Rhian Ramos shares what it feels like to be the first and only choice to play Mitena in 'Sang'gre'
Rhian Ramos is the first and only choice for the role of Mitena, the evil ice queen, in the highly-anticipated "Encantadia" spinoff series "Sang'gre."
On Friday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Rhian shared that she was shocked when she was given the role by Suzette Doctolero, the creator of "Encantadia" and one of the creative consultants for "Sang'gre."
"It feels amazing, I take it as very flattering 'yung pangyayari na 'yun. Na-shock talaga ako. This is after right after I finished 'Royal Blood' and ma'am Suzette Doctolero called me and talked to me about two characters on the same day," she said.
According to the Sparkle star, Suzette offered her the role of Mitena in "Sang'gre" and Filipina in "Pulang Araw" on the same day. Suzette also wrote the family drama series, which was directed by Dominic Zapata.
"I was so overwhelmed, hindi ako makapaniwala that this was going to be my year, na I would do two really, kasi ano eh, dinescribe niya 'yung mga kwento nila and I said these are going to be super memorable roles for me," said Rhian.
While the character of Filipina was complex to play, the actress noted that Mitena is more so because of what she went through.
"I was so grateful. I'm still grateful and I kind of removed the pressure from my mind while shooting and just focus on the acting. But now, it's starting to crash in again tapos na-realize ko kung gaano ito ka-big deal. I'm nervous, my hands are cold, it's very exciting," she said.
Rhian also shared that everyone who worked on "Sang'gre" gave their all to the show.
"Ito 'yung naging buhay namin for two years kasi alam namin kung gaano 'to ka importante, kasi marami nang nagmamahal sa 'Encantadia.' 'Encantadia's' bigger than us," she said.
"It's not just this show pero may buong legacy na 'yung 'Encantadia' and binigay talaga namin 'yung buong puso namin para hindi kayo ma-disappoint and I believe that you will also feel and like what you're gonna see."
Mitena is one of the main antagonists in "Sang'gre." She is the twin sister of Cassiopeia, the first queen of Lireo, who was played by Solenn Heussaff in the 2016 "Encantadia" series.
"Sang'gre" will introduce the new keepers of the brilyantes: Flamarra (Faith Da Silva), Deia (Angel Guardian), Adamus (Kelvin Miranda), and Terra (Bianca Umali).
"Sang'gre" will feature a new set of characters which include Ysabel Ortega as Armea, the late Ricky Davao as Governor Emil, and Sienna Stevens who will take on the role of younger Mitena.
"Sang'gre" will premiere on GMA Prime on June 16.

Will Rhian Ramos enter politics? Actress answers
Does Rhian Ramos have plans to enter politics? Rhian guested on Friday's 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,' and opened up about her perspective on politics after witnessing the recent mayoral bid of her boyfriend, Sam Verzosa, who lost in Manila. 'I have to say I was a bit brokenhearted for him kasi 'pag mahal mo 'yung isang tao, you don't want them to be in pain, 'di ba? Ayaw mo silang makita na malungkot or—I was scared na siya 'yung ma-bo-brokenhearted,' she said. Rhian also recounted that Sam cried, which she found understandable given the significant effort and investment he put into the campaign every day. 'He has every right naman kung iiyak siya for himself kasi malaki 'yung tinaya niya, 'di ba? At tsaka every day niyang pinaghirapan 'yon. Pero 'yung iniyak niya sa 'kin, 'yung mga ni-let down niya daw na tao,' she said. When asked if she would consider a career in politics herself after processing Sam's experience, Rhian said, 'Dati sinabi ko ayoko. Nagbago na isip ko. Ayaw na ayaw ko na pala.' 'Ayaw ko talaga. Ang lungkot kasi. I mean, I don't know, siguro just based on what I've seen and what I've experienced, parang I feel like politics is a system that might even work against you pa nga eh. So ayon, depende,' she said. Manila elected Isko Moreno as mayor in the recent election. Meanwhile, Rhian is set to star in 'Sang'gre' as Mitena. She is the twin sister of Cassiopeia, a character played by Solenn Heussaff in the series that aired in 2016. Cassiopeia is the first queen of Lireo. "Sang'gre" is a spinoff of the iconic Kapuso fantaserye "Encantadia." It will introduce the newest keepers of the brilyantes: Flamarra (Faith Da Silva), Deia (Angel Guardian), Adamus (Kelvin Miranda), and Terra (Bianca Umali). Aside from Rhian, "Sang'gre" will feature a new set of characters which include Ysabel Ortega as Armea, the late Ricky Davao as Governor Emil, and Sienna Stevens who will take on the role of younger Mitena. AZ Martinez and River Joseph win task, to donate P100K to cancer treatment charity in honor of their dads
