Actress Ruby Lin makes a trip to Singapore, with fellow celeb Vivian Hsu playing tour guide
SINGAPORE - Despite her celebrity status, Taiwanese actress Ruby Lin has shown she is not shy to strike the classic Merlion pose that is so beloved by tourists when she is in town.
In her June 7 Instagram post, the 49-year-old star and her close friend, Singapore-based Taiwanese actress Vivian Hsu, are seen taking a stroll near Marina Bay Sands.
Wearing a white top and denim bottoms, Lin tilts her head backwards and angles herself so that it looks like the stream of water spouting from the iconic sculpture is going into her open mouth.
Other photos capture the pair posing on a bench outside the ArtScience Museum, with Hsu, 50, wrapping her arms around Lin.
In her caption, Lin joked that it was only under her 'tour guide, companion-cum-photographer and dear sister' Hsu's recommendation that she took such 'tourist photos', adding that as long as she is not embarrassed, the embarrassment will only be felt by others.
Hsu, who divorced Singapore-based businessman Sean Lee in 2023, has a nine-year-old son. She revealed in November 2024 that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the beginning of that year, and had undergone surgery to treat the condition.
Lin tied the knot with Taiwanese actor Wallace Huo in 2016, before giving birth to their daughter in 2017.

Brooks Nader Suffers Major Wardrobe Malfunction While Lounging on Yacht in Italy but Handles Situation with Grace
Brooks Nader suffered a major wardrobe malfunction on a yacht in Italy that left her breasts accidentally exposed. The influencer took to Instagram Stories share photos from a high-profile yacht trip, and in one particular photo, she wore a fitted white dress without a bra while reclining on the boat. However, as she reached for her cowboy hat while laughing, the neckline of her dress slid down. To avoid a full mishap, the model covered her boobs with two star emojis before sharing the photo with millions of her fans. She completed her look with bold gold jewelry, aviator shades, and a radiant smile as she lounged on the yacht. Lounging on the Yacht Brooks Nader accidentally exposed her breasts while lounging on a yacht in Italy Instagram On Wednesday, Nader, 28, posted photos of herself wearing only thong bottoms while climbing on an inflatable wall attached to the boat. By Saturday, she switched things up in a sleek blue corset dress by Italian designer Ermanno Scervino, pairing it with a sparkly cowboy hat as she joyfully spent time with her sisters Grace Ann, Mary Holland, and Sarah Jane Nader. The blonde bombshell — who turned heads at Wednesday's ESPYs in a daring, plunging Saint Laurent gown — had earlier been applauded for gracefully handling a wardrobe mishap at Wimbledon in July. Brooks Nader suffered an embarassing wardrobe malfunction while vacationing in Italy Instagram When the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model unexpectedly got her period during the match, she destigmatized the moment by highlighting the red stain on her white skirt in a TikTok video. "Tries to be chic," she captioned the clip. "Starts at Wimbledon." In the post, she showed off her outfit for the prestigious tennis event — a stylish polka-dot top paired with a classic white zippered midi skirt — before turning around to reveal the red spot as her shocked friends reacted in the background. "Of course #wimbledon," she captioned the video. Handling It in Style Supporters praised Nader for the honest way she dealt with the wardrobe slip, flooding the comments section with messages of appreciation. 'I started out in Taiwan': Stefanie Sun makes emotional concert return
Singapore pop diva Stefanie Sun made an emotional return to the Taiwan stage on Aug 16. It was where she made her debut 25 years ago and a place filled with memories for her. Her two sold-out concerts at Kaohsiung Arena were part of her Aut Nihilo tour, her first headline gigs on the island in 11 years. On the first night, the 47-year-old made several references to her time in Taiwan, tearing up twice as she walked down memory lane. As she started on the opening lines of The Moment, she suddenly stopped to wipe away her tears and let the fans take over the singing for a while. The song was from her 2003 compilation album of the same name. It was released shortly before she made the difficult decision to take a one-year break from the music industry, even as she was enjoying immense success. Sun was overcome with emotion once more in a segment where she acknowledged some of her old industry partners who had been with her at the start of her career. "I started out in Taiwan. Many of my old colleagues and friends who share these deep connections with me are here today," she said onstage, choking back tears. "I've never said this before. Thank you for walking this journey with me, I miss those days dearly." Here are some other highlights from a show that evoked strong feelings of nostalgia, both for her and her fans. 1. Reason for Kaohsiung venue Many fans had hoped that Sun would mark her Taiwan comeback by performing in the capital Taipei, where she used to be based. But as The Straits Times previously reported, the Taipei Arena venue has been in such high demand that her team's bid for a spot was unsuccessful. Still, Sun made the most of her debut in Kaohsiung Arena, and spoke of how the southern Taiwanese city was also of personal significance. "It's here that I won the Golden Melody Award for Best Newcomer, and the Golden Melody Award for Best Female Singer," she said. "We met many times back then, although now we may be a little older." 2. Taiwanese celeb friends Some of Sun's Taiwanese celebrity friends showed up - in voice messages, at least. Pop star Jolin Tsai and singer-songwriter Wu Ching-feng shared fond memories of their long-time friendships with Sun in audio recordings. "In my eyes, Stefanie Sun is someone who dares to be herself and is very straightforward," Tsai said. She added that she often spent time with Sun in Singapore when she flew to the Lion City for her own recording sessions. "Her smile is so powerful and instantly draws anyone in. I find her very approachable." Wu let on that Sun, on top of being kind and genuine, has a surprising "hip-hop soul" in her. "One time when I was singing karaoke with Stefanie Sun, a hip-hop song suddenly came on. I was still wondering who had requested it when she suddenly started rapping wildly," he said. 3. Bonus KTV song Like Sun's comeback shows held earlier in Singapore, the Kaohsiung concert featured a mock karaoke session where audience members were given the chance to request two songs from a list. However, Sun decided to sing a third track as a bonus. The same song - Sculpted Eyebrow - was requested twice earlier but had failed to be picked as it did not get the loudest cheers from the crowd. "This is a gift for you," she said, before leading the audience on a mass sing-along of the song. The gift was well appreciated.

Why we still love them 50 years on In a time of pop music made by computers and viral TikTok songs, Air Supply is like a handwritten love letter: A little dramatic but very much valued. Their lyrics are refreshingly real; they sometimes border on the over-the-top, but they're always presented with an honesty that still hits home. Besides, an Air Supply song is a must-have on any Spotify mix called 'Sad & Moody.' If you're still 'lost in love,' you're not alone Whether you're a long-time fan or a curious Gen Z-er who's wondering what your parents cried to in the '80s, this concert promises to be a masterclass in the art of the power ballad. Because when it comes to an Air Supply concert, the only requirement is a heart that still remembers how to feel things deeply — even if it's just for two hours on a Sunday night.
