Erling Haaland sends message to critics of his hairstyle - as Man City star's girlfriend and Jack Grealish make heartfelt 25th birthday posts
Haaland, who has been enjoying his off-season following the FIFA Club World Cup, shared a photo with fans on social media to mark the occasion during his break.
The forward, who has been holidaying on a yacht, was pictured with his shoulder length hair loose as he relaxed on board.
Haaland offered a joking comment about his advancing years and a cheeky message to critics of his famous hairstyle.
'Half way to 50! Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes,' Haaland wrote.
'Before you come for my hair, take a moment in front of the mirror and ask yourself -am I truly qualified to judge hair that looks better than mine?'
The star has been enjoying his off-season with his girlfriend Isabel Haugseng, who have been pictured in Ibiza and Rome in recent weeks
Haaland has enjoying some downtime following the Club World Cup with his girlfriend Isabel Haugseng.
Earlier this month, they were spotted in Ibiza, with the couple on a yacht alongside Haugseng's mother and their child, who was born last December.
The couple have been very private with their child and they are yet to publicly announce its gender or name.
Haugseng is believed to have met Haaland at the youth academy at Bryne, who they both played for.
They started dating when he was at Borussia Dortmund, with Isabel making frequent trips to visit him.
Despite a quiet private life, Haugseng has been increasingly seen in the public eye during Haaland's time at City, celebrating with him during their trophy successes.
The couple last week were present at two Dolce & Gabbana shows in Rome, with Haaland having struck an endorsement deal up to £2million with the Italian brand back in 2023.
Haugseng was among those to send messages to Haaland on social media to toast his 25th birthday, sharing a post of the couple dressed up as Vikings with the caption 'Happy Birthday to my Viking'.

Haaland's Man City team-mate and close friend Jack Grealish was another to mark the milestone.
'Happy birthday bruvaaaa, one of the best human,' Grealish wrote, adding several hearts in Man City colours.
The post showed Haaland and Grealish together as the celebrated one of their Premier League title wins.
While Haaland looks destined to lead Man City's title challenge again next season, Grealish's future is uncertain amid reports he has returned to training alone.
Grealish had been axed from Man City's Club World Cup squad and told that he could leave at the beginning of the summer.
Man City celebrated Haaland's 25th by sharing the message 'Happy Birthday to our number nine, @erling!', with images of the star celebrating scoring and lifting the Champions League back in 2023.
His former Borussia Dortmund team-mate Jadon Sancho added to the well wishes, writing 'Happy birthday brother, miss these moments we shared together'.
The Instagram post included video of the pair linking for Haaland to score for Dortmund.
Haaland, who has 124 goals in 146 matches for Man City, will soon be returning for pre-season training with his team-mates.
Man City will be eager to bounce back from a disappointing campaign last season under Per Guardiola, which saw them relinquish their Premier League title to Liverpool with only the Community Shield proving their sole honour.

Football stays home: England's Euro success
England have done something pretty extraordinary. They've won their second, successive major trophy and English football – for the women at least – is in a phenomenal place. Beating Spain to take the European title , the team they lost to in the World Cup final just two years ago, is an achievement that should not be understated. The Spanish world champions have the best female player in the world, in the form of Aitana Bonmati, and are dominant on the global scene. This final was about will v skill after England consistently showed fight to progress to the final, despite being on the back foot on several occasions in their matches leading up to Sunday's showdown. The Lionesses were ahead for only four minutes and 52 seconds across three knockout Euro2025 matches. It was clearly a team effort with contributions made at all levels, from the nutritionist to the captain, Leah Williamson. Goalkeeper Hannah Hampton revealed following the tournament that her grandfather had died just two days before their campaign began. Posting a tribute to him on her instagram account. Defender Lucy Bronze played with a broken tibia – a fact that was kept secret until after the very final whistle of the tournament. So many players had their own stories to tell. But two key names that have been continually mentioned are manager Sarina Wiegman, and forward Chloe Kelly, who scored the decisive penalty that lifted the trophy for England. Their success raises an often asked question – what is most important to a sports team – a great leader, or a star performer? In her coaching career, Wiegman has now reached five major finals in a row, and won three European Championships in a row, with two different nations – her native Netherlands in 2017 and then with the Lionesses in 2022 and 2025. What the England manager has done is incredible. She will go down in history alongside great sporting coaches, like basketball's Phil Jackson, who managed the Chicago Bulls and LA Lakers, and Pep Guardiola, who led Manchester City's men's team to six Premier League titles, and was Barcelona's most successful manager. Wiegman's tactics throughout this championship were constantly questioned and often criticised. But ultimately, if you're reaching finals and invariably winning them at the rate at which she has done, her methods are proven and any calls of luck appear to be just sour grapes. But ultimately football is about players and Chloe Kelly, in consecutive European championships and finals, has proved to be the decisive executioner. It was not so long ago she was considering taking a break from football. She had a difficult start to last season with Manchester City, and was fearing for her England place. But she signed on loan for Arsenal in January, and made her move to the club permanent in July, becoming part of their Women's Champions League title winning team. The rest is history. It's not just her crucial goals against Spain and four years ago against Germany that make Kelly special. She contributed throughout both tournaments and has the trust of her team and manager that when she's on the pitch, special things can happen. If she hadn't made that spot kick on Sunday, we might all now be commiserating with the team for losing again to Spain. Today, the players are celebrating as a team, with a victory parade in central London. Their success has provided a much needed 'good news boost' for many across the country. Once all the furore dies down, they will be back to training, and looking ahead to the next big competition, the World Cup in Brazil in 2027. Will Wiegman and Kelly still be there when that time comes – and what difference could their absence make? With young players coming through the squad, like Michelle Ageymang (voted best young player at the Euros), the future looks bright with or without the stars of this summer. What about the future lionesses? Women's football calls for investment Discussion: How has women's football changed? Euro 2022: How is England tackling a lack of diversity in women's football?

