Rahm edges Niemann for LIV season title as Munoz wins at Indy
Spain's Jon Rahm captured his second consecutive LIV Golf season crown on Sunday, shooting an 11-under par 60 before losing a playoff to Colombia's Sebastian Munoz at LIV Golf Indianapolis. Munoz birdied the first playoff hole to beat Rahm for the Indy title after both finished on 22-under 191 through all 54 holes at Chatham Hills in the Saudi-backed series' last individual event of the year. "First time I've ever beat him, so really proud of that and happy I got to go home with the trophy," Munoz said. But Rahm's result, a second playoff loss in as many weeks, was enough to edge Chile's Joaquin Niemann in the season points chase for the second year in a row, delivering heartbreak on the campaign's last day as he did in 2024. "Still slightly bittersweet," Rahm said. "I know I'm supposed to be happy. It's a great moment. But it just doesn't feel great to finish the year losing two playoffs. "I'm sure over time I'll get over that and I really appreciate what I've done this year." Rahm won the season title without winning any LIV event while Niemann took titles this year in Adelaide, Singapore, Mexico City, Virginia and Britain. "It sucks," Niemann said. "I started playing my best golf on the back nine, which I'm proud of, but at the end of the day, the putts didn't drop, and it wasn't enough. It's kind of hard to swallow." Rahm, a Masters and US Open champion, wasn't overjoyed about a season crown without a win all year. "To be able to win the season without actually winning a tournament, I know eventually I'll be proud of that. Right now it's slightly more something I'm going to suffer over a little bit more, and it may never be replicated," Rahm said. "You need a lot of coincidences to go on exactly with the year Joaquín had. He's won five times. He has played incredible golf. One could argue he was probably the more deserving guy to win this. But we have the points system we have and somehow, I don't know how, I managed to pull through and get it done." Rahm captured $18 million for claiming the season crown with Niemann taking $8 million for his runner-up season finish after sharing fourth at Indy on 196 with a closing 66. Munoz, who battled two-time major winner Dustin Johnson for the lead most of the day, birdied the 17th and 18th holes in regulation and the 18th again in the playoff to win his first title since the 2019 PGA Tour Sanderson Farms Championship. "We came today to try and take care of business," Munoz said. "Of course Jon shot 10-under so you go from one legend to another one. It was pretty cool. Awesome experience. Making birdie two times in a row (at 18), it's undescribable." Munoz battled for the victory after firing a 59 on Friday, only the third sub-60 round in LIV history. "I feel really proud of myself," he said. "It has been a long time coming, six years since my last win, and it's awesome right now." A severe overnight storm toppled trees and swamped fairways, delaying the shotgun start by 55 minutes, with players using lift, clean and place rules on the rain-softened course. - Englishmen avoid drop - England's Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter avoided being dumped from LIV for 2026, finishing in the season's top 48 in points to escape the relegation zone. Westwood birdied four of his first five holes while Poulter birdied four of his last five to avoid the drop, each finishing on 201. Sweden's Henrik Stenson was dropped, however, after missing a birdie putt at the 18th that would have seen him avoid relegation at Poulter's expense. Niemann's Torque won the Indy team title, it's first triumph since 2023, but Rahm's Legion XIII holds the top seeding for next week's LIV Team Championship. js/bb

Burns -10 Scottie Scheffler wins the 2025 BMW Championship Scottie Scheffler has done it again. He erased a four-shot deficit to start the day and won by two after turning in a round of 3-under 67. It's the fifth PGA Tour win of the season for the World No. 1 and the 17th of his career. MacIntyre ended up signing for 3-over 73 in a round that saw him make just one birdie. Read a full recap of Sunday's wild final round at the BMW Championship from Golfweek's Adam Schupak. Scottie Scheffler chips in for birdie on 71st hole to go back up by two Do you expect anything else from the best player on the planet? Scheffler leads by two as he and MacIntyre head to the 18th tee. Harry Hall makes pitch shot for birdie to boost his FedEx Cup status Harry Hall wants a tee time next week. The Englishman hit this gorgeous pitch shot from behind the green on the par-4 17th at Caves Valley to make birdie and nearly solidify his spot in the Tour Championship. Robert MacIntyre makes birdie to cut Scottie Scheffler's lead back to 1 Bobby Mac ain't dead yet. The 29-year-old from Scotland went over the green with his second shot on the par-5 16th but managed to get up-and-down for birdie to get to 13 under as of 5:30 p.m. ET. Scheffler, meanwhile, made par to stay at 14 under, one shot ahead of MacIntyre with two holes to go. The drama is building at Caves Valley. Scottie Scheffler leads by two with three to play The final group is coming down the home stretch and Scottie Scheffler still leads by two as of 5:15 p.m. ET. That