Daily Mail09-05-2025

Prue Leith 's husband made a cheeky joke live on This Morning as the couple revealed how they met.
The Great British Bake Off star, 85, and her husband John Playfair, 77, sat down with hosts Alison Hammond, 50, and Dermot O'Leary, 51, on the ITV show.
Alison asked the couple, who wed in 2016, how they met and John was quick to make the quip, 'Geriatric Tinder '.
The presenters laughed while Prue interjected: 'That's the sort of thing he does all the time and people sometimes take him seriously.'
She then went on to reveal how they really met and explained it was at a friends house.
'I wasn't concentrating because I needed to leave and John was chattering away and I didn't concentrate and all,' Prue admitted.

The next day, John turned up outside Prue's house on a 'Harley Davidson trike' and Prue recalled, 'I said, "You're the guy I met last night."'
'So then we went for a walk around the field and then we came back into my house and he told me all about Alexander the Great…,' the chef added.
She joked: 'But do you know what, it's what's in peoples heads that's the most sexy thing which is just as good because he's not very good looking.'
The couple previously shared the details of the start of their relationship in a sweet moment on an episode of Loose Women last year.
The Bake Off star, who was married to her first husband nearly 30 years before his death in 2002, revealed she bolted from their first meeting at a dinner party.
Prue told how she was invited to a dinner party at a friend's house, but when she got there were two men and two women there, leaving her feeling like a gooseberry.
The TV personality said she made her excuses to leave her friend's dinner as quickly as she could and didn't anticipate what would happen next.
Prue revealed that the following day, John, 77, turned up on her doorstep as he admitted he instantly 'knew she was the one'.

John sweetly added: 'I new she was the one straight away', while Prue quipped:' 'I paid him to say that.'
Prue also said that her husband is the inspiration for some of her eye-catching outfits.
She said: 'Colour is influenced by you, we've been together for 12 years. I ask for John's advice and he always says no it's not enough bigger earrings or more colour.
'He [John] pushes me further. It's great because most women who hit 50 thing they have to wear grey and I think you need colour.'
When asked about their Valentine's Day plans, John coyly said he 'couldn't tell them about it'.
Prue started her career at the Cordon Bleu Cookery School in 1960 and went on to open her Michelin-starred restaurant Leith's nine years later.
After becoming a food columnist she began writing cookery books and novels, and now judges The Great British Bake Off.

Revealed: The top 12 TV shows that cause the most rows in Brits' homes

It is a row that is regularly played out in homes across the country – who gets control of the television remote. And it has emerged that the programmes most likely to cause a squabble are Match of the Day and Love Island. In a poll of 2,000 Britons, 17 per cent confessed to arguing over the football highlights show. Love Island was second on 13 per cent. Researchers found that 55 per cent regularly row over which TV show to watch. A total of 48 per cent said they often 'gave in' to their partner, but then went and watched their programme on their phone instead. Gina Allen, 33, of Watford, said: 'When Saturday comes round, I know that he [my boyfriend] will want to watch Match of the Day. 'I enjoy it too, but only if Spurs have won that day, which isn't often the case, so I prefer watching something on Netflix or Disney at that time of night.' She added: 'Now I have my own Saturday night shows that I watch without my boyfriend while he shouts and screams at the telly in the other room.' Saturday is the day when arguments are most likely to kick off, and 25 per cent of those polled confessed to hiding the remote control or taking the batteries out. One in ten also admitted telling their children that the TV 'stops working' at 5pm. A spokesman for Toshiba, which commissioned the survey, said: 'It's no wonder that 58 per cent of respondents say they own a second screen to reduce TV-related arguments.' Lawyer Henry Nelson-Case said: 'In the court of living-room justice, the battle for the remote is the ultimate trial by fire. 'I've seen less drama in actual courtrooms than when someone tries to switch off Match of the Day mid-match.'

Lorraine Kelly shows off her real bikini body as she admits ‘I've got a belly'

LORRAINE Kelly showed off her real bikini body on her breakfast TV show. The star host was discussing the worries regarding beauty filters on photographs and how they can be used to digitally manipulate and alter how people look. 4 4 Lorraine, 65, was discussing the subject with Jeremy Clarkson's daughter, Emily, who is known for her body positivity on social media. And the segment led to Lorraine showing off her own 'real' bikini body in which she admitted: "I've got a belly!" The star showed off her skin in the white two-piece snap taken as she took a dip in a swimming pool during a recent holiday getaway. In order to demonstrate just how easy it is to edit images, a side-by-side image of Lorraine's real body next to her altered bikini snap was flashed up on the screen. The edited image heavily slimmed down the star and added more definition to her stomach area as well as a much fuller bust and smoother skin. Laughing at the changes, Lorraine squawked: "It just shows you what you can do now. "It depends on what you're using it for. They did it with me, and I looked at it, and I actually laughed! "I thought, crikey!" Looking back at the unedited image, Lorraine quipped: "That's more kind of normal, I've got a belly, who hasn't?" The ITV star is no stranger to stripping off and regularly wears just a bikini for an open-water swim. Lorraine Kelly struggles to keep straight face in most bizarre interview to date In December last year, she proudly flaunted her figure as she took a dip in the cold Scottish sea. Her wild swim came as she celebrated the success of her novel, The Island Swimmer. 4 4
