Galaxy Z Fold 7 renders leak, and here's our first look at the Silver Shadow model

Samsung will launch a variety of new products at its Unpacked event on July 9, and we've already seen leaked Galaxy Z Fold 7 renders. However, one of the most trusted sources has now given us a comprehensive look at this new foldable phone.
Veteran leaker Evan Blass published Galaxy Z Fold 7 renders via his Substack newsletter, revealing three colors on offer. These color options are Jet Black, Silver Shadow, and Blue Shadow. This might be our first look at the Silver Shadow model, as recently leaked renders showed the Jet Black and Blue Shadow options. Check out all the new renders below.
These colors line up with an official staging site we discovered yesterday. The site also listed Green Mint as an online-exclusive color, although Blass hasn't posted renders with this shade.
In any event, the renders give us a good look at the Galaxy Z Fold 7 from various angles, including the cover display and rear cover. We also get a look at the folded device, albeit from the hinge side. This hints at a much thinner form factor. These images also corroborate previous renders which showed that Samsung is getting rid of the under-display selfie camera on the folding screen.
Nevertheless, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to launch with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 200MP primary camera, and larger screens. However, it sounds like the new foldable will offer the same 4,400mAh battery and 25W wired charging speed as the last four generations of Z Fold models.

Although it's around 12 weeks until the next iPhones go on sale (read exactly when they will launch here), there have been numerous reports and leaks. The latest comes from a regular leaker, and aims to show exactly what the iPhone 17 Pro will look like in black. Will the iPhone 17 Pro look like this, the iPhone 16 Pro? Of course, it's not yet known exactly what colors the next iPhones will come in, or what they'll be called, but it's highly likely that there will be a new black color this time around (which will be similar, perhaps, to the current titanium black found on the iPhone 16 Pro. The leak comes from serial tipster Majin Bu who has a strong, though not perfect, track record. Their latest post on X reads, 'iPhone 17 Pro Black, absolutely beautiful,' and the caption shows two images of what it will look like, it's claimed. It's a persuasive replica, with lots of detail and convincing materials. But the reason it's interesting is that it shows the new camera panel design in a way that many will find attractive. Previously, I've been skeptical about how the predicted wider camera panel will work in practice. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman revealed that the panel would not be black on all models, that it would match the color of the iPhone. So, it's not yet clear what models in other colors will look like, but the images here show a panel which seems in keeping with the handset, and even makes the three camera lenses look less dominant than they do on the iPhone 16 Pro. In the dummy, the panel looks as though it rises out of the phone more deeply than before, perhaps to create a greater distance between the lens and the sensor beneath. The lenses are still raised on top of the panel. This is the iPhone 17 Pro, and it's the Pro Max model which is rumored to be the thickest iPhone Pro yet, so this looks, well, not super-thin, but not chunky. Of course, however carefully researched a phone dummy is, it can only take us part way to understanding what the real thing will look like. But these images make the iPhone 17 Pro look better than some had been expecting.

The world's lightest Fold is here, and it claims to work with your Apple Watch too
TL;DR Vivo has launched the X Fold 5 foldable phone in China. This is the world's lightest book-style foldable phone, but it still has a 6,000mAh battery and IP5X/IPX8/IPX9 ratings. The vivo X Fold 5 starts at ~$976 in China. Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 next month, but several rival manufacturers are waiting in the wings already. Now, vivo has launched the X Fold 5 foldable phone in China today. The X Fold 5 is a follow-up to last year's X Fold 3, which, at 219 grams, was the world's lightest book-style foldable phone. However, the X Fold 5 just about steals this crown by weighing in at 217 grams. The phone is a relatively svelte 9.2mm thick when folded. That means the OPPO Find N5 is still the thinnest book-style foldable on the market. However, vivo's new device also brings IP5X dust resistance, IPX8 water resistance, and an IPX9 rating for resistance to high-pressure water jets and hot water. This might be the first foldable phone to offer both dust- and water-resistance in the same package. By contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has an IP48 rating, which means it can survive a dunk in water but isn't rated to withstand dust. vivo Despite the lightweight design, the vivo X Fold 5 packs a 6,000mAh battery into its frame. Vivo claims this is the first foldable phone with a 6,000mAh battery, putting it on par with conventional phones like the OnePlus 13 and vivo X200 Pro. Once you've run out of juice, you can use 80W wired or 40W wireless charging. The phone also has an 8.03-inch OLED folding screen (2,480 x 2,200, LTPO), a 6.53-inch OLED cover screen (2,748 × 1,172, LTPO), and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. Other notable hardware specs include a side fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7, and an IR blaster. That chip isn't the latest and greatest Snapdragon silicon, but it should still be more than enough for demanding tasks. As for camera hardware, the new foldable phone offers a triple rear camera setup. This consists of a 50MP main camera (IMX921), a 50MP ultrawide lens (1/2.76-inch), and a 50MP 3x camera (IMX882, macro support). A 20MP camera is also found on each screen for selfies and video chats. The X Fold 5 runs Origin OS 15 based on Android 15. This software includes a rather cool multitasking system with up to five apps running at once. One main app covers most of the screen while four smaller app windows appear above the main app window. However, vivo also offers groundbreaking integration with Apple devices. For starters, the company says it's the first Android phone that can connect to the Apple Watch, supporting phone calls, texts, notification mirroring, synchronization of health/fitness data, and more. However, there are a couple of caveats to this integration. Your Apple Watch needs to be paired with an iPhone first. Furthermore, vivo says this functionality will come via a system update. The X Fold 5 also supports 'seamless' connectivity with Apple's AirPods and deep integration with Macs (such as using the foldable as an extended screen). The device can also pair with your iPhone, so all your calls, texts, and notifications from your iPhone are accessible via the foldable. Almost all of these features will likely require an app download. The company currently requires Mac users to download the vivo Office Kit app for Mac integration on existing OriginOS phones. Nevertheless, vivo was first to offer Mac integration on Android, so we're keen to see how this expanded Apple integration pans out. The vivo X Fold 5 seems to be a China-only release right now. Expect to pay 6,999 yuan (~$976) for the 12GB/256GB model, all the way to 9,499 yuan (~$1,325) for the 16GB/1TB model. In any event, rumors point to the phone launching in India. Samsung Galaxy's digital key now works with Mercedes-Benz. The Samsung Wallet now supports digital key compatibility with Mercedes-Benz models starting July 2025, the company said. Samsung phones can already be used to unlock and start a variety of automotive brands, including Audi, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Ram, and Polestar vehicles. Samsung has also been working with smart lock manufacturers to enable its phones to be used to lock and unlock homes and residencies.
