Better yet, picking up a fun and fast convertible that's also reliable and even family friendly has never been easier, with plenty of options available.
"There's nothing quite like that moment of the sun on your face, top down as summer arrives,' said Catherine King of Auto Trader, who recently revealed to Sun Motors her top drop top favourites.
'We often see an increase in searches for convertibles when the sun appears, for example two weeks ago when we had a sunny weekend, we saw a 15% day-on-day increase across the platform.
'While some might think convertibles are expensive and just for summer, there are plenty of budget-friendly options suitable for use all year round.
'As well as price, space is also a key consideration. Convertibles tend to have smaller boots as the roof needs to be stored too.
'However, models like the BMW 1 series offer some of the most space, ideal for the summer essentials.'
A good, 1 series BMW convertible can be found on Auto Trader for under £8,000 with some 35,000 miles on the clock, while higher mileage examples can be found for as little as £4,000.
Another example is the Mercedes SLK, one of the most popular two-seater convertibles that ranges from £1,500 to £9,000 on the used car website.
Not one for large families obviously, but great for those looking for something classy and cool, with great handling.
On the flip side, the Mini Cooper Convertible, while small, does come with the extra passenger seats in the back - as well as the extra oomph you'd come to expect from the Cooper variant.
5 modern classics that 'could make you money' including Saab convertible
Catherine added: 'A key factor is whether you want a two-seater, something like the Mercedes SLK or a four-seater to accommodate more passengers, such as a Mini Cooper Convertible.
'With a four-seater those in the back may be set for a windier ride, with less screen protection, but it's more practical if you regularly have more passengers.'
One thing convertible buyers might need to consider is roof-type, as there are a range of options.
Fabric roofs, while prone to more weather damage, are often simpler and manually operated, in contrast to hardtops, which are more durable but are heavier and can be expensive if they go wrong.
Catherine said: 'It will come down to what best suits your lifestyle and how you can store the car.
'Of course, reliability is always key. The classic Mazda MX-5, which has become almost the poster child for convertible cars, has long been recognised as a mechanically reliable choice although it's worth noting it can be prone to rust.
'Prioritising reliability means you can have some peace of mind and confidence that it will stand the test of time.'
With over 15,000 convertible models currently listed on Auto Trader, whatever your budget and needs, there's bound to be an option for you.

Inside major car brand's new ‘iconic' hatchback EV to be built at huge UK factory – as firm raises £5bn to stay afloat
The new model has undergone a significant redesign ROAD AHEAD Inside major car brand's new 'iconic' hatchback EV to be built at huge UK factory – as firm raises £5bn to stay afloat Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A STRUGGLING car brand has released details of its new electric crossover ahead of a full reveal later this month. Built at a huge factory in Sunderland, the Nissan Leaf is set to join the market later this year. The launch comes amid the company's financial struggles after they announced £4 billion in losses. As other manufacturers are slowing production on EVs, Nissan's Sunderland factory is focusing more on these eco-friendly alternatives. The company has reduced its production from 17 to 10 factories, with an announcement that 20,000 jobs will be lost. Its newest model has been announced as part of this focus on EVs. Global product strategy boss Richard Candler told Autocar that the latest model was informed by customer feedback since the car's 2010 debut. He said: "Leaf is an icon for us. It's one of our core 'heartbeat' models." First launched in 2010, the Leaf was one of the first mass-market electric cars. Nissan has sold 700,000 Leafs since 2010, covering over 28 billion kilometres. Richard added: "We have really substantial, real-world insight about the customer - understanding how their needs have evolved from the early days of Leaf until now." The company has substantially changed this version's shape and positioning, learning from their Mk1 and Mk2 models. This results in more aerodynamic efficiency, helping to achieve a longer range. While not being officially announced until the debut later this month, its estimated maximum range is 372 miles. The new design reflects a wider market shift away from traditional hatchbacks towards higher-riding cars. Japanese giant unveils its new bargain EV with quirky 'bug eye' headlights It means that the Nissan Leaf could rival cars like the Skoda Elroq. While few details have been announced so far, European product boss François Bailly said they were emphasising "real-world range." This means they have prioritised range and aerodynamics with the design to ensure motorists get the most out of their EV. Global design boss Alfonso Albaisa added: "It's very modern, simple and nice. "We wanted something tailored, handsome, well-proportioned, with a super-tech interior that feels open and cool." It will include features like an electrochromic dimming panoramic roof with heat shielding, creating more headspace by removing the need for physical blinds. Its in-car systems are equipped with their updated Car and Connected Service platform, using a Google-based infotainment system and advanced driver assistance systems to "make your life easier." The new model is launching amidst the company's financial problems. Over the last few weeks, Nissan has announced plans to cut 20,000 jobs, and reported £4billion in losses leading to an £1 billion government bailout. To save on costs, they plan on closing down seven of their factories, with its only UK based factory focusing more on electric cars. During this turbulent period, production on some models has stalled. The company may need to sell its £500 million Yokohama-based global headquarters to combat its extensive losses.

