A flag-hoisting ceremony is set to take place at the Ram temple in Ayodhya in November with thousands of special guests expected to attend and Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to be the chief guest.An official of the temple trust, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told PTI on Monday that the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust has shortlisted two dates in November for this significant event. Preparations for the ceremony are gaining momentum."Prime Minister Narendra Modi might be present as the chief guest on this auspicious occasion," the official said.According to sources within the temple, the Ram flag will be hoisted atop the 161-foot-high spire of the temple. In addition, flags will also be hoisted on the spires of all other temples within the complex, marking a major milestone towards the completion of the temple's construction.Anil Mishra, a trustee of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra told PTI, "The final programme is still being prepared. As soon as it is ready, it will be shared."Temple sources further told PTI that the flag-hoisting ceremony is expected to be as grand as the consecration of Lord Ram. The trust is preparing an extensive guest list that includes saints, religious leaders, distinguished dignitaries and devotees from across India and abroad. The trust estimates that thousands of guests will witness this second historic occasion following the consecration ceremony of the deity Ram Lalla.A senior official from the Ayodhya administration confirmed that preparations are in full swing to welcome the guests.The temple trust and the administrative machinery have started booking rooms in hotels, while arrangements are also being made in major dharamshalas and guest houses across the city, the official added.According to temple sources, astrologers are determining the most auspicious time for the ceremony in November. Discussions are underway to finalise one of the two proposed dates -- November 16 or November 25.The flag will be hoisted on the temple spire amid Vedic chants, music and special worship rituals. Several other rituals will also be part of the programme.A Ram Katha may be organised, and renowned musicians and artists from across the country are expected to perform, further enhancing the grandeur of the ceremony.

Cracks In Rs 500-Crore Project? Airport Wall Collapses After Rain In Madhya Pradesh's Rewa
Rewa, Madhya Pradesh: A section of the boundary wall of the newly-constructed Rewa Airport in Madhya Pradesh, built at a cost of Rs 500 crore, has collapsed barely months after completion, raising serious questions about construction quality and flood preparedness of one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the state. According to locals, the ground beneath the wall gave way due to heavy rainfall, causing a portion of the airport's outer boundary to crumble during the night. This is not the first time the boundary wall has failed - a similar breach was reported during the rains last year, even before the airport became operational. Rewa Airport was envisioned as a game-changer for the Vindhya region. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the project virtually from Varanasi, the airport was completed in a record 18 months on 323 acres of land acquired from five villages. The facility boasts a 2,300-meter-long runway and is currently operating two flights connecting Rewa to Bhopal via Khajuraho and Jabalpur. While it now handles only 19-seater aircraft, the plan is to scale up to 72-seaters in the coming months. The airport has been licensed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and was designed to serve the region for the next 50 years. But even before it could take off in full swing, its foundation had begun to sink, literally. In the past 24 hours, Rewa has received 8 inches of relentless rainfall. The Bichhiya and Bihar rivers, lifelines of the district, have overflowed, submerging large parts of the city. At least four localities along the riverbanks are now inundated, with three to four feet of water inside homes and shops. Shockingly, even the house of Gudh MLA Nagendra Singh was not spared. Speaking to reporters, Mr Singh said, "Rewa city has been turned into a pond. Unless the river is deepened and the floodplain is managed, this problem will continue year after year."

Looking to propel Uttar Pradesh's economy, Yogi Adityanath holds first meeting with EAG
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday held his first meeting with the Economic Advisory Group (EAG) and asked senior officers to act on its suggestions in a time-bound manner. The 16-member Economic Advisory Group (EAG) was set up by a state government order dated June 18, 2025. (HT FILE) Among its suggestions, EAG has proposed the launch of an IT Talent Mission to give a boost to software development and exports. EAG would help the state achieve the objective of making Uttar Pradesh a trillion-dollar economy, those aware of the development said. Welcoming EAG's inputs, the chief minister said 'Uttar Pradesh is on track to become the growth engine of India's economy. All departments are working in coordination, and the advisory group's suggestions must be implemented in a timely manner.' He mentioned that the state is promoting clean, sustainable, and modern public transport through the use of electric buses. Uttar Pradesh will soon become a hub for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, the chief minister added. A unit of the Hinduja Group, set up in the state, is expected to start EV production very soon. The 16-member Economic Advisory Group (EAG) was set up by a state government order dated June 18, 2025. It comprises leading experts from different sections of society to advise and make valuable suggestions to give a push to the state's economy under the changing scenario on the economic front across the world. The EAG made a presentation suggesting changes in the agriculture, transport, energy, irrigation and entrepreneurship sectors and lauded the progress made by the state government in the past eight years. 'The chief minister has asked for implementation of the EAG's suggestions. The EAG made over 10-20 suggestions and we will have to find ways about incorporating them in the government's policies,' a senior officer said. The chief minister mentioned that the Uttar Pradesh government has set up the Uttar Pradesh Rozgar Mission to create more job opportunities for the youth. This mission will start working soon. The chief minister said Uttar Pradesh is making significant strides in solar energy. He highlighted the recent inauguration of an 8,000 MW power plant in Kanpur by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and noted that all processes for renewable energy expansion are in place. The state aims to generate 22,000 MW of renewable energy by 2027. 'Uttar Pradesh will emerge as a national role model in green energy, with supportive policies driving self-reliance in clean power,' the CM said. Professor Nachiketa Tiwari of IIT Kanpur is the coordinator of the group. EAG has experts from the agriculture sector, labour intensive industry, defence, semi-conductor, power, energy, medical technology, hospitality industry, employment and the transport sectors. EAG will analyse short and long-term economic changes taking place at the global level and evaluate the impact of policy changes and global economic incidents on the state's economy. EAG has been tasked to extend cooperation in the formulation of the state's economic development policy and advise the state government about sector specific reforms and strategies for inclusive development of Uttar Pradesh. EAG will provide specialised guidance to the state government's various departments. It will work out a research-based report to give directions to a public debate on the main economic issues and policies on inequality, productivity and employment.
