MYSTERY has deepened over a Brit tourist who vanished off a beach in Greece while her husband was sleeping.
Michele Ann Joy Bourda, 59, was last seen wearing a two-piece beaded swimsuit, yellow beach shoes, and red sunglasses on Ofrynio beach in Kavala, police said.

She is believed to have gone to the beach with her husband, who was reportedly asleep when the woman disappeared.
When he woke up, the woman was nowhere to be found, according to local media reports.
It's understood the woman's belongings were still at the beach after she disappeared.
Sources told The Sun that the search area could be extended.

They said: "We are giving it our all.
"There are still no signs as to whether she went missing on land or sea but right now there are no plans either to end this search.
"We are not at that stage."
A Silver Alert was issued after authorites failed to locate the woman and said there are "no signs of her".

Authorities confirmed that the woman is a British national and they believe her life could be in danger.
The British embassy in Greece issued an alert notice saying: "Michele Ann BOURDA went missing on 01/08/2025 at the beach of Ofrynio in Kavala.
"On the day she went missing, she was wearing a swimsuit with decorative stones, yellow water shoes, and red plastic sunglasses.
"Her life is in danger."

Yesterday, Greece's Hellenic Coast Guard told The Sun that a search operation via sea continues.
It is believed that part of the beach from where she disappeared is surrounded by extensive crops, houses and a large reservoir.
The Sun has approached the UK Foreign Office for comment.

It comes after another Brit tourist vanished from a Greek holiday island last month after his car was found abandoned.
Cops launched a search and rescue operation to find the Brit man, 60, who was last seen in the Tristomo village of Karpathos.
It is understood that the Brit was staying in a rented room in Olympos, Karpathos, which is near Rhodes island.
He had also rented a car for his transportation, which authorities found parked and locked in the Korfasia area of Avlonas, local media reports.

According to security sources, a team of eight police officers with four vehicles, firefighters and members of the Greek coast guard have launched an investigation.
The Brit's landlord informed authorities that she last spoke to him on the morning of June 27.
It comes after a Brit tourist tragically died while on a sun lounger in a Greek paradise island.
The 73-year-old man was reportedly found by fellow holidaymakers in Agia Paraskevi, Skiathos, last week.

Emergency services were then called after the lifeguard attempted to perform first aid on the Brit.
A local doctor tried to revive the man for 40 minutes - but unfortunately was unable to do so.
Earlier this month, another Brit tourist died at a popular Greek island.
The 68-year-old holidaymaker was found dead after he reportedly went swimming and lost consciousness on the island of Rhodes, local media reported.

Officers from the Central Port Authority of Rhodes rushed to the scene of the incident at the popular tourist spot of Lindos.
The man was rushed to the Archangelos Health Centre, but was sadly pronounced dead.
And last August, a 71-year-old Brit tourist was pulled unconscious from the sea in Greece.