Luxury car enthusiast Karl Stefanovic takes a cheeky dig at his Today co-host Jayne Azzopardi for driving a Mazda
Karl Stefanovic appeared to take a cheeky dig at Today fill-in co-host Jayne Azzopardi for driving a Mazda on Thursday. During the breakfast show, Karl and Jayne interviewed four Mazda car salesmen who have gone viral online after posting clips of themselves dancing erotically in order to get more people to the car dealership. After the men reenacted the dancing video, Karl cooled off Jayne with a fan, teasing her for finding the sexy clip online while 'researching'. 'Of all the stories in the world...' he quipped. 'I'm a mum! I became a mum and I bought a Mazda,' Jayne told Karl, who retorted: 'Oh mums don't like sexy stuff?' 'Oh, you want a Mazda?' Karl asked his co-host as he lowered his eyebrows. 'No, I drive one already,' she told him. The host then quipped: 'Oh, well you've gotta get a new one now!' In 2023, Karl took a cheeky swipe at co-host Sarah Abo, 39, after she was pictured driving her trusty Toyota Corolla around Sydney. The two were discussing a novelty race for banged-up old cars when Karl alluded to the paparazzi photos published by Daily Mail Australia. '[Check out] this colourful convoy of crappy cars,' he began. 'Talking about crappy cars, wait until you see what Sarah was driving around yesterday when she was paparazzied [sic] driving around her new home town.' Sarah swiftly defended herself, telling luxury car enthusiast Karl: 'There's nothing wrong with a Toyota!' 'I didn't say there was,' he replied sheepishly. Karl used to drive around in a $180,000 Mercedes-Benz and was once seen in the driver's seat of a $300,000 vintage Land Rover. He also made headlines in 2017 after he test drove a $163,000 silver Mercedes and was spotted in $295,000 AMG Benz Coupe in the same week. At the time, Karl was often spotted cruising around town in his white Mercedes, but had been seen in three newer vehicles in the space of a week.

Waymo Vehicles Ignite Protests Amid Public Disturbance Concerns
A California law impacting Waymo has Santa Monica residents fuming Santa Monica, California, residents have been up in arms over the beeping noises at various hours of the day and night from a Waymo-funded parking lot in the area. The 56-vehicle autonomous rideshare fleet, which uses a Santa Monica lot as a charging base, frequently beeps due to a state regulation requiring electric cars to make noise when backing up. Santa Monica officials only learned about Waymo's presence in the lot after receiving resident complaints. Anuj Gupta, Santa Monica's director of transit services, wrote to Waymo's city policy and government affairs manager in a Feb. 11 email: 'What particularly surprised and concerned us is that this site had never come up as a Waymo hub or parking/charging location on any of our previous check-in calls—yet there is clearly a substantial Waymo operation occurring out of these lots that is drawing concern,' according to The Los Angeles Times. City staff also said that noise recently measured from Waymo's site was within city noise limits. Waymo opened up two charging stations for over 50 company cars in January. Santa Monica locals have tried blocking the Waymos from entering their company lot using cones, cars, and themselves. A strategy that Santa Monica residents call 'stacking the Waymos' involves people sauntering in the vehicle's path to create a backup of the cars. One local practiced Waymo stacking so frequently that the company called the police on him six times and unsuccessfully tried to get a temporary restraining order, The Los Angeles Times reports. Waymo's response to the noise complaints Waymo responded to Santa Monica residents' complaints by saying it: 'Will continue to learn and improve how we introduce ourselves to new communities when we arrive.' While beeping is cited as the primary noise concern, Waymo has taken steps to reduce noise from its parking lots, including buying quieter vacuums for cleaning the vehicles and banning vacuuming from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am, installing bamboo stands to absorb noise, lowering employee working hours within lots, and limiting speed in alleyways to 10 mph. Reported issues associated with the fleet, like traffic blockages, tend to be limited relative to how many miles the company logs daily. Compared to human drivers over 56.7 million miles, Waymo had 92% fewer pedestrian crashes and 82% fewer cyclist and motorcycle crashes. Still, chronic noise complaints like the ones from Santa Monica residents are a problem Waymo needs to solve sooner rather than later if it wants to maintain its reputation, especially with how quickly people criticize self-driving tech.
