Take a virtual tour of the "world's greatest supercontinent" in a new docuseries narrated by Tom Hanks.
Produced by renowned wildlife producer Mike Gunton, "The Americas" is a new tentpole series that "showcases the wonders, secrets and fragilities of the world's greatest supercontinent," a news release by NBC says. The series has been produced by Gunton for BBC Studios Natural History Unit in association with Universal Studio Group division Universal Television Alternative Studio.
"For the first time, the Americas stars in its own incomparable series, using cutting-edge technology to uncover never-before-seen behavior, and highlight the extraordinary, untold wildlife stories that will deeply connect with millions around the world," NBC says.
The docuseries aimed at highlighting "the wonders, secrets and fragilities of the world's greatest supercontinent" has been filmed over a span of five years across 180 expeditions. Each hour-long episode features a different location, such as Patagonia, the Gulf Coast, wild west and the Andes among others across the entire continent of America, including north and south America.

New episodes of "The Americas" air every Sunday on NBC at 8 p.m. ET / PT on NBC. The episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
The series premiered on Feb. 23 with two back-to-back episodes.

The making of 'The Americas'
A week after the series concludes on Monday, April 21, a special episode "showcasing a behind-the-scenes look at 'The Americas'" will stream exclusively on Peacock and will feature Hanks and the crew "revealing perils and breakthroughs behind the lens of this milestone nature series."
NBC says the special will explore "the dedication, fieldcraft, humor, heart, and innovation that came together to create one of the most ambitious wildlife series ever produced."