Bethany said: 'I was very nervous. I was about to sit opposite and look into the eyes of the man who had done so much harm to my dad. I needed answers. I needed an apology but what I got was a game from Kotey. "When I got in the room, he was so relaxed, like nothing had happened. It was like chatting with someone in a café not someone who had tormented your dad. He doodled and drew spirals with a pen as I talked to him. 'He acted like it was a game. He told me things I didn't know. He said my dad was abducted after he spotted him outside a kebab house. "He said they took dad to hospital dressed as an IS fighter as he had become very ill and he blamed the other terrorists for driving the violence and torture. I took it all with a pinch of salt. 'He told me that before his beheading my dad accepted his fate and smiled. He wanted a reaction from me. He said my dad said to Mohammed Emwazi, the terrorist who beheaded him, 'make it quick'. "I could see that he was trying to make me uncomfortable and get a rise out of me. I asked him if he felt any remorse. He just came back and said, 'you can't inherit an apology'. 'I asked Kotey four times if he was sorry for abducting and torturing my dad and he just skirted around the answer. It was like getting blood out of a stone. He eventually said, 'ok, I'm sorry for kidnapping and hurting your dad'. 'That was all I needed. I told him to 'rot in hell', slammed my notes and folders down in front of him and walked out the room. I didn't want to give him another second. I wanted those words to be the last he heard from me.' She sat through every day of his trial. She said: 'I made a point of looking at him when speaking to him across the courtroom in my victim impact statement. He had the look of a little boy - someone who had done something naughty rather than being involved in the most evil of beheadings. "When I read my statement, he looked broken to start with, but I told him that there is nothing in the Quran that justifies the violence meted out to my father. I even quoted a passage back to him. I vividly remember that he just looked at me and snarled.' But in February this year, she met the most evil of her father's foes. 'Dark, dead eyes' Bethany had been tormented by the knowledge that other unknown men who had horrifically tortured and enslaved her dad had never been brought to justice. One of them was Mehdi Nemmouche, who had already been convicted of the Brussels Jewish Museum terror attack which killed four in 2014. You could tell that if he had a chance he would kill everyone in that courtroom. 'He gave off an awful vibe, let any remorse, and smirked and rolled his eyes after every comment that I made to him. 'I sat through every second of his six-week trial. I read a statement to him and was very forceful. He looked into my eyes with his dark pools of deadness and kept smirking. But after a weekend of cava and chaos, I like to bolt on a few chilled-out days somewhere a bit calmer and just over an hour's drive away from the bustling city. While most tour groups might end up in the neighbouring resort of Lloret de Mar - think all-inclusive wristbands and packed beaches - Tossa de Mar is where more locals go. What's more, it was recently named one of the country's cheapest beach resorts. Advertisement Averaging just £508 a week per person, TravelSupermarket's latest report named it one of 'the most affordable Spanish beach destinations for summer 2025'. That's proper value considering you're not only getting relaxing beach vibes, but a picturesque town brimming with boutique shops, and lots of trendy restaurants and bars all in one. Even with a name that might make some giggle when said out loud, Tossa really should cost more. It has history, authentic food, stunning beaches - and after paying for your hotel, you still have enough left for dinner and drinks. In fact, I was able to tuck into delicious Tapas with wine for two of us, costing us less than £30 altogether. Advertisement It might be small, meaning most things were within walking distance and saving us money on taxis, but Tossa de Mar packs a punch. It has its own castle right on the beach, a pretty marina, and barely any Brits there. The Spanish region undiscovered by Brits despite seaside views and ancient Roman cities This also means you won't see as many anti-tourism marches either, compared to the ongoing protests in Barcelona. In fact, you are more likely to see Korean tourists rather than Brits, after it was made popular by both a TV series and Kpop music video being filmed there. Top tips on what to do if visiting Tossa de Mar You can explore cobbled lanes, shop for local crafts, grab a gelato, or head up to the castle for epic sunset views. Advertisement The old town, called Vila Vella, is like a medieval picture book boasting quaint stone streets, tiny squares, and loads of independent shops. In just one afternoon, you can saunter through the shopping streets, climb the ramparts, peek out over the sea, then finish it off with tapas in a chiringuito (beach bar) looking across the waves. If, like me, you're not here for tourist-trap cafes and chain restaurants, Tossa's food scene is a breath of fresh air. All over the town, you'll find family-run restaurants where everything's homemade and the prices are reasonable. One of those is Bar La Lluna - a tiny, family-run gem tucked behind some cobbled backstreets. What's more, a table of tapas for two and a few glasses of wine each cost just €30 (£26). Advertisement Then there's Restaurante Portal, which does tapas with a twist. It's got a trendy, modern interior and a menu that's more creative than your usual. I went for the soft-shell crab brioche, and a tortilla de bacalao (cod) - both of which were unreal. The entire meal, consisting of three tapas plates to share and two main dishes, with drinks, costing just over €50 (£45) for two. Wash it down with a cocktail and you're set for the night. You can grab an Aperol Spritz here for just €6.80 (£5.90). After dinner, you can wander through the town and grab dessert from one of the many gelato shops in the square. A cone piled high with different flavours will only set you back a few euros. Try the turrón flavour for something more local. Advertisement Just wanting drinks? Canela en Rama is worth a visit. This slick cocktail bar right by the castle with sea views has a real grown-up feel. The cocktails are expertly made here, with lots of attention to detail. They start at around €12 (£10.50), which is pretty good for such an upmarket place. I had one of the best cocktails of my trip here, and the staff made me feel like a regular. You can also get a glass of cava for €4 (£3.50) if cocktails aren't your bag. Generally, evenings in Tossa are mellow - think ice-cold cava, candlelit tables, and the sound of conversation in Spanish or Catalan - not karaoke, kebab stalls or people stilling out of clubs. Of course, if you really want the cheap beers, head to the local Bar Josep, running since 1966, where you can find pints for under €4. Advertisement Bar Savoy is just as cheap with tapas from €1.50 and similarly priced pints. When to visit the town As always, July and August are the busiest months to visit Tossa, but even then, the resort stays relatively chilled. June or September is the sweet spot - warm weather and sunny skies but less hustle. If you go off-peak (May or October), you'll still get heatwave moments - great for dipping in the Med, roaming the ramparts, and dining outdoors. Where to stay When it comes to accommodation, I always stay at Gran Hotel Reymar, which is practically on the beach. Advertisement It's a four-star but really affordable. Rooms are fresh, clean and modern, and it's located right in the middle of everything. There's also a big pool and spa area. Room prices start at around €126 (£110) per night, though that jumps to about €180 (£160) in high season. If you want something with a bit more character, Hotel Diana is a good pick. 7 Four-star hotels are also pretty cheap compared to Barcelona Credit: Lee Bell Nestled in a historic Modernist building right on the beach with its own terrace and two bars, it feels stylish, boutique, but still very relaxed. Double rooms start from around €113 (£99) per night. It's right in the heart of town, super comfy, and ideal for anyone who likes something a bit less cookie-cutter. Advertisement Both hotels are within walking distance of the beach, castle and bars - so whether you're into spa days or historic vibes, you're sorted. How to get there Getting to Tossa is fuss-free, and you won't need a car. If you want to fly there directly from the UK, you can get there in just half an hour after landing at Girona airport. Or, if you're heading there from Barcelona, you can hop on a bus from the city's coach station, Estació del Nord, in roughly one hour and it only costs €12 (£10.20). It might be more expensive, but if you opt to hire a car, it'll be even easier to explore Tossa's neighbouring towns and resorts, like Platja de Canyelles, or even pop inland to explore the medieval town of Girona.
