The Australian all-rounder reached his hundred in just 48 balls, finishing with 106 off 49 deliveries, including 13 sixes and two fours.
Maxwell, who came in at number six, had a slow start with just 11 runs from his first 15 balls. However, he shifted gears dramatically, launching into an explosive innings that turned the game on its head. The momentum changed in the 14th over, when Maxwell took on fellow Australian Tanveer Sangha, hitting three consecutive sixes to ignite the assault.
'Came in slightly different circumstances, needed to bat differently, started pretty slow, but once I thought we needed a few more runs, took my shots, and it came off. We just needed to bat time at that stage. I was hoping that Chapman and I could take it deep; we could maybe target the last 5-6 overs and manipulate the field. It is pretty cool,' Maxwell told broadcasters.
At 92-5 in the 12th over, Washington appeared to be heading for a subpar total. But Maxwell's blistering knock propelled the side to 208-5 in their 20 overs. He shared an unbroken 116-run partnership with Obus Pienaar, who supported with 14 off 15 balls while rotating strike to keep Maxwell on.

In addition to the match-winning performance, Maxwell crossed a major milestone by surpassing 10,500 career runs in T20 cricket. The 36-year-old also has 178 T20 wickets, underlining his all-round value in the format.
This was Maxwell's first century in Major League Cricket, and it lit up the Oakland Coliseum in California.

Matthew Tkachuk Makes Intriguing Connor McDavid Stanley Cup Prediction
Matthew Tkachuk Makes Intriguing Connor McDavid Stanley Cup Prediction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Florida Panthers left no doubt about who's best in Game 6, dispatching the Edmonton Oilers 5–1 to claim their second straight Stanley Cup. Advertisement For the second year in a row, Oilers superstar Connor McDavid's season ended at the hands of Matthew Tkachuk, forcing Edmonton's captain to wait at least one more year to break out and win the Cup once and for all. During his postgame interview, however, Tkachuk made one of the night's most interesting predictions, albeit he added an intriguing quirk to it. "When you have a player that good and that talented, (McDavid) is going to win (the Stanley Cup) one day," Tkachuk said. "Wherever it is." While predicting McDavid to eventually win a championship is far from a bold take, the fact that Tkachuk's comment included a final statement saying "wherever it is" instantly raised eyebrows. Advertisement McDavid, still just 28, has been a longtime Oiler and has only played for Edmonton through his 10-year career. The center, however, has one year remaining on his eight-year, $100-million deal with Edmonton and could test the market as soon as July 1, 2026. Forward Connor McDavid (97) has only played with Edmonton Oilers in his 10-year Frid-Imagn Images McDavid is first eligible to sign an extension as soon as July kicks off in less than two weeks, but no reports about such a deal being in place have emerged at any point. Even in defeat, McDavid led the playoffs with 33 points, tied with teammate Leon Draisaitl. But the Oilers' stars were stifled in Game 6, with McDavid in particular going pointless and finishing with a minus-4. Advertisement 'We lost to a really good team,' McDavid said after the loss. 'Nobody quit, nobody threw the towel in, but they're a heck of a team. They're back-to-back Stanley Cup champions for a reason.' Broncos special teams coach dubs rookie one of the most talented prospects he's had
Broncos special teams coach dubs rookie one of the most talented prospects he's had Broncos special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi on punter Jeremy Crawshaw: 'He's as talented of a prospect as I've ever had.' — Chris Tomasson (@christomasson) June 11, 2025 Punter hype? Punter hype! After losing Riley Dixon to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during NFL free agency, the Denver Broncos used a sixth-round draft pick to select Australian punter Jeremy Crawshaw in April. The international punter grew up playing rugby league and Australian rules football before training to kick in American football. After attending Nathan Chapman's ProKick Australia academy, Crawshaw played college football at Florida. The 24-year-old punter impressed Broncos special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi this spring. 'Probably Jeremy the person," Rizzi said on June 11 when asked what impressed him about Crawshaw. "His maturity. It's not easy to come from another country and play a sport he had never played before. Think about that. Here's a guy that came from Australia, went to an SEC school, a top-level college program, [and] had a ton of success. His maturity level, he's kind of beyond his years if you will. That was when we were kind of evaluating all the punters in this draft, his name came up. I really feel like his intangibles, his off-the-field stuff was A-plus. "Now, his talent level is tremendous as well. I really believe that at that position, at a specialist position, your demeanor might be just as important as your ability, because it's a one-play-and-done. You have to have the mentality of kind of a batter in baseball if you will, or a golfer. You have to go on to the next swing. I really like his level-headedness. I really like his maturity. I really like his approach. Getting to know him in the process was a big part of us drafting him, so that was pretty cool.' That's extremely high praise from Rizzi, a high-profile coordinator who has coached in the NFL since 2009 and has experience as an associate head coach and interim head coach. Special teams players are often overlooked by fans, but Crawshaw appears to have been a huge addition for the Broncos this offseason. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Surrey Beat Hampshire by 69 Runs in Vitality Blast Clash
Surrey Beat Hampshire by 69 Runs in Vitality Blast Clash originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Surrey secured a 69-run victory over Hampshire in their Vitality Blast South Group encounter held in Southampton on June 17, 2025. Advertisement Batting first, Surrey posted 193 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Dom Sibley anchored the innings with a composed 70 off 46 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award. Will Jacks contributed a quick 41 from 24 deliveries, helping to set up a strong total. Hampshire's Scott Currie was the most effective bowler for the home side, finishing with 2 for 36 in four overs, while Benny Howell picked up 1 for 24 from three overs. In response, Hampshire were bowled out for 124 in 17.5 overs, falling well short of the 194-run target. Lhuan-dre Pretorius top-scored with 28 from 19 balls, and Joe Weatherley added 27 off 19, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled under pressure. Nathan Smith led Surrey's bowling attack with figures of 3 for 18 in 2.5 overs, including the final wicket of John Turner, who was caught by Chris Jordan for 4. Jordan also took 2 for 17 from his full four overs. Mitchell Santner and Reece Topley each claimed two wickets as well. Advertisement "They got an above-par score. It is tricky when you are chasing a big total, and then you lose three wickets in a row at the back end of the powerplay. The new guys have to take chances, and the run rate is increasing. When it reaches beyond 12 runs an over, it becomes difficult," Adi Birrell, Hampshire head coach said. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 18, 2025, where it first appeared.