AZ Martinez and her duo River Joseph emerged as the winners of the Charity Task in "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition," which will allow them to donate P100,000 to their chosen charity: the Cancer Treatment and Support Foundation Inc. As seen in the episode on Friday night, AZ and River won the task after building the highest tower using balls, ball stackers, and a panungkit. Back in the confession room, AZ and River expressed their joy in winning the task and the opportunity to help other people. AZ and River also dedicated their victory to their dads, who they lost to liver cirrhosis and cancer, respectively. "I'm just happy na we were able to do it, I'm just happy that we are a blessing to others, Kuya," said AZ. River, for his part, shared that this is his first time winning a task in "PBB." "I'm happy na it wasn't for me but for something greater. Ito talaga, Kuya, it's an honor for both our dads. I think they were with us and I think they helped us in this task kasi alam nila na andami naming [matutulungan] dahil dito," he said. River then turned emotional when he was asked by Kuya what his dad would feel if he were alive. "I think he'll be proud, Kuya. My dad, sobrang generous niyang tao and lagi kong sinasabi I want to follow in his footsteps. I want to be just like him, siya ang hero ko," he said. "If he were alive today, I'm sure he'd be happy, I'm sure he'd be proud na andami naming matutulungan dahil dito," he added. AZ also said that winning the task is a huge tribute to her dad. According to the Kapuso housemate, her dad would always help other people even when they were at their lowest financially, emotionally, and mentally. "He made sure to help other people and to be a blessing, and that's what I learned not only from my dad but also from my mom. If you're blessed, be a blessing to others. If you're at your lowest, still be a blessing to others," she said. "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" airs new episodes on GMA Network weeknights at 10:05 p.m. and Saturdays at 6:15 p.m. —CDC, GMA Integrated News

‘Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila' ends with sacrifice, redemption, mystery
'Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila' bid goodbye to its viewers with a gripping and emotional finale that took fans through an intense rollercoaster of sacrifice, redemption, and new beginnings. The final episode showed Donatella (Jean Garcia) ending the life of her own son Ivan (Martin Del Rosario), cementing her descent into madness and leading to her eventual confinement in a mental hospital, where she was last seen clinging to the belief that Ivan was still alive. Meanwhile, Julio (John Arcilla), the story's antagonist-turned-hero made the ultimate sacrifice, giving his life to protect Lolong (Ruru Madrid). As Lolong hovered between life and death, he had a heartfelt, dreamlike encounter with Julio, where the latter asked for forgiveness. Lolong was briefly pronounced dead, leaving his loved ones devastated. But in true heroic fashion, he miraculously returned to life, gripping Elsie's (Shaira Diaz) hand as his eyes glowed a striking green. The show did not end on just heavy emotions. The mood lightened with a joyful celebration for Butchoy and Mimay's birthday party, where Ayana (Rabiya Mateo) surprised everyone by showing up with cake and joining the festivities. However, it seems like the story does not simply end there. In a quiet yet symbolic scene, Lolong and Elsie introduced Butchoy and Mimay to Dakila, the enormous crocodile who has become both protector and friend. Initially frightened, the children quickly warmed up to the creature after learning he only eats fish, not humans. Watching over Baby Julia at home was Lola Grasya (Tessie Tomas), who briefly turned to grab the baby's milk beside her. When she looked back, she was stunned to see Julia's eyes glowing gold, a mysterious and unanswered tease that seemingly tells more has yet to be unveiled. The cast of 'Lolong' tuned in together on the season finale with a viewing party. In Lhar Santiago's report in '24 Oras,' Friday, Ruru said that he was taken over by mixed emotions. 'Siyempre nakakalungkot na hindi na kami araw-araw magkakasama pero masaya at grateful sa kung ano po 'yung nabuo ng samahan ng 'Lolong.' Masaya at grateful dahil lumaban hanggang dulo kaya thank you guys so much. Salamat po sa tiwala na muli pong mabuksan ang mundo po ni Lolong,' he said. —Carby Rose Basina/CDC, GMA Integrated News
