Telangana Distributes 5.61 Lakh New Ration Cards to Expand Food Security
The Chief Minister said that 26 lakh families were recently allowed to apply for new ration cards. With this move, the total number of families holding ration cards in Telangana has grown from 2.8 crore to 3.1 crore. These cards help eligible families get subsidized rice, grains, and other essentials through fair price shops across the state.
Officials said the distribution process will be transparent and fair, and that the government wants to make sure no deserving family is left out. People who receive these new ration cards will get access to better-quality rice and more consistent support under the updated food security program. The government is also working to improve the delivery system and reduce waste.

Next Vice President? Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Picks THIS OBC Leader From BJP
HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday accused the BJP of stalling 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) by using Muslim community as an excuse. He alleged that the leaders of saffron party were playing politics of sentiment by stating that they would back 42 percent quota for BCs if Muslims are removed from the list of BCs. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, he clarified that Muslims are being extended the benefits of reservation on the basis of their backwardness. He dared BJP to scrap reservation for Muslims in the states ruled by it or its allies. He asked why the BJP was not scrapping Muslim quota in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that BJP is adopting double standards on the issue of Muslim reservation and trying to derive political mileage by whipping up passions. 'You can't have one justice for Telangana and another justice for other states,' he remarked. He warned that if BJP oppose Backward Class reservation, the party will be wiped out from Telangana. Revanth Reddy along with some state ministers and Congress leaders arrived in the national capital to mobilise support of various parties for including two state laws for 42 per cent Backward Class reservation in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution. The Chief Minister recalled that the state legislature passed two Bills for 42 per cent quota for BCs in education, employment and public life and sent the same to the Centre for including in the 9th Schedule. Revanth Reddy also pointed out that the local body elections have to be conducted in the state by September as per the direction of the High Court. 'If 42 percent seats in local bodies are to be reserved for the BCs, the Centre will have to give its approval,' he said. The Chief Minister said there was no justification in the argument that total reservations should not cross 50 per cent. He claimed that the Centre crossed this limit long back with 10 per cent reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The Chief Minister also demanded that a leader from Telangana should be made the Vice-President of India. Revanth Reddy said Bandaru Dattatreya, whose tenure as Haryana Governor has just ended, should be made Vice-President. He alleged that since Dattatreya is an OBC leader he was sidelined to make G. Kishan Reddy the union minister. He said similarly Bandi Sanjay was removed as state BJP president and a Brahmin was recently appointed as the state BJP chief.

FGG for V&E probe into ‘misuse' of special development funds
The Forum for Good Governance (FGG) has urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to order a Vigilance & Enforcement (V&E) inquiry into the alleged misuse of Special Development Funds (SDF) released for taking up developmental works in Assembly constituencies. FGG president M. Padmanabha Reddy said that the government sanctioned ₹1,190 crore at ₹10 crore for each Assembly constituency in 2023-24. The amount was released to District Collectors for taking up developmental works with the approval of the District In-Charge Minister. The SDF funds were meant to be spent on education infrastructure (₹2 crore), drinking water (₹1 crore), maintenance of collectorates or government offices (₹50 lakh) and balance ₹6.5 crore for other developmental works. However, the fund was not being implemented as per the guidelines leading to misuse and wastage of taxpayers' money. Citing examples in a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, he said that Devarakonda MLA proposed an amount of ₹1.14 crore for his office-cum-residence when there was no provision for renovation of MLA's residence. 'It is not clear how the district in-charge Minister approved such works. There are many similar cases in other districts also,' Mr. Padmanabha Reddy said. He said that tenders ought to be called for works more than ₹5 lakh in line with the rules, but executing agencies were splitting the works into bits of ₹5 lakh each and allotting them on nomination basis. The Congress Assembly constituency in-charges were proposing works bypassing the MLAs and the district in-charge Minister was sanctioning them. For instance, the sitting MLA was ignored in the Karimnagar Assembly constituency and proposals were received from the Congress in-charge, which were subsequently approved. There were many villages in Karimnagar Assembly constituency where infrastructure for schools and drainage facility were required, but sanction was made for 50 high mast lights in villages at a cost of ₹60 lakh and open gym in 25 villages at a cost of ₹1.25 crore. 'No tenders were invited and works were allotted on a nomination basis,' he lamented. In view of these, he wanted the government to order an inquiry and authorise the Collector to approve the works.

CM wants leader from Telangana to be made Vice President
Terming the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as unfortunate, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked the BJP-led Central government to nominate a leader from Telangana to the coveted post. He favoured nomination of senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya for the post claiming that the BJP could undo part of injustice it had done to the backward classes communities by nominating him to the coveted post. 'Telugu is the most spoken language after Hindi and there should be representation from Telangana at the national level in the form of Vice President,' he said. He however clarified that a decision on the choice of Vice President would be taken by the All India Congress Committee and asserted that he would request the Congress leadership if need be in this regard. He alleged that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government was scuttling opportunities of the OBCs as could be seen from the removal of Bandi Sanjay from the BJP State president post and Mr. Bandaru Dattareya who relinquished his post as Haryana Governor. 'Venkaiah Naidu, the Telugu face tipped to be the President, was sent back. The NDA government should do justice to backward classes by nominating Mr. Dattatreya to the Vice President's post,' he said. Replying to a query, he said the country was in danger as long as the BJP-led government was in power and it would continue to be so till the BJP was removed from power.
