Former MSU LB, Notre Dame coach gives perfect 'football guy' media session quote

It's clear that former Michigan State star linebacker Max Bullough is the same fired up, standard "football guy" as he was during his playing days
A former Michigan State star linebacker turned some heads on Monday during a preseason fall camp media session.
Former Spartans star defender Max Bullough appears to be that same football-loving, stereotypical, tough "football guy" that we saw on the field during his playing days. Bullough now coaches linebackers at Notre Dame, and on Monday, he gave an inspired sound bite on preseason fall camp.
Check out the clip of Bullough speaking to the media in the post below -- courtesy of Tyler Horka of BlueandGold.com:
Bullough was a fan favorite and star for the Spartans during some of hall of fame coach Mark Dantonio's teams. He was a team captain and starred for the Spartans during the 2013 Big Ten championship team that reached the program's first Rose Bowl in nearly 30 years.
Bullough has quickly worked his way up the coaching ranks and it seems like he could very soon be a defensive coordinator and maybe one day a head coach. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him brought back to Michigan State at some point, especially, if he can bring back some of that Spartan Dawg defensive magic that we saw during his playing days.

ESPN analyst believes Notre Dame will have more wins than No. 1 ranked Texas

Ready to get roasted for this! One wager for EVERY TOP 25 CFB Team!My Longhorns outta the Before the season, there are plenty of hot takes, and for Notre Dame football, there was one that we all hope is correct from ESPN's Pamela Maldonado. She made the proclamation that the Irish would have more wins this year US LBM Coaches Poll's No. 1 team, the Texas Longhorns. Maldonado broke it down by saying that 'Notre Dame knows exactly who they are, Texas enters the season trying to figure it out.' While she is focusing on the betting aspect of the two team's win totals, Maldonado sees the Irish having 'identity, structure, stability, and Notre Dame has it all.' She goes on to say that the Irish's defense should continue to be elite, as they return 11 players on the defensive line who have extensive experience. Maldonado says the unit has 'depth, experience and they will come in waves. They have a system that already works. Plug and play type of guys who know the scheme, and a coach who knows how to win ugly.' It's hard to see where she is wrong in her assessment, as the Irish have tons of talent defensively, which should give the offense plenty of time to catch up during the regular season. The Longhorns, like the Irish, are breaking in a new quarterback, and have a tough first game on the road against a top-10 opponent. Texas does have more currently scheduled top-25 games, and while Maldonado didn't mention this aspect, it surely played a part into her statement. While the Irish do have some questions entering the season, its great to see that Maldonado believes they'll have a better record at the end of the season that the current preseason top team in college football. John Mateer, Oklahoma release statements on sports gambling rumors

Late Monday evening, screenshots of a Venmo account surfaced that suggested Oklahoma Sooners quarterback John Mateer had allegedly engaged in sports gambling. Tuesday morning, Pete Thamel of ESPN reported that the University of Oklahoma was aware of the rumors but Mateer "consistently denied" the rumors. The Venmo account in question appears to belong to Mateer, as transactions went to former Washington State teammates, offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, and a family member, according to The Oklahoman. Mateer released a statement via social media denying that the transactions were involved in sports gambling. "The allegations that I once participated in sports gambling are false," Mateer shared via X, formerly known as Twitter. "My previous Venmo descriptions did not accurately portray the transactions in question but were instead inside jokes between me and my friends. I have never bet on sports. I understand the seriousness of the matter, but recognize that, taken out of context, these Venmo descriptions suggest otherwise. I can assure my teammates, coaches, and officials at the NCAA that I have not engaged in sports gambling." The University of Oklahoma released the following statement. "OU Athletics provides ongoing education to its student-athletes, coaches, and staff on matters related to sports gambling," the statement read. "The department utilizes ProhiBet, which is an industry-standard service offering comprehensive monitoring of sports gambling activities. OU takes any allegations of gambling seriously and works closely with the NCAA in any situations of concern. OU Athletics is unaware of any NCAA investigation and has no reason to believe there is one pending." Though there isn't an NCAA investigation into the matter at the moment, that doesn't mean that the NCAA couldn't or won't look into the transactions made by Mateer in his Venmo account. However, at the moment, it appears OU is satisfied with Mateer's explanation of the matter.
