People urged to share Thatcher-era memories for Grantham festival
Margaret Thatcher is often credited with overseeing a period of great change in Britain, including privatising nationalised industries and allowing council tenants to buy their homes. In 1980, she delivered one of her most defiant speeches at the Conservative Party Conference in Brighton on her controversial counter-inflationary policies."To those waiting with bated breath for that favourite media catchphrase, 'the U turn', I have only one thing to say. You turn if you want to - the lady's not for turning."The 1984-85 miners' strike and the Falklands war of 1982 also took place during Thatcher's time in office.
South Kesteven District Council's deputy leader, Councillor Paul Stokes, said: "This is a chance to be part of a community video sharing your memories of Margaret Thatcher, good or bad, and how she affected your life during her years as prime minister."The video will remember the life of Grantham's most famous daughter and, no matter what your politics are, our discussions around the commemoration event are sure to provoke lively debate," he added.Submissions for the film can be made by email until 29 September.Other events include a drag show starring Matt Tedford as The Iron Lady, reimagining the evening of the Section 28 vote, with Thatcher getting lost in Soho and accidentally becoming a cabaret singer.Former junior health minister Edwina Currie will also be hosting an evening of chat and memories.

I ended it with Paddy to find true self…that means I'm dating women, says Christine McGuinness as she speaks about split
AFTER being known as Paddy McGuinness's wife for 11 years, Christine is making big changes. Not just by leaving her famous husband — but by turning her back on men completely. 7 The model, who is currently appearing on E4's Celebs Go Dating, has revealed she has only been in relationships with women in the three years since the breakdown of their marriage. But she insists that, at the age of 37, it is less about satisfying previously unfulfilled desires and more about starting a new chapter with her own identity. Talking on Celebs Go Dating, which launched last night, Christine said: 'I feel like I'm a couple of steps away from being my new self and not 'Paddy's wife'. I'm coming out of the transition part. 'I am single and I absolutely do love women. I'd love to explore that more and I definitely see that's where I'm more comfortable.' She added: 'When I was a teenager I dated men and women before I was married and now I'm really, really just enjoying spending time with women. 'For the last three years I've only ever dated women. I was never heterosexual, I've never labelled myself anything other than Christine, to be honest.' Christine and Paddy, 51, married in 2011 and have three children together. She claims the Take Me Out and Top Gear presenter knew from the start of their relationship that she is attracted to women, and did not take issue with it. 'It's my fault' Since announcing their shock split in July 2022, Christine has been romantically linked to singer Chelcee Grimes and model, rapper and DJ Roxxxan. But, as part of Celebs Go Dating, she opens up more than ever about her love life and how she perhaps wasn't as into men as it would have appeared to onlookers. Christine McGuinness has taken a sly dig at ex-husband Paddy, claiming she now wants to date women so she can have 'a deeper connection.' On one episode, during a dating masterclass with Too Hot To Handle hunk Louis Russell, she is challenged to use her body language to show she is interested in him. She is incredibly convincing, but Christine reveals afterwards: 'I just think it's a really good example of how I'm used to faking it.' Despite her confidence when it comes to flirting, Christine discusses some of the issues she has encountered with potential new partners. She said: 'I'm attracted to a masculine woman that's not trying to fit in and be like anyone else. 'I haven't dated an awful lot. I was married for a long time and it took me a while to even think about spending time with anyone. 'Luckily, for me, the women I've spent time with over the last couple of years, I already knew them.' She continued: 'The only thing I've struggled with is when I've really liked someone and they haven't got children and they want more. I just know that isn't for me. 