The approval of the guide aligns with the strategies of both the Emirate of Sharjah and the Club to promote marine sports culture and broaden community participation in various water sports, with a strong emphasis on safety standards and organisational efficiency.
A milestone for marine sports regulation
Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Board of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, stated:'I am pleased to announce the approval of the regulatory guide for licensing marine activities in the Emirate of Sharjah. The approval represents a strategic milestone that reflects our commitment to positioning the emirate as a global hub for marine sports.'
Comprehensive framework and safety standards
Al Midfa pointed out that the guide was developed in response to the directives of the wise leadership and in accordance with Executive Council Resolution No. (7). It establishes a comprehensive legislative and regulatory framework to enhance marine safety standards, unify licensing procedures for activities and events, and protect the marine environment.
The guide also reinforces the Club's vision of enabling the community to engage in marine sports in a safe and professional manner, thereby supporting Sharjah's sustainable development goals.
Appreciation for partners and continued collaboration
Al Midfa extended his thanks to all partners who contributed to the preparation of the guide, affirming the Club's ongoing commitment to working hand in hand with relevant authorities to achieve excellence in this vital sector.
Youth development and community engagement
Ahmed Issa Al Hosani, Director General of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, stated that, in line with the Club's vision to strengthen the emirate's leadership in marine sports and to build a promising generation capable of achieving future success, the Club is committed to implementing the Board's directives through approved programmes.
Among these is the launch of summer camps in Sharjah's coastal cities, aimed at developing the skills of young people and raising their awareness of the importance of marine sports.
Preparing teams for international competition
Additionally, the Club will organise an intensive training camp for its sailing and rowing teams in preparation for upcoming championships in the Kingdom of Morocco.
This initiative falls within the club's broader plan to support its teams and ensure their competitive readiness. The Club has also approved the participation of its Formula Team in Categories 1, 2, and 4 — further reinforcing its commitment to strengthening its presence both regionally and internationally.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, announced that the establishment of the Youth Council within the Ministry of Sports represents a strategic step towards strengthening youth participation in shaping the future of national sports, reflecting the Ministry's confidence in the vital role young people play in achieving excellence and sustainability in this sector. His Excellency stated: 'The announcement of the Council coincides with the celebration of International Youth Day. Its formation reflects our commitment to investing in the energy and creativity of young Emirati men and women and to providing institutional platforms that enable them to take part in decision-making and contribute actively to the development of our sports ecosystem, in alignment with the objectives of the National Sports Strategy 2031 and the 'We the UAE 2031' vision.' The formation of the Youth Council underscores the Ministry's strong belief in the crucial role of youth participation in designing sports policies and developmental programs. It also reflects the Ministry's commitment to investing in human capital, in alignment with the goals of 'We the UAE 2031' vision to build a brighter future for the country's sports sector. In addition, the Council supports the Ministry's mission to achieve institutional excellence in line with the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program (SKGEP), promoting collaboration across government entities to advance national objectives. This initiative is part of the broader Youth Councils program managed by the Federal Youth Authority. The Youth Council aims to empower youth within national sports institutions and promote innovation by supporting new ideas and initiatives that drive progress in the sector, in line with the country's ambitious sports vision. The Council also plays a key role in enhancing internal engagement by establishing effective communication channels between young employees and senior leadership, helping to build a work environment that is collaborative and supports open dialogue. The Council is composed of a select group of distinguished young professionals from the Ministry, chaired by Hamad Hassan Rashid Al Jarwan, with Dr. Mansoor Darwish Ahmad Al Shezawi serving as the Vice Chair. Its members include Abdulrahman Ahmed Abdulla Al Mansoori, Hamad Mohammed Hussein Al Jasmi, Fatima Majid Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Mohammed Khalifa Ali Mohamed Al Qamzi, and Duaij Khalifa Saeed Al Dhanhani. Clubs participate with 60 athletes A total of 60 players is participating, selected after week-long training sessions. They represent nine clubs: Sharjah, Al Bataeh, Al Hamriyah, Mleiha, Al Dhaid, Al Madam, Khorfakkan, Dibba Al Hisn, and Kalba — with 20 athletes per sport. Mohammed Obaid Al Hassaan, Director of Sports Affairs and Development at the Council, leads the delegation along with 12 technical and administrative staff members. Daily training and friendly matches The camp features daily sessions under the supervision of European coaches, focused on skill exchange and exposure to global tactics, alongside a series of friendly matches aimed at enhancing player performance and broadening their sporting perspective. Leadership comments Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Council, emphasised that the annual overseas camps reflect the Council's vision to raise the capabilities of top athletes and enhance their exposure. He stressed the importance of such experiences for both players and technical staff, hoping the camp will benefit Sharjah clubs and help develop national-level talents.
