Nick Sirianni: We have to be even better at tush push now
The Eagles will still be able to run the tush push this year, but head coach Nick Sirianni said on Tuesday that they will have to raise the level of their execution. A Packers proposal to ban the play failed to get enough votes from team owners to pass and Sirianni was asked about his reaction to the vote as well as the fact that the Cardinals and Colts — both teams are coached by former Eagles coordinators — voted in favor of the ban. Sirianni declined to say anything about how the vote played out, but pivoted to say that all the attention paid to the play means the Eagles will have to put more work in to make sure it remains a winning call for them. 'Excited about being able to continue to grow that play,' Sirianni said, via a transcript from the team. 'We have a lot of work to do to continue that success. It just doesn't happen. The same work that we needed to put into it last year, we'll even have to be better because we know teams are going to focus on it to try to stop it and we'll even have to be better at how we coach it and how we perform it and how we execute. So that's really try not to focus too much on things that I can't control and only focus on the things that you can. That's our process right now to think about the ways that we're going to get to get better at running that play and the compliments that come off of it.' Teams trying to knock off the Super Bowl champs will be working to come up with effective counters to the play as well and it will be interesting to see what tweaks both sides make once action gets underway in the fall.

Arizona Cardinals with 5 players taking it easy during mandatory minicamp
Arizona Cardinals with 5 players taking it easy during mandatory minicamp The Cardinals began mandatory minicamp with 100% attendance, but a few players will not have a full workload. The Arizona Cardinals began mandatory minicamp on Tuesday with 100% attendance, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Tuesday before practice. This makes sense, as it is mandatory and no one on the team is known to have any contract issues. However, a few players would not be getting a full workload. Gannon said the team is going to "take it easy" and "be smart" with a handful of players. Who are the players? Gannon mentioned: OLB Josh Sweat DL Justin Jones DL Dalvin Tomlinson WR Zay Jones CB Will Johnson He also said "a couple of other guys," which could include guys like linebacker BJ Ojulari, who missed all last season with an ACL tear, and tackle Jonah Williams, who played in only six games last year dealing with a knee injury that sidelined him twice. Sweat and Tomlinson are offseason additions in free agency. It would appear, based on their lack of participation in the open parts of voluntary OTAs the last two weeks, that they are dealing with minor injuries. Sweat, though, was seen getting some work in on the field during the open part of Tuesday's practice. Justin Jones is coming off a torn triceps that ended his season last year after only three games. He did participate some in OTAs. Zay Jones must be dealing with a minor injury, as he was in photos participating in practices in OTAs. Johnson, the Cardinals, second-round draft pick, has not signed his rookie contract yet and has dealt with some injuries. He had a foot injury that caused him to miss time last season at Michigan and he had a hamstring injury that limited his pre-draft work. Arizona Cardinals sign 1st-round pick Walter Nolen to rookie contract
Arizona Cardinals sign 1st-round pick Walter Nolen to rookie contract Nolen gets a four-year deal with a fifth-year team option worth $19.3 million, fully guaranteed. The Arizona Cardinals, on the first day of mandatory minicamp, signed their 2025 first-round draft pick. They announced Tuesday that defensive lineman Walter Nolen III signed his rookie contract, a four-year deal with a fifth-year team option. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $19.3 million with a $10.7 million signing bonus. Contracts for first-round picks are fully guaranteed. With Nolen under contract, the Cardinals have signed all but one of their seven draft picks. The only one left unsigned is cornerback Will Johnson, their second-round pick. Second-round picks are trickier to sign because they often get guaranteed salaries but have to negotiate how much of the deal is guaranteed. First-round contracts are fully guaranteed. Players drafted in the third round and beyond don't typically get any guaranteed salary. Nolen was drafted 16th overall by the Cardinals out of Ole Miss.
