Mikey Moore to Rangers transfer work still to be done as Russell Martin in the thick of triple winger hunt
Rangers are hopeful of securing a season-long loan deal for Spurs hit-kid Mikey Moore.
The Ibrox club want the teenage winger, with gaffer Russell Martin and sporting director Kevin Thelwell keen to get it done.
Record Sport understands there's still work to do as they look to capture the 17-year-old, as they've yet to get a green light from Tottenham gaffer Thomas Frank to let Moore go.
The wide player - who became Spurs' youngest ever Premier League player a year ago - is rated as one of the UK's best talents.
But Rangers believe they're in pole position to land Moore on loan and strengthen Martin's squad ahead of their Scottish Premiership opener against Motherwell on Saturday.
As they prepare for Wednesday night's Champions League qualifying second-leg against Panathinaikos in Athens, the manager is looking to add to his squad.
Gers are also in the hunt for £5 million rated Finnish winger Oliver Antman, who was back training with Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles.
And they retain a concrete interest in Crystal Palace Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who is wanted by Championship clubs down south.
Martin is desperate to have strength in depth on the flanks, having already recruited Sheffield Wednesday flying machine Djeidi Gassama.

Ynysddu rugby team fundraising to play in Premiership
Theo Rushton-Marsh, who plays for Ynysddu BG Women, described her journey with the club as life-changing and is now fundraising to help cover the costs of competing at this level. She said: "I was so nervous about what our next chapter had in store for us. "But what I didn't know was that only down the road, at Ynysddu RFC, was the group of women who were going to completely change my life." The team secured an unbeaten Championship season to earn promotion to the Premiership for the 2025/26 season, and will now play in the top flight of Welsh women's rugby for the first time in the club's history. But Theo says the step up comes with major financial challenges. She said: "Competing in a women's National League means playing games with 10-hour return travel times, paying thousands per game for minibuses because we compete on Sundays, taking out private health insurance because it isn't covered by the club, increasing out-of-training fitness work because we all work full time, and purchasing league-appropriate kit, which for example would cost over £10,000 for just a 23-player team alone, and we have over 30 players registered." Theo has chosen to use her personal sponsorship appeal to raise awareness and funds for Platfform, a mental health charity working across South Wales. She said: "Platfform is a mental health charity that focuses on social change and community as driving factors for improving the wellbeing of those struggling by building authentic connection. "As a service provider, they work to keep people from homelessness, offer therapeutic alternatives to hospitals, and facilitate community projects and meetings." The fundraising has special meaning for Theo, who has spoken openly about her own mental health journey and the role rugby has played in her recovery. She said: "Throughout the years I have been playing rugby I have made multiple attempts on my life, been involuntarily committed to various in-patient stays, and was prescribed around ten medications to 'deal' with the symptoms of ill mental health that I was experiencing without truly addressing the causes. "I do not know where I would be today without rugby and my ever-changing and growing support system." Theo hopes the community will get behind her and the team as they step onto the Premiership stage. She said: "If you don't want to donate because my club is awesome and women's rugby is underfunded and expensive, and if you don't want to donate to support getting the amazing charity Platfform some free advertising, donate because I really love playing rugby with this team and I would really appreciate your support in getting myself to the Premiership through community fundraising. "I know money is tight right now and everything is just so expensive. But if you can spare anything to support me and Ynysddu BG Women – we will go and do our best to win the whole thing again." He said: 'It was a reason why I got a job at Swansea from MK Dons, for sure, developing young players, and then a big reason why I got a job at Southampton as well. 'We enjoy working with young players, enjoy playing a part in their development, and I think we can help Mikey, but most importantly he can help us win on the pitch. 'We're not here to just have other teams develop football players. We're here to win and he can help us do that. 'And if we can win when developing people and players as well, then that's the ultimate goal. 'It's a brilliant signing for the club. It'll be good for us and good for Spurs, hopefully to help his development. It'll be good for Mikey. 'So I think it's a really good move for everyone and I think he'll definitely add to us as a big option on the pitch and in the forward line. 'He can play in a few positions and he's a super-talented boy, so we're excited to have him. 'I think age is irrelevant really. If you're good enough, you're old enough and I certainly think he's good enough to impact games for us and help us win games of football. 'I'm really pleased and delighted that Spurs have allowed him to come here because a lot of people were interested in Mikey and he was desperate to come in. There has to be ambition from everyone – Brendan Rodgers sends contract message
Rodgers is entering the final season of his three-year deal and told principal shareholder Dermot Desmond and chief executive Michael Nicholson that he is not interested in performing a maintenance job. The Celtic manager reiterated he would be going nowhere of his own volition before his contract expires but his long-term future remains unclear. Asked about his contract situation ahead of Celtic's William Hill Premiership opener against St Mirren on Sunday, Rodgers said: 'Dermot and Michael and I had a conversation over the summer on where we were at. 'I said: 'I'm very happy here'. There's conditions we want to be able to improve and be better because I'm not the type of manager that's good at maintaining anything. If it's just something to maintain, I'm not the manager of Celtic. 'In terms of my situation, I'm relaxed on it only because I know what I give every single day. And if the club choose to offer (a contract) and see that as the way forward, great. If not, it doesn't really matter to me in relation to what I give to the job. 'My ambition is for Celtic. It's not for me. My ambition is for Celtic to be the best that it can be. 'I've been in the game quite a long time now. So I think I understand what we need to succeed. We did that last year. We brought in certain players that helped our profile when we moved into the Champions League. And those players really helped us in the Champions League. 'So my ambition now is to keep us going in that direction. And that's what our conversations are about.' Rodgers has stressed the need to bolster their attacking options in recent weeks. Shin Yamada arrived as a belated replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi but the sale of Nicolas Kuhn to Como has compounded a lack of wide players following the long-term knee injury Jota suffered in May. Rodgers said: 'There's no doubt I would have liked to have had players in now, but it's not the case. I'm not going to kill my own joy and overthink. I focus on what's here. We know the work that we need to do and it's my responsibility to convince the club that we really need them. 'Clearly, I'm not doing that job as well as maybe what I can, but I will continue to pursue that because it's something that's really important for us.'
