Hamilton's New Douglas Park opened up for pitch hire after Accies exit
The stadium owners are looking to fill the void after the Accies men's team and academy moved out
The owners of New Douglas Park have announced the stadium will be available for pitch hire from the start of July - dashing any glimmer of hope Hamilton Accies fans had of the club doing a U-turn on their proposed move away from their spiritual home.
Hamilton Accies announced last month that they are leaving the town for Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld after failing to strike a deal to purchase NDP from its current owners. The club's academy has since followed suit and the club announced this week they have found a new - as yet unamed - home within Hamilton for the Elite academy to continue.
Conversely, SWPL2 champions Accies Women announced they would not be following suit and have come to an arrangement with stadium owners Hamilton Stadium Ltd to remain at New Douglas Park.
League Two club Clyde are also tenants at the ground, but with two major users of the facilty now away, the stadium owners are welcoming teams to apply to use the facilities to fill the void.
A statement from the owners on the Hamilton Community Stadium Facebook page read: "With Hamilton Accies Elite Youth Academy now following their first team in relocating to other training facilities, pitch hire's here at New Douglas Park will become available from the 1st of July.

Player-boss Rhys McCabe said: "We've seen over the years that Euan is a good player who is dynamic, quick and offers versatility in the forward areas. "He's direct and positive, and in our environment that will hopefully bring the best out in him as well as adding to our attacking options."

Former St Mirren kid joins Airdrie as boss hails 'exciting' signing with 'great footballing IQ'
The Diamonds have made their third summer signing Airdrieonians have announced their third summer signing with the arrival of former St Mirren academy kid Adam Aird. The 17-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a deal after training with the first team in the final few months of last season's Championship campaign. His performance have impressed player/boss Rhys McCabe and he sees similarities between Aird and current first team star Dean McMaster. McCabe said: 'Adam's an exciting young player who will be fully focused on transitioning into the first team. 'He's in a similar mould to Dean McMaster – mature beyond his years, technically gifted and has a great footballing IQ in the middle of the pitch. 'His attitude and hunger to improve will help him to fulfil his potential as a real exciting prospect for the future.' On his move, Adam said: 'I'm delighted to be here, I've thoroughly enjoyed the last few months training with the team. 'It's a great opportunity for me, and I can't wait to get started!' Aird's arrival comes off the back of ex-Hamilton Accies defender Sean McGinty joining last week and former Stranraer defender Craig Ross signing up late last month.