Pope Leo XIV gets rock star's welcome at Catholic influencer festival
Pope Leo XIV on Tuesday received a rock star's welcome at the Vatican's festival of Catholic influencers — priests, nuns and ordinary faithful who use their social media presence to preach and teach the faith — as he urged them to ensure that human relations don't suffer with the spread of digital ecosystems and artificial intelligence. History's first American pope was mobbed by hundreds of influencers, their cellphones hoisted high to stream the encounter, when he arrived in St. Peter's Basilica after a special Mass. The pilgrims have descended on Rome for a special Holy Year celebration of so-called 'digital missionaries,' part of the Vatican's weeklong Jubilee for young people that culminates this weekend with a vigil and Mass in a vast field on Rome's outskirts. Leo thanked the young people for using their digital platforms to spread the faith, and he gamely posed for selfies. But he warned them about neglecting human relationships in their pursuit of clicks and followers, and cautioned them to not fall prey to fake news and the 'frivolity' of online encounters. 'It is not simply a matter of generating content, but of creating an encounter between hearts,' Leo said in a speech that showed his ease switching from Italian to Spanish to English. 'Be agents of communion, capable of breaking down the logic of division and polarization, of individualism and egocentrism.' 'It is up to us – to each one of you – to ensure that this culture remains human,' he said. 'Our mission – your mission – is to nurture a culture of Christian humanism, and to do so together' in what he called the only networks that really matter: of friendship, love and the 'network of God.' Warnings against going off-message For the past two days, the Vatican's message to the young influencers has been one of thanks for their social media evangelizing, but also a warning to not allow their posting to go off-message or to neglect the human dimension of all encounters. For Leo, the issue is particularly heartfelt since he has said that addressing the threat to humanity posed by AI will be a priority of his pontificate. The Rev. David McCallum, an American Jesuit who heads a leadership development program and presented Monday, held periodic breaks with instructions for those in the audience to actually speak with the person next to them, for up to 10 minutes at a time. Cardinal Antonio Tagle, the head of the Vatican's evangelization office, urged the influencers to avoid anything that smacks of false advertising, coercion or brainwashing in their posting, or to use their platform to make money. He noted that he himself had been victim of a fake video advertising arthritis medicine. 'Brothers and sisters, be discerning,' Tagle told the influencers in his homily at Tuesday's Mass. A mini World Youth Day in Rome Tuesday began with groups of influencers and young pilgrims passing through the basilica's Holy Door, a rite of passage for the estimated 32 million people participating in the Vatican's 2025 Holy Year celebrations. This week, downtown Rome swarmed with energetic masses of teenage Catholic scouts, church and Catholic school groups. It all had the vibe of a scaled-down World Youth Day, the once-every-three-year Catholic Woodstock festival that was inaugurated by St. John Paul II. The most recent one in Lisbon, Portugal went viral thanks to the Rev. Guilherme Peixoto, a village priest in northern Portugal who also happens to be a DJ. He's in Rome this week, though it's not clear if he will reprise his now-famous set that woke the young people up before Pope Francis' final Mass in Lisbon. In it, he spliced into the set both St. John Paul II's exhortation to young people to 'be not afraid' and Francis' appeal in Lisbon that the church has room for everyone, 'todos, todos, todos.' ___ Associated Press religion coverage receives support through the AP's collaboration with The Conversation US, with funding from Lilly Endowment Inc. Manchester City on brink of completing £27m move, with transfer set to break a British record
Burnley 's James Trafford is completing a move back to Manchester City for an initial £27million. The 22-year-old had been courted by Newcastle United for well over a year but has opted for a return to the Etihad Stadium, where he came through the club's academy. City sold Trafford to Burnley for an initial £14m two years ago and inserted matching rights into the deal. Once Newcastle bid for the England Under-21 international last week, City had to quickly decide whether to make their move – despite neither Ederson nor Stefan Ortega leaving so far this summer. Trafford's switch should be finalised imminently and he is expected to provide competition for Ederson during the last year of the Brazilian's contract. Trafford conceded only 16 goals as Burnley secured promotion back to the Premier League last term, keeping an astonishing 30 Championship clean sheets. That equalled a 71-year EFL record, set by Port Vale, and Thomas Tuchel subsequently called him up to England's senior squad. If add-ons are triggered then Trafford's transfer will end up north of £30m. It will eclipse the British record for a goalkeeper set when Jordan Pickford joined Everton.