'My time is actually very precious and valuable, if I am spending time with somebody you should know you're important.' Christine also appeared to address rumours that Paddy had cheated during their marriage. She said: 'Anyone can make mistakes, but I think the trust was broken. 7 'I'll always love him as the father of my children, I think he'll be the only man I'll ever love. A lot of people make mistakes and mess up, when you are a couple who is quite well known in the industry then obviously everyone knows your business. 'In some ways I still carry that feeling of it's my fault because I ended it. 'We had an amazing 15 years, we really did. The last couple of years, I think things weren't quite the same. 'I think once the respect isn't quite there any more, it's time to leave. It was the hardest decision I've ever made in my life and it forever will be.' Christine revealed it was Paddy's comedic charm that won her over when they met during a turbulent time in her life. Christine said: 'He wasn't as known as what he is now. I was 19 when I met him, I went to an event where I was modelling. 'My ex husband was there, someone introduced us and we had a laugh. We kept in touch. I did [fancy him], he had a cheeky charm, he made me laugh and I wasn't in the best place. 'I was struggling with a lot of things. I struggled a lot as a teenager, I didn't really know where I fitted or where I belonged. When I met my ex-husband it was just perfect timing. 'He made me laugh so much, it was easy, it was an easy relationship.' Christine was diagnosed with ADHD and autism in her late thirties, shortly after their children Penelope, Leo and Felicity were diagnosed with autism. The developmental conditions have affected social interactions throughout her life — and that goes for dating, too. She explained: 'Autism affects me a lot with socialising, it takes me a while to relax and be open to get to know someone. 'They think I'm odd' 'I struggle to read people so I never really know whether I've made a good impression or not. The thought of going on a date scares me so much. 'I just have a couple of different corners to navigate before I'm OK. 7 'I just find it uncomfortable with someone I don't know.' On how it affects how she plans dates, Christine said: 'It's just sensory issues, so I struggle with too much texture, it could be the smell, if it's too busy somewhere. So I try to avoid restaurants unless I've been there before. 'I think people just think I'm a bit odd or that I have got an eating disorder of some sort. 'It's just that first bit of feeling different but I want someone who accepts all of that, and is OK with that.' And Christine reckons there's no better place to find love than the E4 dating show. She said: 'It's all brand new to me, but I'm in the best place, I'm excited for it. 'I've got to take a deep breath and just dive in. I can't be single for the rest of my life.' Other famous faces on the Celebs Go Dating line-up are Love Islander Olivia Hawkins, Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona, The Chase quizzer Mark Labbett, S Club singer Jon Lee, comic Donna Preston, and Made In Chelsea's Sam Prince. They are guided by dating coach Paul C Brunson and sex guru Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn. After meeting potential dates, including another lesbian called Leanne, Christine admits: 'There's parts of all of them that I really like. 'With Leanne, although she's presenting more fem, I know there's a lot of dominance in her. I'm really torn. Leanne isn't my usual type, she's more feminine, quite glamorous. I'd like to see more of her masculine side, which I'm pretty sure is in there.' The show is likely to make for uncomfortable viewing for husband Paddy as Christine has already divulged a few things that may feel like a needle to her ex-husband. Before the show aired, she admitted: 'I can just have a deeper connection with a woman. I like someone who knows what they want and isn't playing games.' Celebs Go Dating is on tonight, tomorrow and Thursday on E4 at 9pm. All this week's episodes are available to stream now. 7 7

Is wedding vow renewal moment Brooklyn quit Beckhams forever after snubbed David & Victoria learned of ceremony online?
