Spider-Man Actor Andrew Garfield on if He'll Return as the Web Slinger
Andrew Garfield recently expressed his desire to return as Spider-Man during his appearance at the Middle East Film & Comic Con event. The We Live in Time actor last reprised the role of the webslinger in the 2021 movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland. Fans have since been speculating that Garfield might appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. However, it is just a theory, and there has been no confirmation regarding this.
While speaking at the Middle East Film & Comic Con held in Abu Dhabi, actor Andrew Garfield conveyed his wish to make a comeback as Spider-Man after No Way Home.
He asserted that he 'loved playing Spider-Man' and that he 'would love to play the character again in some capacity.'
The actor also revealed the one condition on which he would portray Spider-Man again. He added, 'I think it would have to be very weird. I think I would like to do something very strange…something very unique, and offbeat and surprising…kind of like the creative freedom they have with the animated Spider-Verse movies,' referencing the multiverse and how it can be used to 'honor' the character in various ways.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day slated for a release on July 31, 2026, fans have been theorizing whether Garfield will make an appearance in the Tom Holland-led movie. However, in September 2024, Garfield shut down those rumors.
Garfield first made his debut as the Marvel superhero in Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012 and then reprised the role in its 2014 sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While fans were expecting a third part to release as well, it never got made. Alex Kurtzman, who was one of the scriptwriters for TASM 2, told ScreenRant in January 2025 that they 'never wrote it. I did 2 and that was it for me.'
Now it remains to be seen if and when Garfield returns in the Spider-Man suit.

'Sinners,' meanwhile, is still going strong in its seventh weekend with another $5.2 million, bumping it to $267.1 million domestically and $350.1 million globally. The eighth 'Mission: Impossible' movie also repeated in second place, with $27.3 million from 3,861 locations. As with 'Lilo & Stitch,' that's down 57% from its opening. With $122.6 million in domestic tickets sold, it's performing in line with the two previous installments. But with a reported production budget of $400 million, profitability is a ways off. Internationally, it added $76.1 million (including $25.2 million from China where it just opened), bringing its global total to $353.8 million. 'This is the year of longterm playability,' said Paul Dergarabedian, Comscore's senior media analyst. 'The currency of word of mouth and the strong hold is more important than opening weekend dollars.'