Google new tool can help you find the best flight deals faster
Google announced a new, AI-powered way to search for flights. The new Flight Deals tool is rolling out to U.S. users over the next week. Google's new tool lets users search for flight options using natural language, rather than having to go through the tedium of searching for an endless combination of dates and destinations to find a good deal. "Instead of playing with different dates, destinations and filters to uncover the best deals, you can just describe when, where and how you'd like to travel – as though you're talking to a friend – and Flight Deals will take care of the rest," a statement from Google about the new product said. I tried it out myself by searching for "A long weekend trip to somewhere with good hiking, not departing from Newark for less than $500," since I live in Queens, New York, and Newark Liberty International Airport is inconvenient for me to get to when the other two major airports for the city are so close by. Google came back with a variety of domestic and international destinations that fit my description. "What makes Flight Deals unique is that it uses Google's advanced AI to understand the nuances of what you're looking for and identify matching destinations. Then, it'll tap into real-time Google Flights data to quickly show you relevant, up-to-date options from hundreds of airlines and booking sites," Google's release said. Flight Deals is still in beta testing, but a Google spokesperson told USA TODAY it expects the rollout to be complete in the U.S. in the next week or so, if not sooner. NBA returns to NBC, debuts on Peacock: Check out the full slate of more than 100 games
Crank up the Roundball Rock! For the first time in 24 years, the NBA has returned to NBC — and is debuting on Peacock — with more than 100 games, featuring the biggest stars, some playoff rematches, and some of the NBA's classic rivalries all taking their turn in the spotlight. Many of those games will be highlighted in the big three nights of games on NBC and Peacock every week: Peacock NBA Monday, Coast 2 Coast Tuesday, and Sunday Night Basketball (starting after the NFL season). Everything tips off on the NBA's opening night, Oct. 21, with a double header on NBC and streaming on Peacock. First, the Houston Rockets visit the NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder, marking the night the players receive their rings and OKC raises its championship banner. In the second game of the night, it's Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors visiting LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in a showdown of two NBA icons. After that dramatic opening, we get into the weekly games. Peacock NBA Monday Starting on Oct. 27 and every Monday throughout the season, as many as three games will be streamed exclusively on Peacock. This Monday night series opens with a must-watch doubleheader: Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers travel to Detroit to take on the fast-rising Pistons led by Cade Cunningham. In the second game, two of the West's top teams face off when Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets travel to Minnesota to take on Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves. Another Peacock NBA Monday game to circle on your calendar comes on March 9, when the last two MVPs — the Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Nuggets' Jokic — face off when Denver travels to Oklahoma City. That will be followed by an 8 p.m. PT game shown on NBC stations in the Pacific and Mountain time zones. Both games will stream on Peacock. Also, it's a chance to check in on No. 2 pick Dylan Harper and how he is progressing in San Antonio. • March 10: the Dallas Mavericks at the Atlanta Hawks. The No. 1 picks of the last two seasons — Dallas' Cooper Flagg and Atlanta's Zaccharie Risacher — face off. Check out the full Coast 2 Coast Tuesday schedule: Sunday Night Basketball Sports fans have come to expect the best games being on Sunday, and that will be no different when Sunday Night Basketball is launched on Feb. 1, 2026. That coverage starts after NBC's NFL coverage but will pause for two weeks — on Feb. 8, NBC and Peacock will broadcast Super Bowl LX, and on Feb. 15, there will be coverage of the NBA All-Star Game, and the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics — but will restart on Feb. 22 with some fascinating games (all of which also will be streamed on Peacock). Is It Safe to Take Your Baby to a Concert? Here's What Experts Say
Fact checked by Sarah Scott It wasn't as viral a moment as the Coldplay kiss cam fiasco, but at a recent Maluma concert in Mexico City, the artist made headlines for something other than his music. ICYMI, Maluma stopped the show to call out a parent who brought a baby along for the night. Per USA Today, he addressed the fan in Spanish, saying, "Do you think it's a good idea to bring a 1-year-old baby to a concert where the decibels are through where the sound is blasting?" Maluma then advised the parent to protect the child's ears—or better yet, not bring the little one at all. "I say this with all care and with all respect, since I'm a dad. I would never have brought a 1-year-old to a concert. So next time, be a bit more mindful, OK?" This particular encounter follows another controversial moment involving a kiddo at a concert. Earlier this month, Dominic Fike brought his baby—who, unlike the child at the Maluma show, was wearing headphones—on stage at Lollapalooza (more on whether headphones do enough to protect babies' ears in a moment). And these two mini-fans aren't the first babies to attend a concert. Who could forget the parent who brought their baby to nap on the floor at a Taylor Swift show last year? These instances leave a parent like me to wonder whether it's safe to bring a baby to a concert at all. Because a certain someone may be looking to buy tickets to a certain Jake Owen concert in the near future. In question as I plan the evening: Should this be a night out among adults, or a family affair? Not a Myth: Concerts Can Lead to Hearing Damage in Babies It looks like I'll be hiring a sitter, since experts side with Maluma, and warn that a baby's hearing can indeed be permanently damaged from exposure to very loud music—and concerts certainly get very loud. According to Abhita Reddy, MD, board-certified pediatric ENT/Otolaryngologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, a gig like Maluma's can reach 90 to 120 decibels, depending on the type of music, size of venue, and a person's distance from the speakers, among other factors. She cautions that when sound reaches 90 to 95 decibels, a child's hearing can be impacted even if they are exposed for a short period of time. 'We do not recommend any for anything over 95 decibels, as even a few minutes of exposure can cause permanent hearing loss,' Dr. Reddy tells Parents. The potential risks of a night out with your tot are serious, and not only include permanent hearing loss, but the potential for increased sound sensitivity, and ringing in the ears. As a general guideline, you should not expose your baby's ears to a noise level of over 70 decibels, or about what a vacuum cleaner would emit, according to pediatrician Michael Glazier, MD, chief medical officer for Bluebird Kids Health based in Jacksonville. What About Noise-Reducing Headphones and Other Safety Precautions? Of course, we've all seen babies wearing noise-reducing headphones like those that Fike's little one sported at the music festival. I'm recalling Michael Phelps' son donning a cute pair at the Olympic Games years ago, too. But there are some important things to know about headphones for future music and sporting event fans. First, if you decide to purchase a pair for your child, Dr. Reddy recommends looking for the over-ear kind that feature sound reduction of 20 to 30 decibels. Minimuffs is a brand to consider as it is sometimes used in neonatal intensive care units, according to Dr. Glazier. 'It is important to note ear protectors decrease the decibel level of noise exposure, but do not eliminate it,' he cautions. Dr. Reddy further notes that noise-reducing headphones are not well-regulated. Meanwhile, she recommends that parents who opt to bring a baby or small child to a concert not only outfit a baby with headphones, but be sure to download an app to their phones that checks sound levels in decibels from their seats. Concerts Safe For Babies? Ultimately, Dr. Glazier says taking a baby to a concert is not a good idea as your baby's ears are sensitive, and a still-developing auditory system can be permanently damaged. 'Overall, taking small children to large concerts is not recommended given the lack of regulation surrounding sound standards at different venues,' Dr. Reddy concurs. Beyond the concerns over hearing loss, parents should consider other risks of toting a small child to a concert, such as secondhand smoke exposure and that attendees could be intoxicated, leading to an increased risk of an accident. As far as when you should take a child to a concert, Dr. Glazier recommends that this rite of passage be saved for a time that they are mature enough to handle the excitement—and noise.
