Robert Eggers to direct ‘A Christmas Carol' movie for Warner Bros.; Willem Dafoe in consideration to star
Popular horror filmmaker Robert Eggers is all set to write and direct a new adaptation of Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' for Warner Bros. Interestingly, reports suggest that the director is writing the role of Ebenezer Scrooge for his frequent collaborator Willem Dafoe. If Dafoe ends up playing Scrooge, this would mark his fourth collaboration with Eggers after The Lighthouse, The Northman and Nosferatu. 'A Christmas Carol', a popular novella published in 1842, tells the story of an elderly miser, Scrooge, whose life changes forever when he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner. The story has seen several stage adaptations of the novella and many animated film adaptations. There have also been feature film adaptations from filmmakers like Henry Edwards, Brian Desmond Hurst, Ronald Neame, David Jones and Robert Zemeckis. According to Deadline, Eggers will also produce the film. Chris Columbus and Elenor Columbus are also attached to produce via Maiden Voyage. Eggers tasted monumental success with the widely acclaimed Nosferatu, which earned $156 million globally and became his highest-grossing film to date. The director will next shoot Werwulf for Focus Features before moving onto the A Christmas Carol project.

James Gunn's Superman Reboot Outpaces Fantastic Four In Early Ticket Sales
Last Updated: The overwhelming demand reflects the strong anticipation surrounding James Gunn's fresh take on the iconic Man of Steel. James Gunn's upcoming Superman film is already soaring ahead of its release, with early ticket sales breaking records. Special Amazon Prime screenings of the movie have set a new benchmark for the highest number of first-day ticket sales in 2025, surpassing all other films released so far this year. Amazon Prime members were given exclusive early access to purchase tickets starting June 10 for special previews scheduled on July 8, three days ahead of the film's official release on July 11. The overwhelming demand reflects the strong anticipation surrounding Gunn's fresh take on the iconic Man of Steel. According to reports, the film's early sales have outpaced those of other major 2025 releases, including Marvel's Fantastic Four: First Steps. According to Deadline, the upcoming superhero movie by Warner Bros and DC Studios is one of the most anticipated films of the summer. This was revealed in Fandango's 2025 Moviegoing Trends and Insight Study, where the company asked over 5000 people about their movie plans. Many fans also said they are especially excited to see Nicholas Hoult play Lex Luthor. Reportedly, Superman, featuring David Corenswet, might collect over $100 million in its first weekend at the box office. If that happens, it would be a strong start and a big win for the film even before reviews come in. Fans of Marvel and DC have been comparing Superman and Fantastic Four, as both movies are set to release during the same month. Many have been wondering which one will do better at the box office. But director James Gunn doesn't see it as a competition. He said there's enough room for both films to do well. Recently, when a fan asked about the competition on Threads, Gunn replied, 'They come out two weeks after us, there's room for us both. I love my friends at Marvel. You can find whatever discussions you'd want to find online. I'd focus on all the positivity around the films instead of getting sucked up in online fan wars." Suprman stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell.