HEARTBROKEN David and Victoria Beckham believe son Brooklyn has 'quit' the family after he renewed his wedding vows with Nicola Peltz. None of the Beckhams were invited to the lavish ceremony on August 2 — presided over by Nicola's billionaire dad Nelson — and only read about it on an US website. 12 After seeing photos of the happy couple, David and Victoria told friends: 'This is the moment Brooklyn declared himself no longer a member of our family.' The Beckham family feud has now rumbled on for four years — before Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, originally got married in 2022, The Sun can reveal. Last night a source said: 'This was the final kick in the teeth for David and Victoria. 'Seeing Nelson having such a pivotal role at the ceremony was heartbreaking for David especially. Not one member of the 30-plus extended family knew about the wedding, or were invited. 'His grandparents are devastated too as Brooklyn has always been so close to them. 'At the original wedding, for example, Liberty - the daughter of Victoria's sister, Louise — was a bridesmaid but even she has been cut off now. The rift runs far deeper than people realise. 'It feels cruel and spiteful. This is no longer a game. It has gone beyond all that. 'This is a family who feel they have lost their precious boy - and see no way back. Honestly, they are now questioning why he even wants to keep the 'Beckham' surname - will he revert to Peltz? August 2nd 2025 - is this the day Brooklyn formally declared himself no longer a part of the Beckham family? 'It certainly feels like it.' In the photos shared by the couple on Instagram, they are surrounded by Nicola's family and friends. Inside Brooklyn Beckham's 'financial flex' in feud with dad David as his £85m superyacht dwarfs family's £16m vessel The actress looked stunning in a repurposed dress which her mum Claudia wore when she married tycoon Nelson in 1985. She also sported the same original £1.3million ring. Brooklyn's original wedding with Nicola took place on Nelson's estate in Palm Beach, Florida, with Brooklyn's sister Harper among the bridesmaids. This time the couple chose Nelson's Westchester estate in New York as the backdrop. Alongside the images, the couple wrote: 'only love.' They also posted a video of their very casual proposal on TikTok alongside a song by Ysabelle Cuevas with the words: 'Lost in your eyes.' Brooklyn, who wore a suit with no tie, called the ceremony a 'really beautiful experience' which was all about creating a 'really cute memory' they would treasure forever. However his family are understood to be questioning the need to renew his vows after just three years. One friend said: 'They would understand if it was, say, 10 years down the line - maybe even five. But three?! It seems like quite a gratuitous display of obscene wealth. Also, if Brooklyn wanted to create a really cute memory, why couldn't he have just let his family know their plans first? 'To be honest, although there have been moments of rapprochement, this hostility dates back to 2021, around six months before the original wedding. The dynamics have just never really gelled. 'Of course David and Victoria want Brooklyn to be happy and clearly he is wildly in love still, but a lot of people have been hurt. It is a very sad situation and everyone fears there is no way back now. It is done.' There had been a lot of tension before the original wedding. 12 12 12 12 The Beckhams claim Nicola was a 'bridezilla' and hard work, while the Peltzes say their in-laws are 'tight'. Nicola also revealed Victoria reneged on a pledge to design her dress, infuriating the former Spice Girl. There were also claims Victoria hijacked the first dance. Earlier this year Brooklyn and Nicola were absent from the ex-Man United star's 50th birthday celebrations. He also recently U-turned on the inspiration behind his Cloud-23 hot sauce company - insisting it was named after the day he proposed to his US actress wife. Last year he said it was a nod to the shirt number worn by his dad, who invested heavily in the company. 12 The aspiring chef has his first set of vows tattooed on his arm and now admits he'll have to 'find space' for more. He told People magazine: 'To be honest, I could renew my vows every single day with her. I think the most important thing that someone can do is find that person that they're going to spend the rest of their life with. 