Baahubali: During the film's making, SS Rajamouli asked Prabhas to block 1.5 years of his life for the films. Find out how the actor reacted.
Prabhas has firmly established himself as a pan-India star, thanks to some of his films, including Baahubali, Salaar, Kalki 2898 AD, which have each crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark globally. However, Baahubali was one of the first films in his career that catapulted his fame overnight. Filmmaker SS Rajamouli once revealed that the role of Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali was written only for Prabhas. He also shared how Prabhas reacted when he asked for one and a half years of his time.
Among his most iconic roles, Amarendra Baahubali from Baahubali has become one of Indian cinema's most beloved characters. Director SS Rajamouli once revealed that the role was written only for Prabhas. 'We worked on a film 10 years before Baahubali and became close friends," Rajamouli said, adding 'When I asked for one and a half years of dates, he laughed and said, 'You'll never finish in that time.' He kept himself free for three and a half years—and the film ended up taking five."
Rajamouli added that while most characters were cast post-writing, Prabhas was the only actor the team had in mind from the beginning. 'With Anushka [Shetty], Sivagami, and Katappa, we wrote characters first. But for Prabhas, we wrote the character for him."
Prabhas' Baahubali films to re-release in theatres
On 10 glorious years of Baahubali, SS Rajamouli revealed that a special two-part combined version of the film will be released on October 31 this year. Taking to his Instagram stories section, S S Rajamouli wrote, 'Baahubali. The beginning of many journeys.Countless memories. Endless inspiration. It's been 10 years. Marking this special milestone with #BaahubaliTheEpic, a two-part combined film. In theatres worldwide on October 31, 2025."
Baahubali: The Beginning, the first installment of the epic two-part franchise helmed by SS Rajamouli and starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah in lead roles, hit theatres on July 10, 2015. The film shattered box office records and went on to become a massive blockbuster. The second part, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which release two years after the first part, in 2017, was an equally big hit.
Up next, Prabhas has a stacked slate with Kalki 2, Salaar 2, The Raja Saab, and Spirit in the pipeline.

Indian gamers are no longer just students

Bengaluru; A new nationwide study released by Indian electronics brand Kreo has revealed a major shift in the country's gaming landscape, with more than 35% of gamers now comprising working professionals, including engineers, entrepreneurs, creators, and marketers. Women above 35 are emerging as one of the fastest-growing gamer demographics, the study notes. Titled 'How India Games', the report draws on responses from over 5,900 gamers across the country, providing one of the most detailed portraits of the Indian gaming community to date. It comes amid rapid growth in the sector — a recent WinZO–IEIC report projected India's gaming market to more than double to $9.1 billion by 2029. Among the key insights: • India's gaming population is growing at an annual rate of 16%. • While 94% of gamers are still men, women above the age of 35 are entering the space in large numbers. • 73% of female gamers admitted to concealing their gender online, citing experiences of harassment — yet many are leading and building new communities. • Mobile phones remain the dominant gaming device for 88% of players, even among multi-platform users. • Over half of all gamers express an active interest in creating content or joining the esports industry, suggesting growing ambitions around gaming careers. Interestingly, while most Indian parents still consider gaming a 'waste of time,' around 10% have begun playing alongside their children, suggesting a generational softening of attitudes. 'Gaming was an escape for me growing up,' said Ishan Sukul, Co-founder and CEO of Kreo. 'Today, it's how millions of Indians connect and express themselves. Through this report, we wanted to understand gaming not just as a hobby, but as a response to deeper cultural shifts — including loneliness and mental health.'