lead was cut to one for a brief moment when Scheffler made two bogeys in three holes on Nos. 12 and 14, but he bounced back with a birdie from the fairway bunker on No. 15. Robert MacIntyre, meanwhile, is still birdie-less in the final round after missing another great look on the 15th. Robert MacIntyre's struggles continue at the BMW Championship In stark contrast to his first three rounds, Robert MacIntyre cannot get anything in the final round. As of 4:45 p.m. ET, a bogey on the par-3 14th has put him at four over through 13 holes on the day and dropped him back to 12 under for the tournament, two shots behind leader Scottie Scheffler and one shot clear of Sam Burns, who's in solo third. It's not over yet, but it's been nothing short of an utter disaster for Bobby Mac so far Sunday at Caves Valley. Scottie Scheffler extends his lead to two shots Another birdie at the par-4 11th has Scottie Scheffler in full control as the final group heads down the stretch. Scheffler is 3 under for the day and 15 under for the tournament, two shots clear of Robert MacIntyre as of 4:15 p.m. ET. MacIntyre is on the wrong side foo a six-shot swing Sunday after entering the round with a four-stroke lead. Sam Burns charging up the leaderboard Sam Burns is 4 under through 11 holes on the day and has moved to 12 under for the tournament, just two shots off the lead with seven holes to play as of 4 p.m. ET. Burns started the day eight shots behind Robert MacIntyre but now suddenly finds himself firmly in contention as he seeks his sixth career victory on the PGA Tour. Scottie Scheffler takes the solo lead at the BMW Championship Six holes is all Scottie Scheffler needed to erase a four-shot deficit he faced to start the day. He made yet another birdie with another perfect approach shot into the par-4 7th, while MacIntyre was left scrambling for par after he missed the green. Scheffler is 2 under for the day and has moved to 14 under for the tournament, one shot ahead of MacIntyre, who's 3 over through seven holes. The World No. 1 is inevitable. Scottie Scheffler and Robert MacIntyre tied for lead after five holes It took just five holes for Robert MacIntyre's four-shot lead to disappear. Just like first hole, it was a two-shot swing at the par-4 5th. Scottie Scheffler hit a beautiful approach and sunk a 12-foot putt for birdie, while MacIntyre missed the green with his second shot, forcing him to pitch on and ultimately two-putt for bogey. It's about as bad of a start as anyone could imagine for the 29-year-old from Scotland. He's 3 over through five holes and back to 13 under for the tournament, and the World No. 1 is threatening again. Robert MacIntyre's lead is back to two Scottie Scheffler made bogey on No. 3 while MacIntyre made par, then both men made somewhat disappointing pars at the par-5 4th — a hole both players birdied in each of the first three rounds. Robert MacIntyre starts with two bogeys, Scottie Scheffler just one back We have a golf tournament, folks. Robert MacIntyre entered the day with a four-shot lead and after two holes, that lead is just one. MacIntyre made bogey on the par-4 first and the par-3 second, dropping him back to 14 under, while World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler went birdie-par to get to 13 under. It's a nightmare start for MacIntyre and it's evident that Scheffler can smell blood in the water. Scottie Scheffler cuts Robert MacIntyre's lead in half with two-shot swing at No. 1 The final group is off and running Sunday at Caves Valley, and Scottie Scheffler is already putting the pressure on. The World No. 1 threw a dart into the green on the par-4 first hole and rolled in a short-range birdie putt to get to 13 under. Moments later, Robert MacIntyre missed his par putt and suddenly his lead has been cut to just two shots after one hole. Tommy Fleetwood's putt drops after a short wait Wait for it... wait for it... birdie! Tommy Fleetwood moved into the top 5 on the leaderboard with this putt from long range. Rory McIlroy tees off in final round started at the BMW Championship Reigning Masters champ Rory McIlroy has gotten his final round started at the 2025 BMW Championship. McIlroy has had an up-and-down week at Caves Valley, from day-to-day and from hole-to-hole. After a 4-under 66 on Friday, he turned in a rollercoaster round of 71 on Saturday which features four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey. The World No. 2 is also No. 2 in the FedEx Cup Standings, so he has no reason to worry about earning a spot in the Tour Championship next week, and a good round on Sunday could give him a little momentum heading into East Lake, where he's won three times before. McIlroy is playing with Jacob Bridgeman, who is in a battle for a spot in the Tour Championship, sitting at No. 27 in the standings entering Sunday. Keep tabs on who's in and who's out of the top 30 with our live FedEx Cup bubble tracker. Daniel Berger withdraws from BMW Championship Daniel Berger withdrew from the BMW Championship on Sunday morning before his final-round tee time. The 32-year-old cited an injury to his finger as the reason he wouldn't make it to his 10:45 a.m. ET tee time alongside Justin Rose. Read more about Berger's withdrawal from Golfweek's Adam Schupak.
