CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run that left a bicyclist dead.
Around 8:50 p.m., NC State Highway Patrol responded to the collision on US 70 near 4th Street SW in Conover.
Officials say a bicyclist, 58-year-old Donald Steven Ricker, was going east on US 70 when he was hit by a vehicle that immediately fled the scene. Ricker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a 2018-2020 Ford F-150, F-250 Super Duty, or a Ford Mustang. NCSHP is asking anyone who may have seen anything in the area of US 70 near Nagano Japanese Restaurant from 8:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. to contact them at 828-466-5500.Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — One person has been taken to the hospital after two vehicles collided on private property near Panda Express in the morning of June 6. According to a San Angelo Police Department officer at the scene, the collision occurred in the 5600 block of Sherwood Way on a private roadway near a Panda Express and a Chick-fil-A. Fundraiser started after 5-vehicle crash 'totaled' family's only car The officer said the crash happened after a Kia 'coming in off of Sherwood Way' attempting to make a left turn 'turned in front of' a Ford Mustang driving toward the nearby H-E-B grocery store. The officer stated that no serious injuries were reported. However, the driver of the Kia was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure. The officer also said that, although the crash was caused by a failure to yield right-of-way, no citation will be issued as the incident occurred on private property rather than a public roadway. The Brief Police say one car crashed into another while speeding on Fondren Road. One vehicle struck two power poles, causing an outage for hundreds. Three people were injured. One of them is said to be in critical condition. Southbound Fondren Road is closed off in the area. HOUSTON - The southbound lanes of Fondren Road are closed in southwest Houston following a crash that caused injuries and a power outage. What we know The crash happened at about 2 p.m. Thursday in the 9300 block of Fondren Road near South Braeswood Boulevard. According to HPD Lt. Larry Crowson, a Honda was speeding in the southbound lanes on Fondren near a Ford F-150. The Honda reportedly tried to avoid another vehicle that was coming from a side street when it struck the F150. Both of the vehicles rolled over several times, according to the lieutenant. The Honda crashed into a tree and was split into two parts. The Honda also struck two power poles, causing an outage in the area. It's believed 300–400 customers are out of power. The drivers of both vehicles are said to be in stable condition. A passenger in the Honda was trapped inside, but has since been taken to a hospital for surgery. Police say the passenger was in critical condition. Police have closed off Fondren's southbound lanes to investigate the crash and clear the area. What we don't know There are allegations that the two cars that crashed were racing, but police say that hasn't been confirmed. There is no estimate on when southbound Fondren will be cleared.
