Report: Lakers F Dorian Finney-Smith has ankle surgery
June 12 - Los Angeles Lakers forward Dorian Finney-Smith had surgery on his left ankle and is expected to be ready for fall training camp for next season, ESPN reported on Thursday. Finney-Smith, 32, has played through the lingering injury for several years, according to the report, and the surgery will make him pain-free. He missed eight games last season due to left ankle issues, per Lakers' injury reports, after sitting out 12 games with the Brooklyn Nets for a sprained left ankle and a left calf contusion which he had said was related to the ankle issue. Finney-Smith averaged 7.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 43 regular-season games (20 starts) with the Lakers, who acquired him from Brooklyn on Dec. 29, 2024. Los Angeles was 29-14 in games he played, including 14-6 as a starter, and qualified as the Western Conference's No. 3 seed in the playoffs. He averaged 10.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 20 games (all starts) with the Nets last season. For his career, Finney-Smith has averaged 8.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 28.0 minutes in 591 games (444 starts) for the Dallas Mavericks (2016-23), Nets (2023-24) and Lakers. Finney-Smith has a June 29 deadline to opt out of the final year of his contract, with a value of $15.4 million for next season. He has been eligible since mid-February to negotiate an extension before the beginning of free agency on June 30. --Field Level Media

Kylie Kelce left disturbed by Eagles fan's revolting tattoo of husband Jason in the nude
Kylie Kelce was left disturbed by an Eagles fan's revolting tattoo of her NFL legend husband Jason Kelce, where a team logo is in place of the lineman's manhood and the behemoth is in the nude. Joseph Moreira works at Pale Horse Tattoo Studio in Philadelphia and posted the tattoo from a female client's arm on TikTok, which has since gone viral. In the tattoo, Jason is seen wearing cleats, knee pads, elbow pads, and his wrists are taped. Everything else is exposed with the future Hall of Famer in the buff. 'Excuse me???' Kylie commented on the TikTok, possibly in hopes of the couple's three daughters not seeing the imagery. 'I'm not sure if I should be offended or flattered. I think it's more flattered, it's a generous bird, good sized head,' Jason added on social media. Moreira told the idea for the tattoo started as a bet with a fan of one of Philadelphia's arch rivals. The post of Jason inked in the nude has gone viral, with both Kylie and Jason commenting on it 'My client came to me for this traditional Jason Kelce tattoo. She's a Giants fan and was betting against the Eagles,' Moreira said. 'Part of the bet was if the Giants lost the game, she would get this Jason Kelce pin-up tattoo.' 'She told me the idea and that's the design I came up with. Even though the Giants lost, she was excited to get the piece and it's honestly one of my favorites.' The video has been viewed more than 500,000 times since it was posted. 'I was going to say strong beak!' fellow retired NFL offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth said of the ink. Jason and Kylie have four daughters, 5-year-old Wyatt, Elliotte, 4, 2-year-old Bennett, and Finnley, who was born two months ago.

Rockies plan to active LHP Austin Gomber for Sunday start
June 12 - The Colorado Rockies plan to activate interim left-hander Austin Gomber, who has not played this season due to left shoulder soreness, and start him on Sunday at Atlanta, manager Warren Schaeffer said on Thursday. Gomber, 31, is on the 60-day injured list after making just one appearance in spring training on Feb. 25. The Rockies on Thursday optioned rookie left-hander Carson Palmquist, who was scheduled to start against the Braves, to Triple-A Albuquerque and recalled right-hander Anthony Molina from the affiliate. Gomber threw 69 pitches and struck out five while allowing one hit, three walks and one unearned run in four innings of a rehabilitation start on Tuesday for Albuquerque. He went 5-12 last season for Colorado with a 4.75 ERA, 38 walks and 116 strikeouts in a career-high 165 innings over 30 starts. Gomber is a career 35-40 with a 4.86 ERA, 203 walks and 505 strikeouts in 648 innings over 156 games (112 starts) for the St. Louis Cardinals (2018, 2020) and Rockies (2021-present). The 24-year-old Palmquist, the No. 5 starter in the Rockies' rotation, is 0-4 with a 7.77 ERA, 13 walks and 16 strikeouts in 22 innings over five starts. Colorado selected him in the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of the University of Miami. Molina, 23, has pitched one inning for Colorado this season and struck out one of three batters faced. --Field Level Media
