6 Summer Dress Styles To Wear With Your New Boat Shoes

6 Summer Dress Styles To Wear With Your New Boat Shoes

Elle5 days ago

Boat shoes are proving themselves to be a top shoe trend of summer 2025.
The nautical shoe, whose most recent resurgence was catalysed by Miu Miu's SS24 collegiate collection, has almost replaced the loafer as most popular shoe in ELLE UK's head office thanks to its practicality and ease.

However, as we move into summer, and swapping out our denim jeans for dresses, some staff members are struggling with how exactly to style their boat shoes. With deck shoes' Indie Sleaze and Sloane-y overtones, they can be tricky to do right, that's why we've put together some outfit recipe suggestions to help.
From shirt dresses to silky slips, here are our suggestions. All you need to do is add a pair of slim socks and anchors away.
Take your boat shoes to the boardroom this summer with a shirt dress. Arket's striped cotton version will keep you cool through the warmer months, and can be layered over jeans and white vest come Autumn.
If you were wearing your boat shoes with denim jeans then a denim dress is a natural next step. Ganni's mini dress, complete with drop waist peplum, will give a girlish charm to your outfit.
Broderie Anglaise has to be one of the most whimsical fabrics to wear in summer, and this maxi sundress proves the point. Pair with an earthy-hued boat shoe (and maybe a suede jacket?) and you're living the boho dream.
If you enjoy the 'wrong shoe theory' then a dreamy slip dress paired with a formal boat shoe is the look for you. Mango's seafoam iteration would look great with some bunched up socks, a beat up bag and lashings of necklace and bracelet charms.
For those who typically avoid trends, try a minimal maxi dress, like this one from Cos, with a masculine-shaped, suede boat shoes. Pair with a blazer and you can take this outfit to the office.
When the weather turns, or you find yourself on a sunny isle miles away, consider a cotton voile nightie-style mini with you sun-bleached Miu Miu shoes. Some simple gold jewellery, sunhat and basket bag will complete the ensemble.

Dua Lipa's British Vogue Cover Might Just Be the Worst She Has Ever Looked…

Here at theFashionSpot, we need some convincing that Chioma Nnadi is the right fit at British Vogue. Nnadi ultimately succeeded Edward Enninful, and became the magazine's head of editorial content in 2023. As a result, we've suffered terribly with a series of lackluster and underwhelming covers starring the likes of Zendaya, Sophie Turner, Kylier Jenner, and Tyla (to name just a select few). Last month, there was a slight reprieve from the mediocrity, as Bella Hadid posed for Steven Meisel. Up next (making a return) on the cover of British Vogue is Dua Lipa. The London-born Albanian singer and songwriter is profiled by David Sims for the occasion, complete with Camilla Nickerson reporting for styling duties. In the quirky cover shot, the Chanel brand ambassador dons blunt bangs, a Miu Miu bra, and a headdress from London-based milliner Nerida Fraiman. 'Gurl. Body looking good, face is also looking good but the bangs! Why?' immediately asked a dumbfounded thiago upon checking out the cover. 'Probably the worst she's ever looked in a photo. Congrats to the team cause that's quite the achievement,' remarked Marc10. 'This is David Sims? Vogue editors are the worst. Pretentious, meaningless and a lost opportunity. Dua's Vogue France was not great but was a much better approach,' voiced Xone. Also far from impressed was vogue28. 'Absolutely vile. What a seriously unflattering cover image! The styling from Camilla Nickerson is an abomination, the hair is horrific, and that headpiece is… stupid. To say I'm not a fan of this cover would be an understatement,' he declared. 'What on earth is this? I'm seriously perplexed at what I am looking at,' ReneSanchez echoed. 'AWFUL styling my gosh, and that hair was a choice. How can they manage to make her look so bad?' quipped Betrando3. See more of Dua Lipa from the British Vogue July 2025 cover shoot and join the conversation, here. Sydney Sweeney's Back-to-Back Miu Miu Dresses Prove Opposites Attract

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Sydney Sweeney is a Miu Miu girl through and through. Sure, she's worn Vera Wang, Alexander McQueen, and vintage Givenchy on her Echo Valley press tour, but fans knew she'd come home to Miuccia Prada. On June 10, the brand ambassador did just that with back-to-back dresses. A few days after her Apple TV+ thriller's premiere in New York, Sweeney jetted off to London with her co-star, Julianne Moore, for the film's first European step-and-repeat. While it doesn't require method dressing, Sweeney does seem to be in her ethereal era, thanks to her stylist, Molly Dickson. Similar to her Vera Wang ballgown from June 4, Sweeney looked every bit a princess in mostly Miu Miu, starting with a bespoke icy blue dress. Sweeney's bodice was fitted with criss-cross straps meeting in a halter neckline and a triangular chest cutout. Multiple layers of silk organza made up the floor-length skirt, while a slightly-longer train flowed behind her. Given the design's intricate neckline, Sweeney skipped a necklace altogether. Instead, she popped on elongated diamond earrings, matching bangles, and rings courtesy of David Morris. Her voluminous skirt hid her footwear, but knowing Sweeney, she likely chose Jimmy Choo pumps to match the dress's cool-toned blue. Once the curtain closed on the London premiere, Sweeney slipped into something more comfortable for the after-party. To no surprise, it was another Miu Miu moment, this time from the atelier's public catalog. The princess vibes continued with a silk midi dress in pale pink. Her after-hours attire featured a bejeweled empire waistline à la Bridgerton, plus a smooth sheath skirt. If you have $13,000 to spare, you can shop her exact look. Extra points for her needle-sharp pumps, which matched the dress's shine to a T. View Deal The Euphoria star began repping Miu Miu in an official capacity in 2022—and has worn it for every press tour and fashion week since. While it's unclear where Sweeney and Moore will visit next, one thing's certain: Miu Miu is along for the ride.

Sea Inspired Jewellery Is What 2025's It Girls Are Accessorising With This Summer

If you're looking for ways to bring the feeling of a calming beach holiday into your everyday life then same, and we have a solution for you. For those whose most peaceful place is amongst the lapping of waves and clink of beach club cocktails, then consider incorporating sea-inspired jewellery into your everyday outfits. From organic-shaped rings and bangles, to freshwater pearl-adorned necklaces and sea-animal charms, Pandora's Summer and Essence collections will help imbue every ensemble with a serene marine feel. For a casual feel, try layering some of Pandora's iconic charms to one of their chunky bracelets, but if you're looking for a cleaner look, try styling one of the organic bangles over a long-sleeved top or shirt (just like Alexa Chung). While pearls can sometimes feel fussy, pairing them with natural shapes, turquoise and mixed metals offers a more relaxed vibe - just add a linen trouser set and this season's chicest leather flip-flops and you are as at home in the boardroom or the beach. Creative consultant, content creator and generally well dressed woman Julia Sokele agrees, telling ELLE UK: 'Pandora Essence collection is my summer signature – refined, effortless, and endlessly stackable. I reach for it daily to elevate even the simplest look. I'm loving the Rippled Wide Hoop earrings and Organically shaped rings – stacked together, they create a statement that feels both bold and elegant. I can't imagine summer outfits without them.' In fact, this summer it seems we're all a bit hellbent on bringing the ocean indoors and the beachside holiday with us: our favourite shoe styles are jelly fisherman sandals, flip-flops have become office appropriate and boat shoes are everywhere. As for our clothing, crochet dresses are fashion editor catnip and influencers are donning sailor collars at alarming rates. Something's in the water, that's for certain.
