Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro rumoured launch date
Later this month, Xiaomi is preparing to introduce the Civi 5 Pro, its next-generation Civi smartphone, in China. Although a specific date has not yet been set, May 22 is generally predicted to be the day to watch.
This phone, internally referred to as Little 15, is being marketed as the most potent Civi phone to date. Lu Weibing, the head of Xiaomi's smartphone division, even asserted that the company wants to provide a comparable experience to the standard iPhone, albeit with a lighter and thinner design.
Although it is a bold claim, the specifications do point to a significant improvement over the Civi 4 Pro from the previous year. This is all the information you require for the Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro.

As with the Civi series, design is a key component. The phone is anticipated to feel light in the hand and have a sleek appearance. It will be available in four colours: black, white, beige, and purple (the official names of the colours have not yet been disclosed).
A circular camera bump with Leica branding and a twin LED flash is located around the back. According to rumours, the configuration consists of a brilliant f/1.63 primary camera, a 15mm ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens (60mm).
It is anticipated that the front camera will have a 50-megapixel sensor for video calls and selfies.
It is anticipated that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip will power the Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro in terms of performance. A significant improvement over the previous Civi 4 Pro, the phone recently appeared on Geekbench with 16GB RAM, Android 15, and a 6,000mAh+ battery that supports 67W fast charging. According to sources, the display front will have a hole-punch cutout for the front camera and a 6.55-inch quad-curved OLED screen with 1.5K resolution.
Although an official launch date for India has not yet been announced, if Xiaomi adopts the strategy of last year, it may be renamed as the Xiaomi 15 Civi, much like the Civi 4 Pro, which debuted here as the Xiaomi 14 Civi.
Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro's expected price
In summary, the Xiaomi 14 Civi, which has Leica-tuned cameras and a small and light design, debuted in India at a starting price of Rs 42,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model and Rs 50,999 for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model. We expected something near to this amount for Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro.

Qualcomm strengthens AI portfolio with $2.4 billion Alphawave deal
U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm agreed to acquire Alphawave for about $2.4 billion on Monday, as it expands into the booming AI data center market, sending shares of the British semiconductor company surging more than 22%. Alphawave, which designs semiconductor tech for data centers, is the latest British company to be snapped up in a market plagued by low valuations and stunted growth, with U.S. buyers swooping on firms at comparatively low prices and better-performing bourses proving more attractive for share listings. It can help Qualcomm diversify into the data center market, as the biggest provider of smartphone chips looks to reduce its dependence on the industry. Qualcomm, which counts Apple and major android players such as Xiaomi among its customers, has doubled-down on catering to industries such as data centers and personal computers as the iPhone maker increasingly turns to in-house processors. 'The acquisition of Alphawave Semi aims to further accelerate and provide key assets for Qualcomm's expansion into data centers,' the company said. Alphawave shareholders will receive 183 pence per share — a near 96% premium to the March 31 closing price immediately before Qualcomm disclosed its interest. News of the deal sent the stock up more than 22%. Shares of Qualcomm rose about 4%. Qualcomm also made two alternative all-share offers for Alphawave on Monday after multiple deadline extensions from the UK takeover panel. However, Alphawave plans to unanimously recommend the cash offer to its shareholders, deeming it fair and reasonable. Jefferies analysts said they do not expect the deal to meet any material regulatory obstacles, after Alphawave exited its Chinese joint venture, WiseWave. 'Alphawave has developed leading high-speed wired connectivity and compute technologies that are complementary to our power-efficient central processing unit and neural processing unit cores,' Cristiano Amon, president and CEO of Qualcomm, said. The acquisition is expected to close during the first calendar quarter of 2026. SoftBank-owned Arm had also sought to acquire Alphawave but decided not to pursue the takeover, Reuters had reported in April citing sources.
