AMMAN, Aug 13: Salwa Sports Club celebrated a major success at the Jordan International Open for Sons of Jordan, held in Amman from August 7–9. The tournament featured over 1,000 athletes from 10 Arab countries, and Salwa's taekwondo team secured nine medals across various categories.
Medal Winners:
Women's Category:
Shahd Al-Amri – Gold, under 62 kg
Mariam Hijazi – Silver, under 62 kg
Hawraa Al-Damkhi – Silver, under 53 kg
Girls' Category:
Al-Misk Muhammad – Silver, under 59 kg
Fatima Al-Zahraa – Bronze, under 55 kg
Nour Al-Ostadh – Bronze, under 55 kg
Juniors Category:
Ghalla Al-Assaf – Gold, over 59 kg
Zainab Al-Hawraa – Bronze, under 55 kg
Layal Al-Ghaib – Bronze, under 44 kg
In addition, Ghalla Al-Assaf was named Best Female Athlete of the Tournament, while coach Raed Mohammed Naji earned the Best Coach award for his leadership during both the camp and the competition.

CAIRO, Aug 12; Kuwait junior basketball team suffered a heavy 81-57 loss to Bahrain at the Cairo Stadium Complex, during the third round of the 22nd Arab Junior Basketball Championship. With this defeat, the Blues now have 4 points, earned from a win over Qatar and losses to Tunisia and Bahrain. Meanwhile, Bahrain remains unbeaten with three straight wins over Qatar, Algeria, and Kuwait, accumulating 6 points and leading the tournament. The championship features six Arab teams and will conclude with the final match on August 17.

Kuwaiti students bag 4 medals at 10TH Arab Chemistry Olympiad

AMMAN: The Kuwaiti students won a silver medal and three bronze at the ongoing 10TH Arab Chemistry Olympiad, being hosted in the Jordanian capital city of Amman. The championship, due to conclude tomorrow, Saturday, gathered representatives of 11 Arab countries, said Haifa Al-Adwani, supervisor of chemistry at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education. Ali Behbehani, grade 12 from the Academy Of Giftedness, won the bronze medal, she said in statements to three bronze medalists are Hala Al-Rashidi, grade 11 from Al-Rawdha High School; Zahraa Al-Haddad, grade 10 from Tolaitelah High School, and Ibrahim Al-Rashidi, grade 11 from Mohammad Najm High attributed the achievement of the Kuwaiti students to the continuous efforts of the ministry to foster the skills of talented students. The Ministry is keen on ensuring eminent performance of students at regional and international contests, she added. — KUNA
