Mohit Suri 'Walked Out' After Filming Saiyaara Scene: ‘Ahaan Panday Kisses Aneet's Forehead...'
Even three weeks after its release, Saiyaara continues to charm audiences at the box office. But for director Mohit Suri, the film's real triumph wasn't measured in collections—it was a deeply personal moment that occurred while shooting a quiet, emotional scene.
In a conversation with NDTV, Suri revealed that the most defining moment for him came during a piano scene set in Madh Island. Recalling the experience, he shared, 'We were shooting the piano scene, when she says something and he just kisses her forehead and he's leaving. When that shot happened, I just walked out of that… We were shooting in Madh Island, I walked out and Sumana, who's our creative producer, was on set, and I said, 'Sumana, I am making a very good film.'"
Suri is known for evoking raw, unfiltered emotions through his stories, and he admitted that the honesty brought in by the cast—Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda—moved him to tears. 'I cry on the monitor. I've cried quite a few times. But I don't like to talk about it because I've seen a lot of directors become mimics of themselves and cry when they don't need to," he added.
The Aashiqui 2 director noted that Saiyaara brought him back to his roots, his emotional core and his love for music. 'It feels relieved. The collections are an added bonus, no doubt, but it's the love that's so humbling," he said. 'When you put yourself into a film so much… and you've kept to the essentials, your voice, your emotions… It's amazing to see that India has accepted that."
Suri credited the film's producers for giving him the freedom to create without commercial pressure. 'They never gave me a number, never asked for a certain kind of opening or chartbuster. They just said, give us your best film, give us your best music," he said. 'That's what gave me the wings to fly, to be fearless."
He concluded by acknowledging producer Aditya Chopra's belief in the film from day one. That early trust, Suri said, gave him the confidence to tell his story his way.

Avatar Director James Cameron Issues Dire Warning About AI And 'Terminator-Style Apocalypse'
James Cameron has warned of a 'Terminator-style apocalypse' from AI, fearing extinction if AI accesses weapons. The filmmaker is currently making Avatar 3. James Cameron has warned that the world is on the brink of a 'Terminator-style apocalypse". The moviemaker has revealed his fears over the rise of AI in recent years and admitted it's possible for humankind to be left facing extinction if an artificial intelligence network is allowed access to weapons systems, as predicted in his 1984 sci-fi movie The Terminator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. He told Rolling Stone magazine: 'I do think there's still a danger of a Terminator-style apocalypse where you put AI together with weapons systems, even up to the level of nuclear weapon systems, nuclear defence counterstrike, all that stuff. Because the theatre of operations is so rapid, the decision windows are so fast, it would take a super-intelligence to be able to process it, and maybe we'll be smart and keep a human in the loop." 'But humans are fallible, and there have been a lot of mistakes made that have put us right on the brink of international incidents that could have led to nuclear war. So I don't know," he continued. Cameron went on to add, 'I feel like we're at this cusp in human development where you've got the three existential threats: climate and our overall degradation of the natural world, nuclear weapons, and super-intelligence. They're all sort of manifesting and peaking at the same time." Cameron recently signed an open letter calling for nuclear disarmament and his next film project is Ghosts of Hiroshima, based on the Charles Pellegrino book of the same name which tells the story of the atomic bomb blast in 1945 and its aftermath. The director recently admitted the movie might be the most 'challenging film" he's will lever make. Speaking to Discussing Film, Cameron explained, 'This might be the most challenging film I ever make. I don't 100 per cent have my strategy fully in place [right now] for how I want to see it, for how I want to shield people from the horror, but still be honest. Also, for how I can find some kind of poetry, beauty, or spiritual epiphany in it somehow, which I know must be there. It's there in every human story. So, it's going to be very challenging. I might not even be up to the task, but that never stopped me before." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
