Simple three-ingredient salad dressing recipe is perfect for summer
A quick and easy salad dressing recipe that requires just three store cupboard ingredients has gone viral, and people are desperate to try it out for themselves.
Salad is an essential fixture of the summer dining table, and everyone has their preferred way to savour it. For some, a fresh garden salad complements the main dish well, whilst others make a hearty meal of it by packing in fats, proteins, and carbs— for instance, with dishes like chicken Caesar or salad Niçoise.
One widely accepted notion is that salad is elevated with a splash of dressing, yet many off-the-shelf dressings tend to go off before you've had the chance to use up the bottle. A straightforward concoction of three pantry staples might just solve your issues of eating undressed greens.
According to Simply Recipes, this luscious dressing involves merely three ingredients and takes no longer than five minutes to create from scratch.
It's quite adaptable, suitable for dressing simple salads, notably those containing chicken, and ideal as well for whipping up homemade coleslaw.
Rachel Knecht from Simply Recipes mentions she often whips up this sweetened dressing "on repeat" to complement her preferred salad made of grilled chicken, white rice, crisp iceberg lettuce, and thin carrot strips, reports the Express.
The base formula is quite simple: just blend together rice vinegar, sugar, and mayonnaise. Rachel points out: "Sometimes you'll find sesame oil or poppy seeds added. I add salt, but again, you could skip it if you want to."
For the serving size, Rachel's recipe yields about half a cup, which suffices to nicely cover a full head of iceberg lettuce, making roughly four portions.
Creamy salad dressing recipe
Ingredients
1/4 cup rice vinegar
Two tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup full-fat mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt (optional)
One teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
Method
Rachel points out that the simplicity of this recipe allows for easy adjustments according to personal taste preferences.
She describes her original version as "more tangy than sweet" but suggests increasing the sugar incrementally by one teaspoon if needed, allowing for flexibility in flavour.
For best results, using full-fat mayonnaise is encouraged, as it helps prevent the mixture from curdling when it meets the vinegar.
This also grants the added benefit of making the sauce ahead of time and storing it in the refrigerator for as long as two days, without compromising texture.
The first step in creating the dressing is combining the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt into a small container and whisking until smooth.
You can stop whisking once the sugar and salt have dissolved. Then, incorporate the mayonnaise by whisking, ensuring the dressing's silky texture.
You may also whisk in sesame oil and poppy seeds at this time if you decide to use them.
If desired, season with pepper for extra flavour.
Now, pour the dressing gently into a bowl containing your freshly washed salad before tossing the mix to blend all the ingredients together.

The S Club 7 star who was partnered with the pro skater on Dancing On Ice in 2022, conducted an Instagram Stories Q&A with her fans. During the session where her followers were able to ask her personal questions, one fan asked the star: 'How are you and Brendyn (love heart emoji).' She announced her separation from her childhood sweetheart in July 2022, just one month shy of their 13th anniversary. The S Club icon then announced she had found love with Dancing On Ice partner Brendyn. The couple went official with their romance in November 2023 after they were first paired together on the ITV show. Rachel previously lifted the lid on her separation from Alex during an appearance on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, comparing it to 'jumping off a cliff.' She admitted: 'It's a lot of navigating, especially with the girls because they've always been at the forefront.' 'I'm very lucky, their dad is a great dad, and we've always been so aligned with keeping them really safe in it and being really honest. 'We've had great advice on how to age-appropriately speak to them and help them feel safe in it all because that was my biggest fear - how they are going to be in all of this. She continued: 'You're changing your life. It's not only a marriage, it's a family around it, it's your friendship groups, your home, your children.' 'Changing your whole life, for me it felt like jumping off a cliff, like wow, it's the unknown. 'But I've always believed that we have to be happy, we have to be true to ourselves, and it's not something you decide overnight, it's something that takes so much thought and questioning. 'I haven't talked about it a lot publicly because I'm so mindful of everyone involved.' The former couple were childhood sweethearts and reconnected in the mid-2000s when Rachel was launching her solo career and Alex was still trying to make it as an actor in Los Angeles. They got engaged in June 2008 after 18 months of dating and tied the knot at Claridge's in London the following year. The pair walked down the aisle to S Club 7's hit Never Had A Dream Come True, and her bandmates - Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole and Tina Barrett - were there to watch them say 'I do'. The former couple also share two daughters, Amelie, 14, and Minnie, 11.

Next, dust a bit of flour over your kitchen counter, roll out your dough to a thickness of two centimetres, and use a seven-centimetre cutter to shape out your scones. Reroll any leftovers to make a full dozen. Flip the scones upside down onto a baking tray, glaze the tops with some beaten egg, and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until they're gloriously golden and well risen. Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool a bit, then slice open and stuff with butter, cream and your homemade raspberry compote.

Jamie Oliver says there's one ingredient you should use to cook the best steak
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, famed as The Naked Chef and face of Channel 4 cookery shows, has spilled the beans on crafting the ultimate steak. If you're looking to woo your significant other with a steak dinner at home, Jamie insists there's no need to douse your sirloin in pricey cooking oils or unhealthy fats. In a tutorial on his YouTube channel, Jamie shared his tip for achieving 'delicious, melt in your mouth' sirloin using nothing but the steak's own fat. Dispensing with the need for additional oil, Jamie advises trimming the steak's fat, dicing it finely, and letting it supply its natural essence. READ MORE - Man who knew Madeleine McCann suspect makes dramatic plea to police during search READ MORE - Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson opens up on 'health struggle' on holiday The culinary maestro said: "We're gonna cook a beautiful steak for date night, steak night." Describing his method, Jamie expressed: "It's really quick, it's really delicious, I wanna share with you a brilliant technique for making the perfect sirloin steak, tender, melt in your mouth, cut like butter.", reports the Express. He began by prepping a non-stick skillet on medium flame, then tackled the beef sirloin. Jamie proposed: "What I would suggest to do is pull this fat off, and this fat is really really important, it's going to give you the flavour. "But what we don't want is that sinew. That really tough bit that you kind of push to the side. "It's a real pain. "So what I love to do is slice [the fat] up into little chunks, and render it down. So instead of putting butter or oil in this pan, we're going to cook the steak in the steak fat. "Then get the knife and cut off the piece of sinew. Get rid of that." He then said you fry the cut up fat, add cloves of garlic, which will flavour the fat. Then season the steak with black pepper and sea salt, and pat it in. He added: "What I'm doing is one thicker steak for two people, and cook it medium rare." Before adding the steak to the pan, throw in some spring onions, and slice open two red chillis, taking care to remove the seeds first so it's not too spicy. Once that's sizzled for a while, take it all out of the pan, and put the steak in. The pan will already have natural beef juices in from the fat. Jamie added: "When pan-frying a steak, do it a minute on each side until it's cooked to your liking. "Whether it's well done, medium, medium rare, rare, whatever you like. For me medium rare is what I'm after, about three minutes on each side." When you take it out, place it on top of the spring onions and chillis you removed earlier. For those feeling really daring, you can also blend up a sauce using the rest of your chillis, spring onions and add jarred peppers, and serve the steak sliced up on top, Jamie added.
