Am working for Nashik, says Bhujbal amid guardian ministership tussle

Nashik: Against the backdrop of
Shiv Sena
and
BJP
's tussle for the Nashik district guardian minister post, NCP's food and civil supplies minister
Chhagan Bhujbal
says he's dedicated to working for Nashik and had thus declined to go Gondia for the govt programme of flag hoisting on Aug 15.
WRD minister Girish Mahajan hoisted the Tricolour at a govt event in Nashik on Friday, while Bhujbal hoisted the national flag at the NCP office in Nashik. The national Tricolour was hoisted by Mahajan at Nashik on Jan 26 (Republic Day) as well, when Bhujbal was not a minister.
When questioned by reporters about the appointment of Nashik guardian minister, Mahajan, who represents the Jamner assembly seat in Jalgaon, said, "At present, I am hoisting the flag at Nashik.
Step by step, things will develop further."
However, he added that the decision on the district guardian minister post rests with govt, and the chief minister and the two deputy chief ministers would take a call on the matter soon.
Mahajan had been announced as the guardian minister in Nashik on Jan 17, but govt stayed the decision the following day. Similarly, the appointment of NCP's Aditi Tatkare as guardian minister for Raigad was also stayed.
Shiv Sena has staked a claim on both positions as it had them in the previous govt.
Responding to Mahajan's remarks on guardian ministership, Bhujbal said, "I am working for the city and the district, and when told to go to Gondia, I declined. Even in the past, I was told to be the guardian minister of Dhule, but even then, my stand was that I am for Nashik and working for Nashik."
Without naming anyone, Bhujbal said, "Everybody likes Nashik.
But ensure that you do not forget Jalgaon and even the assembly constituency you represent."
The NCP has seven MLAs, of which three are ministers, while Shiv Sena has two MLAs, one of whom is a minister. BJP has five MLAs in Nashik district, none of whom is a minister. In Nashik, school education minister Dada Bhuse is a strong contender for the post.

CP Radhakrishnan's FIRST remark after NDA names him Vice Presidential candidate: ‘I assure to work hard for the nation'

Maharashtra Governor Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan, or CP Radhakrishnan, said he was 'moved and touched beyond words' after the ruling National Democratic Alliance named him as their Vice Presidential candidate. In an X post thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top BJP dignitaries for choosing him, Radhakrishnan said, 'My heartfelt thanks to our beloved People's leader our most respected Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, our beloved most respected Honourable Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji, our beloved most respected Honourable Central Minister and BJP President Shri JP Nadda Ji, our beloved most respected Honourable Parliamentary board members, our beloved most respected Honourable Central Ministers, our beloved most respected Honourable NDA partners for choosing me as their Vice Presidential Candidate.' 'I am moved and touched beyond words for the confidence they have in me and giving me the opportunity to serve the Nation. I assure to work hard for the Nation until my last breath. Jai Hind!' Radhakrishnan, a seasoned BJP leader from Tamil Nadu with an RSS background, added. BJP president J P Nadda appealed for the unanimous election of Radhakrishnan (67), an OBC leader and two-time former member of Lok Sabha, to the constitutional position, saying the BJP leaders had spoken to the opposition parties last week and will continue to do so. Radhakrishnan belongs to the influential Gounder caste, an OBC community, in Tamil Nadu. Nadda emphasised on his nearly 40 years in public life, noting that he is well regarded in different parties and commands respect among various sections of society. "He is considered a statesman," Nadda said of the former Coimbatore MP who was made the Jharkhand governor in 2023 and then shifted to Maharashtra in July 2024. Unlike his predecessor Jagdeep Dhankhar, who was also a governor like him before being named as the NDA's vice-presidential nominee in 2022, Radhakrishnan has refrained from cultivating a public profile on political issues and skirted any controversy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Radhakrishnan has always focused on empowering the marginalised and has distinguished himself with dedication, humility and intellect. Modi said Radhakrishnan has done extensive work at the grassroots in Tamil Nadu and he was glad that the NDA family has decided to nominate him as the Vice Presidential candidate of the alliance. 'In his long years in public life, Thiru CP Radhakrishnan Ji has distinguished himself with his dedication, humility and intellect,' Modi said in a post on X. 'During the various positions he has held, he has always focused on community service and empowering the marginalised,' the prime minister said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, sources said, will oversee the vice-presidential election, while Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will be the polling agent. The last date for filing nomination is August 21. If the Opposition also names its candidate, the election will be held on September 9.

AAP selling off interests in name of land pooling policy in Punjab: BJP

The Punjab BJP on Sunday organised a 'Kisan Mazdoor Fateh Rally' in Rajpura town to celebrate the revocation of the Aam Aadmi Party government's anti-farmer land pooling policy. Thousands of farmers and party workers joined the rally, showcasing BJP's growing strength in rural Punjab and its unwavering resolve to safeguard the rights of the farming community. State BJP President Sunil Jakhar launched a scathing attack on AAP, demanding clarity on who framed the controversial land pooling policy. He said it was astonishing that outsiders were running the Punjab government. It was either Arvind Kejriwal or Manish Sisodia who farmed the policy, while the Chief Secretary Punjab was made the chair of this committee. 'Neither the Chief Minister nor his Cabinet was involved, yet Punjabis are paying the price.' He added that Kejriwal was working as proxy CM of Punjab whereas it was Bhagwant Mann for whom Punjabis had voted. 'I thank all farmers and BJP workers, it is because of your tireless efforts and pressure that this useless and anti-farmer policy has finally been revoked,' he said. Punjab working President Ashwani Sharma said BJP's consistent fight at the block and tehsil levels forced the government to withdraw its anti-farmer agenda. He added, 'AAP's expiry date has arrived. The people of Punjab demand Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for real change. Even promises like MSP on 24 crops by AAP remain unfulfilled. Punjab should look at its cousin Haryana -- ruled by BJP -- that offers MSP to farmers on all vegetables and fruits. Today, roadway workers, teachers, doctors, etc., all are on roads, protesting.' BJP national General Secretary Tarun Chugh described the policy reversal as a 'victory of Punjabiyat". He slammed AAP for turning Punjab into an 'ATM' to fund its Delhi politics. 'Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has reduced himself to a puppet CM, dancing to the tunes of leaders like Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, both of whom have already faced jail terms,' he said. Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu hailed the cancellation of the land pooling policy as a historic win for Punjab's farmers. 'This is not just a political success but a fight for our land, and it is a victory for every farmer. Only the BJP can free Punjab from mounting debt and bring true relief through pro-people welfare schemes and development-driven governance,' he added. Former Union Minister Preneet Kaur thanked farmers and BJP workers for their support, saying, 'The strength seen here today shows the power of BJP's family in Punjab. We have always stood with our people, and this rally is proof that the BJP is on the path to victory in the 2027 Assembly elections. This is truly a win for our farmers and Punjab.' The 'Kisan Mazdoor Fateh Rally' sent out a clear message that farmers will not allow their land and rights to be compromised under AAP.