'It definitely shapes you as a person. It was really, really cute. It was really fun.' Last night some fans turned against the young couple. One commented: 'If you both really don't like being part of the Beckhams that much, change your last full name and become Nicola and Brooklyn Peltz. That's it.' Another posted: 'Wow! Poor Harper! Poor David! Without him you'd have NO Name Brooklyn, and you'd never have had a chance to meet her [Nicola]. Poor Victoria…' 12 12 The Beckham Family Feud April 2022: Brooklyn marries Nicola Peltz. Wedding Dress Controversy: Rumours begin circulating that there's tension between Nicola and Victoria Beckham after Nicola chooses not to wear a Victoria Beckham -designed wedding gown. Nicola later clarifies in August 2022 (and again in March 2023) that Victoria's atelier couldn't make the dress in time, but reports in May 2025 suggest Victoria actually changed her mind about making the dress. Post-Wedding (2022 onwards): Minimal interaction between Nicola and Victoria on social media, and noticeable absence of Nicola at key Beckham family events. Alleged Wedding "Hijack": In May 2025, a source claimed Victoria "ruined" part of the wedding by allegedly hijacking a dance with Marc Anthony, which was meant for Brooklyn and Nicola. Nicola reportedly ran from the room crying. March 2025: A resurfaced TikTok of Romeo and Cruz mimicking a "baby voice" (which fans associate with Nicola) sparks speculation of sibling shade. April 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola are reportedly absent from Victoria Beckham's 51st birthday celebrations in Miami and her Paris Fashion Week show. May 2025: David Beckham's 50th Birthday Snub: Brooklyn and Nicola are notably absent from David Beckham's 50th birthday celebrations in London, despite being invited. Reports suggest their absence was due to Brooklyn not wanting to be in the same room as Kim Turnbull, the girlfriend of Romeo who had previously been reported to have been dating Brooklyn, who David allegedly opted to have at the party over Nicola. Rumours emerge of a falling out between Brooklyn and his younger brother Romeo, reportedly due to Romeo's new girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull, who allegedly had a past connection with Brooklyn. Reports surface that the Beckham parents are "hurt and disappointed" that Brooklyn is "playing no part in family life." Sources claim that tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and his parents are "definitely not beyond repair." June 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly enlist a "crisis team" similar to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for "reputation management" due to the growing media scrutiny. Cruz Beckham posts cryptic lyrics on Instagram that some interpret as a swipe at Brooklyn. July 2025: Reports indicate David and Victoria are "desperate" to reconcile with Brooklyn. Brooklyn publicly wishes his sister Harper a happy 14th birthday on Instagram, tagging Nicola, which is seen as a potential "olive branch" and a rare public message to his family amid the rumored rift. Brooklyn UNFOLLOWS his brothers Romeo and Cruz just 24 hours after his birthday message to Harper. Nicola quickly follows suit and also ditches the Beckham bros from her Instagram following. Romeo and Cruz are now also no longer following Brooklyn.

Brooklyn and Nicola have declared war against ‘toxic' Beckhams – but there's a final move they still need to make
'ONLY love' declared Nicola and Brooklyn Beckham on their respective Instagram feeds as they renewed their wedding vows. Whilst hatefully excluding their in-laws, the family that gave them half their lucrative surname. 2 2 Because make no bones about it, August 2nd 2025 was the day this young couple declared war, deliberate or otherwise, on David and Victoria. Two parents who, despite their faults - after all, nobody is perfect, nobody - unquestionably are devoted, loving parents. Brooklyn and Nicola are doubtless head-over-heels in love. A therapist might say 'co-dependant'. But whatever. They love each other. Very much. That they found room for their beloved dogs, but not young Harper or Brooklyn's aging grandparents, seems especially telling. But why shouldn't they celebrate that special, erm, three year landmark? Nicola's dad is worth £1.2 billion. That money ain't gonna spend itself. There has been so much fervid speculation over the past six months or so about this family feud. And whilst it is a lazy trope to always blame the woman - in this case Nicola - it DOES seem cruel for Brooklyn not to have at least alerted the Beckhams to what they were planning. Details would willingly share to their combined 21 million followers worldwide. David Beckham sings with son Cruz as they reveal glimpse of lavish holiday I do not begrudge a young couple in love- good luck to them. And they can invite whomsoever they choose. But to dismiss one half of the family is a devastating blow to David and Victoria, and just as heartbreaking for the extended family. Brooklyn, who really is a very sweet and humble boy, cannot help the surname he inherited at birth. But if he really has had enough of his parents, people he clearly regards as toxic, then perhaps he could put his money where his mouth off - and lose their surname once and for all. Let's see.
