Adani Group, Reliance, Vedanta to invest Rs 30,000-50,000 cr each in northeast India

plan to invest an additional ₹30,000-50,000 crore each in northeast India, the conglomerates announced at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit on Friday.
Reliance's investments across the region span retail, healthcare, and telecom services, while the Adani Group has invested in infrastructure, logistics networks, energy projects, and digital connectivity solutions.
Speaking at the event, Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director, said Reliance Industries has committed to investing ₹45,000 crore more in the Northeast. "Reliance has invested around ₹30,000 crore in the region in the past 40 years," he said, adding, "In the next five years, we will more than double our investments, with our target at ₹75,000 crore".

RIL's investments will cover telecom, retail, renewable energy, biofuel, healthcare, and sports infrastructure across all eight Northeastern states.
Reliance Jio plans to double its 5G user base in the region this year, and deploy AI-based tools in schools, hospitals, businesses, and homes. On the retail front, Reliance will increase sourcing of agricultural produce and set up local FMCG manufacturing units.
On the other hand, Gautam Adani-led Adani Group pledged a ₹1 lakh crore investment commitment for Assam and the broader Northeast region over the next decade. Adani said the group's investment will focus on green energy, power transmission, roads, digital infrastructure, logistics, and human capital development.
The commitment doubles the ₹50,000 crore investment announced by the Adani Group just three months ago at the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit.
Natural resources major Vedanta announced a ₹80,000 crore investment in the region, including ₹50,000 crore in Assam that it had announced earlier this year. These investments will be made in oil & gas, critical minerals, refining facilities, power, optical fibre, system integration, renewable energy, transmission sectors and data centres in six northeastern states.
The investment is expected to generate 100,000 jobs.

Bandi Sanjay inaugurates road Works worth Rs 31.12 crore in Karimnagar
Karimnagar, June 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar asserted that the Narendra Modi-led Central Government is giving top priority to road construction and infrastructure development across the country. He said that the Karimnagar Parliament constituency is witnessing significant internal road development under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme, with works worth Rs 31.12 crore currently underway. The Union Minister inaugurated a newly constructed internal road in Qazipur village of Kothapalli mandal on Saturday. The road, completed under the Employment Guarantee Scheme, was built for Rs14 lakh. He later laid the foundation stone for a market shed in Asif Nagar, Kothapalli Mandal, which is being taken up with Rs 9.50 lakh from the MP Local Area Development (MPLADS) funds. Speaking at the event, Bandi Sanjay said, 'This year alone, Rs 74 lakh has been allocated for road construction in Kothapalli Mandal. I am pleased to inaugurate this road in Ghazipur, which is part of a broader initiative to enhance rural connectivity under the employment scheme.' Highlighting the Centre's extensive efforts in road infrastructure, he informed that under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), Rs 291 crore has been spent in the Karimnagar Parliamentary segment, resulting in the construction of 1,341 km of roads. Additionally, hundreds of crores have been utilized under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to build roads in remote villages. He noted that nearly Rs 5,000 crore has been spent on National Highway works in Karimnagar Parliament. 'Highway projects between Karimnagar-Warangal and Siddipet-Elkathurthi are progressing rapidly. We are also set to begin construction of the Karimnagar-Jagityala highway very soon,' he added. Referring to the Rajiv Gandhi Highway, he said the Central Government is ready to widen it using National Highway funds. However, he pointed out that the road is currently under a state-level maintenance contract. Andhra Pradesh raises maximum working hours from 9 to 10 to boost investment
The Andhra Pradesh government, led by the TDP-NDA alliance, has increased daily working hours from nine to ten to attract investors and ease business regulations. Remove Ads The TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh has decided to raise the maximum working hours from nine to 10 per day as part of ease of doing business and attracting Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister K Parthasarathy said that it has been decided to amend labour laws to make them 'favourable' to workers and state secretary K Ramakrishna criticised the move and said NDA governments at the Centre and state are pursuing 'anti worker' policies."Relevant sections of laws which allow maximum nine hours of work a day has now been raised to 10 hours per day. Under Section 55 there used to be one hour rest for five hours (work) now that has been changed to six hours," said Parthasarathy recently, elaborating on the decisions made by the cabinet to amend labour Parthasarathy noted that overtime was allowed only up to 75 hours which now has been extended up to 144 hours per quarter."Because of this (amendments to labour laws), investors in factories will (come to our state). These labour rules will be favourable for labourers and they will come to invest more. Globalisation is happening in every state. These amendments were brought to implement global rules," said the minister observed that the cabinet has also relaxed night shift rules to enable more women to work in the night to the I&PR Minister, women were not allowed to work in the night shifts earlier but now they can work with safeguards such as consent, transport facility, security and said the workplace of women during night shifts should be fully illuminated."When you work extra, income will increase. By these rules women can work in the formal sector. They empower women economically and promote gender inclusion and industrial growth. Also contribute to women's empowerment," he K Ramakrishna, State Secretary of CPI, opposed the NDA alliance government's stand on labour laws amendments. He alleged that the Central and state governments are working against the interests of workers."For the past 11 years, the Modi government has repeatedly taken measures that infringe upon workers' rights in India," Ramakrishan told PTI on oppose these rules, he said trade unions have decided to protest on July 9 all over India, adding that all sections will participate in this protest he observed that the NDA governments both at the Centre and in the state are pursuing 'anti-worker policies'.
