Premier League royalty arrive for the PFA awards in Manchester with Mo Salah the heavy favourite and on-strike Newcastle star Alexander Isak a no-show

The stars of English football descended on Manchester's Opera House on Tuesday night to celebrate the achievements of the game's biggest names. All eyes were on Mohamed Salah 's arrival at the Professional Football Association's glitzy awards gala, as he looked to make yet more history after his stellar 2024-25 campaign. The lavish occasion provided ample opportunity for the game's stars and their stunning partners to strut their stuff in rather unfamiliar environments. Though, on the evidence of the glamorous attendees, many would not be out of place on paparazzi-swamped red carpets across the globe. Former England manager Sir Gareth Southgate made an early appearance, decked out in a classic black suit. While, new Wrexham defender Conor Coady was joined by his wife Amie, who wowed in a one-shouldered black dress with a sheer skirt. Elsewhere, Arsenal stars Gabriel, William Saliba and Declan Rice kept it simple on a night when the latter is among the nominees for the prestigious top prize. The Englishman is one of six contenders alongside heavy favourite Salah, Liverpool 's Alexis Mac Allister, Chelsea star Cole Palmer, Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes and wantaway Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, who chose to avoid the occasion as speculation over his future rumbles on. Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk went for the cleanest of looks as he made he entrance to the event Arsenal stars (L-R) Gabriel, William Saliba and Declan Rice opted for a simple approach for the ocassion Salah is looking to become the first man to win the Players' Player of the Year prize on three occasions. He currently shares the honour of being a multiple time winner with Mark Hughes, Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin De Bruyne. He arrived in a simple black suit, finished with a gold tie, a nod, perhaps, to his expectation of taking the grand prize with him back to Merseyside. Meanwhile, Arsenal's Alessia Russo and Mariona Caldentey are among the favourites for Women's PFA Player of the Year after the Gunners became two-time Women's Champions League winners. Russo, who netted 20 goals last term before helping the Lionesses clinch the European Championship, dazzled on the Opera House's red carpet in her strapless sage green gown. The Gunners made a point to show a united front at the event, with their entire delegation from the men's and women's team stopping for a moment with the cameras. More to follow.

Stacey Solomon nominated for TWO National Television Awards following her infamous BAFTAs tantrum after being 'robbed' from gong

Stacey Solomon has been nominated two National Television Awards this year after her rant following her bruising defeat at the BAFTAs in May. The presenter, 35, had been up for an gong for her BBC show Sort Your Life Out in the Factual Entertainment category ahead of the ceremony. Meanwhile, Stacey is also nominated in the Factual Entertainment category for her fly-on-the-wall reality show with husband Joe Swash. It's not an easy show to make, Sort Your Life Out and the team work so hard to make it happen and they so deserve the BAFTA. 'The Sort Your Life Out team deserved a BAFTA and I'm devastated. I'm not saying that everyone else didn't deserve their BAFTAs, they absolutely did. 'People think making TV is really easy and it's not, so everyone deserves recognition. But I'm just gutted for my whole Sort Your Life Out family because I feel like they deserved a BAFTA. I'm gonna say it - I'm gutted!' The series, which aired earlier this year year, gave an insight into the couple's relationship as they navigated a rocky patch in their marriage by seeking therapy Her post-awards rant didn't go down well with her fan base at the time, as some accused the star of having 'sour grapes'. They shared online: 'Sounds like sour grapes to me. This is such a boring show, only watched one and all the rest were the same . Should be happy to have a nomination, not sure why it was!' 'Why would she think that she deserves a BAFTA?'; 'There's no justice when someone can't get a bafta for cleaning cupboards out ffs.' 'A strange mix of admirable honesty and complete entitlement.'; 'Get over yourself love. Not everyone wins - there's a lesson there for you.' Voting is open now ahead of the star-studded ceremony on Wednesday, September 10, which will be screened live on ITV1. Mariah Carey reveals what she really thinks about the Grammys after being snubbed for years

has blasted the Grammys after being snubbed out of nominations for years. The 56-year-old singer has won only five Grammy Awards during the course of her successful career thus far - with her last nomination occurring 16 years earlier. The Always Be My Baby hitmaker appeared on Pitchfork's Over/Under YouTube series where celebrities weigh in on pop culture symbols including Labubus, Crocs, and Christmas. When the topic of the biggest award show in music came up, Mariah pulled no punches as she said: 'Ha, I think the Grammys are overrated.' Mariah went on to clarify that she meant that both the award show and the award itself were overrated. She didn't fully turn into her bitterness as she added: 'But we love everybody.' Last October, the Fantasy songstress opened up about the topic during the latest episode of the Las Culturistas podcast. At one point, hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers expressed that she doesn't 'have enough' Grammy wins, per Entertainment Weekly. Carey agreed and said in response, 'They scaaaaammed me. They toy with me.' Mariah has garnered a whopping 34 Grammy nominations - with her first win taking place in 1991 for Best New Artist and Best Pop Female Vocal Performance for Vision Of Love. In 2006, her album Emancipation Of Mimi won the Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album. The same year, she also won Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for the track, We Belong Together. Her last Grammy nomination was in 2009 for Best Gospel Performance for the song titled, I Understood, which also featured Kim Burrell, Rance Allen and Bebe Winans. Mariah has sold around 220 million records across the globe, and notably landed the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart 19 times as a solo artist. She has garnered a list of other accolades over the years, such as winning 10 American Music Awards and 20 Billboard Music Awards. Aside from the Las Culturistas podcast, Carey has previously let her feelings be known about her few Grammy wins. In February 2024, the star was honored with the Recording Academy's Global Impact Award at the 2024 Black Music Collective event. Upon taking to the stage, she seemingly threw shade at the Grammys, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 'Is this a real Grammy? I haven't seen one in soooooo long,' Mariah humorously said to the crowd. 'It's weird. I don't know. We'll figure out what this is later.'
