Appointment As Wardens Allows Ex-servicemen To Continue Serving Society
Army Deputy Chief Lieutenant General Datuk Tengku Muhammad Fauzi Tengku Ibrahim said that in addition to curbing disciplinary offences such as, especially in schools, such an initiative also provides second career opportunities for military personnel or veterans.
"We welcome agencies that are willing to take in veterans as part of their workforce. Having served for more than 20 years, if they were to retire at say 40 or 41, there is still a job market for them in the outside world.
"The experience they gained while in service, be it discipline, physical or spiritual aspects, they can share it with the public and put it to good use,' he told reporters after the closing ceremony of the Basic Rapid Deployment Force Course (APAC) Series 2/2025 at Jambatan Angkat here today.
He added that the MAF is always ready to equip its personnel to be "redeployed' in the context of national and community development after retirement.
Previously, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that he would appoint former military and police personnel as full-time wardens in all Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) boarding schools to tackle bullying and other disciplinary cases, as well as to assure a safe and peaceful learning environment for all students.
Asyraf Wajdi posted on Facebook recently that the first group of full-time wardens, comprising ex-police and military personnel, would begin their duty at the Besut MRSM and Balik Pulau MRSM in Penang on Monday.
In another development, Tengku Muhammad Fauzi reiterated that the MAF would never compromise with any personnel found to have committed offences that tarnished the image of the military and the country.
He added that not only would no privileges be given, but military personnel involved in any wrongdoing would also be subject to two sets of laws - civil law and military law.

Pork Smuggling, Pan Borneo Highway Status Among Focus At Dewan Rakyat Today
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The Dewan Rakyat session today will see focus on issues such as pork smuggling, status of the Pan Borneo Highway (LPB) construction, and the resignations of doctors and nurses in public healthcare facilities. According to the Order Paper on the Parliament website, Sim Tze Tzin (PH-Bayan Baru), during the oral question session, will query the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security on the enforcement actions by the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (MAQIS) against pork smuggling, which poses a threat with the spread of Streptococcus suis and African Swine Fever. Sim will also seek clarification on the number of arrests made for pork smuggling activities throughout this year. During the same session, Datuk Dr Alias Razak (PN-Kuala Nerus) will ask the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability to explain the status of feasibility studies related to rare earth element (REE) mining activities in Permanent Forest Reserves (HSK) and the timeline for the completion of the study. Datuk Matbali Musah (GRS-Sipitang) will question the Minister of Works about the current status and detailed timeline for each phase of the Pan Borneo Highway construction, specifically for WP01 (Sindumin-Melalia) and WP02 (Melalia-Beaufort) sections. Meanwhile, Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang) will ask the Minister of Health to provide detailed information on the number of doctors and nurses who have resigned, the number of recruits from 2020 to June 30, 2025, and the measures being implemented to address staff shortages in government hospitals. Following the Q&A session, the Dewan Rakyat will resume with winding-up speeches on the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13) by the relevant ministers. ‘Preserve harmony in govt'

Action must be taken in cases of legal violations, while political disputes should be resolved through proper channels, he said. 'We do not want any incident to force a political decision to be made, as this could disrupt the unity among the 18 parties in the Madani government. In my view, we must separate legal matters from political matters,' he said yesterday after officiating 'Program Santunan Desa' organised by the Community Development Department (Kemas) in Perak. Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president, urged all quarters to respect party decisions to maintain tolerance among component parties. 'Do not sensationalise an issue or try to become the most popular figure, only to end up damaging good relations between party leaders and at the grassroots level,' he added, Bernama reported. At another event, he said Felcra Bhd had continued to make history in strengthening national food security through the commercialisation of Felcra's MRQ 107 padi – a local fragrant rice variety that serves as a high-quality alternative to imported fragrant rice. Ahmad Zahid said the Seberang Perak area, covering more than 3,400ha and cultivated using modern methods by Felcra, has shown encouraging performance with an average yield reaching eight metric tonnes per hectare annually. 'We expect production to exceed 27,000 metric tonnes of padi, equivalent to over 16,000 metric tonnes of rice per year, which can meet the needs of thousands of families. Hopefully, this becomes an example for other padi farmers,' he said at the 2025 First Interim Distributable Profit Declaration Ceremony for Felcra Bhd participant projects here yesterday. Also present were Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang and Felcra Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Idris Lasim. Ahmad Zahid said Felcra Bhd recorded a profit of RM178mil between Jan to April 2025, an increase compared to the previous year. Of this amount, RM101mil will be distributed to 74,300 participants nationwide in stages. 'I congratulate Felcra Bhd for successfully maintaining a strong performance, with an increase of nearly RM2mil compared to the same period last year. I will be monitoring the profit distribution to all participants across the country,' he said. Idris said the strong performance of the first interim distribution for 2025 was due to several key factors, including efficient estate management and the implementation of cost-saving measures. 'Through effective approaches in the use of fertilisers, pesticides and farm inputs, operational costs were reduced by 15% and yield per hectare increased by 49%,' he said. Idris also said Felcra's palm oil projects recorded an average net profit increase of 81%. While profit distribution rates are influenced by crude palm oil price trends, he said improvements in estate performance remain the primary determining factor.
