And although you may be eager to transfer your home-grown veg onto your dinner plate, many pests have the same idea.
Rabbits can be a real problem in the summer, as they burrow in to your garden and attack your vegetable patch.
Some gardeners opt to plant flowers that are poisonous to rabbits, to keep them away, whilst others choose to place floating covers over their veg.
Fork hack
Sharing a more unique approach, one gardener took to Reddit to reveal the common household item he uses to banish the pests.
"Hey rabbits, fork you!" the gardener joked, sharing a snap of a multitude of forks placed into the soil around his vegetables, prong side up.
The post stunned Redditors, with one racing to the comments section to ask if the hack worked.
For the most part yes it works," he replied.
"They sometimes nibble around the edges but it makes it impossible for them to hop through.
"The forks saves me from having to make a rabbit-proof fence."
Other Redditors rushed to share their thoughts on the hack, with one commenting: "This is what I did for stray cats and then I bought some spike mats to go under the mulch and now nothing seems to bother my garden.

Another said: "My grandma always told me to hang tin pie plates from the garden fence.
"The wind pushes them, and they reflect and make noise. It makes the rabbits uneasy."
If you don't have any spare forks lying around, you can pick up cutlery from Wilko for as little as £1.49.
More pest busting hacks
If rabbits aren't your only pest problem, Jordan Foster from Fantastic Pest Control, has revealed the garden herb rats can't stand.
IF you want to ensure that your home is pest free this summer, here's what you need to know.
Hornets and wasps - hate the smell of peppermint oil so spraying this liberally around your patio or balcony can help to keep them at bay.
Moths - acidic household white vinegar is effective for deterring moths. Soak some kitchen roll in vinegar and leave it in your wardrobe as a deterrent.
Flying ants - herbs and spices, such as cinnamon, mint, chilli pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cloves, or garlic act as deterrents.
Mosquitoes - plants, herbs and essential oil fragrances can help deter mozzies inside and out. Try eucalyptus, lavender and lemongrass.
He revealed that the rodents find mint "very offensive" because of its very strong smell.
Therefore, to help deter rats you can plant some mint plants in your flower beds.
You can pick up a mint plant from Asda for just £1.
And if stray cats keep pooing in your garden, TikToker Becky revealed her tried and tested method for keeping them at bay.
She said: "Here's my number one tip if you, like us, have issues with neighbouring cats trying to use your lovely planters or pots as a blooming litter tray.
'Coffee grounds!"
"Apparently, the cats don't like the smell", she explained.

All the Middle of Lidl plants landing TODAY including £4 herb to repel creepy crawlies – as spider season arrives early

LIDL has its greenfingered customers covered with a new range of beautiful blooms for as little as £4. One of those plants is a herb that helps to keep spiders at bay during creepy crawly season. Whilst it's important to add that our eight-legged pals are excellent pest control officers, and vital to our eco-system - they aren't always the most welcome visitors. Usually spiders start appearing in our homes at the end of August and start of September. The insects start seeking out warm and dry spaces to shelter through the autumn months. However, homeowners across the UK have started to notice their leggy room mates have been arriving ahead of schedule this year. This is bad news for arachnophobes. On Reddit, one wrote: "It's normally September before my house gets invaded but I've already had to evict two of them (or maybe the same spider twice). As an arachnophobe this is not good." To keep your house from becoming overrun with spiders, lavender is a natural and cruelty-free way to deter them. Pots of the scent-packed purple flowers are now in the Middle of Lidl for just £3.99. Lavender contains linalool and linalyl acetate, aromatic compounds that many insects—including spiders—find unpleasant or overwhelming. Spiders navigate largely by touch and smell, and strong, pungent odors can interfere with their ability to sense prey or find shelter. Lavender is also considered a high-nectar-yielding plant, which is especially useful to bees during mid-to-late summer when other nectar sources may be scarce. Lavender reflects light in a spectrum that bees see very clearly. Bees don't see red well, but they do see blue, violet, and UV light—lavender fits right into their visible range, making it visually attractive. As well as lavender, Lidl is also flogging Calla Lilies, Clematis and Roselilies. Despite their creepy-crawly reputation, spiders are some of the most important and fascinating creatures on the planet. They play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance—acting as natural pest controllers in both gardens and homes. A single spider can consume hundreds, even thousands, of insects in its lifetime, including mosquitoes, flies, aphids, and even agricultural pests that threaten crops. Without spiders quietly doing this work, ecosystems—and our food supply—would be far more vulnerable to infestations. The Calla Lilies, known for their trademark trumpet flower are just £4.99 and guaranteed to brighten up any home. If you're looking to add a splash of colour to your garden, you can pick up a clematis flower, also for just £4.99. Orchids are the perfect gift, especially dyed ones and in Lidl they are just £9.99. There are plenty of other huge bargains waiting for you at the bargain retailer - including a Silvercrest cordless vacuum for £69.99. Lidl is also selling the award-winning Gtech AirRam MK2 Cordless Vacuum. The hoover would usually set you back up to £280 but it can be snapped up this week for £149. The supermarket is also selling the Silvercrest Garment Steamer in black or white. Customers can save by downloading the Lidl Plus app. It is free to use and can also unlock other offers including £50 off a Park Dean holiday. Lidl said the up to £50 discount applies to all Lidl Plus customers, so if you've got the loyalty app on your phone, you should give it a check. Click on the "More" tab, then "Partner Offers" and scroll down to find the deal. Once you've redeemed the offer you'll be given a code that needs to be inputted into the Parkdean website. How can I save money when shopping at Lidl? Lidl reduces items at the start of the day and the best deals can be found between 7am to 8am, when most stores open. Shoppers can often find cooked meats, salmon fillets and breads reduced by 30% or more. Not only does Lidl have its own range of reasonably priced alcohol, it also has its own knock-offs of branded favourites – so say cheers to its bargain booze. Everyone knows about the "Middle of Lidl" – it's here where you'll find a load of random stuff that you didn't realise you needed, at decent prices.
