United boss before their recent 2-1 friendly win over West Ham. "He's really loud in the dressing room. He's Brazilian. So I love that on him. "He's completely different from Bryan. Bryan is the opposite. So it's really fun to combine all the characters and the talent in the club." Cunha made his second United appearance in the win over Graham Potter's men. However, fans are still waiting to get their first glimpse of Mbeumo in club colours, which may come in Wednesday's Premier League Summer Series showdown against Bournemouth.
