Wild Rift producer responds to backlash over alleged AI anniversary video posted to Weibo
The video, meant to celebrate the mobile game's third anniversary, featured popular characters such as Jinx, Yasuo and Seraphine performing at a fictional concert.
However, the visuals quickly drew scrutiny for their low quality, including unusual facial animations, glitchy movement, and awkward design elements, such as the misspelling of 'anniversary' as 'aniversary' and a distorted '3rd' logo.
Fans on platforms like Reddit and Twitter pointed to several hallmarks of AI-generated content, including inconsistent object rendering, unnatural character movement, and vague lyrics like 'Can we turn up the blower higher,' which some attributed to mistranslation or generative language models.
Wild Rift executive producer David Xu acknowledged the backlash in a post on Weibo. 'Yesterday we posted a creator-made video on our official Weibo channel that, frankly, did not hit the mark,' Xu wrote.
'When we post content on our official channels, it's on us to maintain a high-quality bar and be clear about where it came from. Thank you for all the feedback, we can and will do better.'
Xu did not confirm whether the video was AI-generated but indicated it originated from an external creator. Reports suggest the video may have come from a group called Outliers (异类), known for AI-based aesthetic content.
Riot has since removed the video from Weibo.

Photo: Taylor Swift instagram The announcement, which received more than nine million likes, also revealed songs such as The Fate of Ophelia, Elizabeth Taylor, Father Figure and the title track featuring Carpenter. Following the reveal, some social media users criticised Swift's outfits in the album imagery, with comments suggesting she was imitating other artists or lowering her standards. Remarks included comparisons to Britney Spears' Circus era and references to Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Chappell Roan and Kylie Minogue. Others urged her to 'put some clothes on' or questioned her suitability as a role model. Fans responded on platforms including Reddit, defending the singer's creative choices and challenging expectations placed on her image. Elden Ring Nightreign leak hints at Deep of Night ranked mode with new relic rewards
A new Elden Ring Nightreign leak has suggested the arrival of an unreleased ranked survival mode named Deep of Night, discovered by dataminers in the game's files. According to Reddit user Administrator, Deep of Night differs from the existing Expeditions in Nightreign, which require players to survive two in-game days in Limgrave before battling a selected final boss. Instead, the leaked mode tasks Nightfarers with surviving for as long as possible, earning a score based on the 'Depth' they reach. The mode is described as competitive, with skill-based matchmaking and ELO integration, although no in-game examples of this system have been found. Datamined text indicates: 'Targets cannot be chosen, and difficulty increases with depth. Victory increases your rating, allowing you to proceed unto ever greater depths.' Alongside the new gameplay challenge, the leak references Deep Relics. These are distinct from standard Relics, offering stronger buffs for a chosen Nightfarer but with drawbacks to offset their power. One example shown includes three buffs alongside 'Continuous HP Loss' as a penalty. Up to three Deep Relics can be equipped in new dedicated slots alongside existing Relics, but their effects are reportedly active only during Deep of Night runs. As with any datamined content, there is no guarantee that the mode will be released in its current form. FromSoftware may alter or remove the feature before an official announcement. It is also unclear whether Deep of Night will be a free update or form part of previously announced DLC. For now, players can continue exploring Nightreign's current challenges, including its Everdark Sovereigns, while awaiting confirmation on whether this competitive mode will make its way into the game.

One Piece Heroines anime announced as fans debate which spinoffs deserve adaptation next
A new anime adaptation, One Piece Heroines, has been announced, focusing on stories from the women of the One Piece universe. The news was revealed during the Egghead Saga Voice Actors Special Stage Event at One Piece Day 2025, alongside a first visual featuring Nami and Robin. Based on the light novels written by Jun Esaka and illustrated by Sayaka Suwa, the series adapts short stories first published in One Piece Magazine. The first novel follows Nami, Robin, Vivi, and Perona, while the second includes Hancock, Tashigi, Reiju, and Uta, ending with a conversation between Nami and Robin. Haruka Kamatani will direct the anime, with Takashi Kojima as character designer and Momoka Toyoda handling the script. The announcement has drawn mixed reactions among fans. Some are eager for the female-led stories to take centre stage, while others voiced preferences for different adaptations. On Reddit, one fan suggested, 'They should animate the Ace manga/novel. That would be so good with a proper studio behind it.' Another agreed, adding, 'The Law novel too,' and others mentioned titles like Shokugeki no Sanji. Several commenters expressed hope for more novel adaptations, including those centred on Ace, Law, and Zoro. However, many welcomed the Heroines project, with one noting excitement over the involvement of the writer of Fan Letter, and another praising the Perona chapter from the first volume. According to fans, the Heroines' stories are not necessarily canon, but some take place between key events in the main manga, offering 'slice of life' moments rather than action-heavy arcs. Eiichiro Oda has described them as 'the little One Piece that exists in the margins of the great adventure.'
