David Coote given eight-week ban over Jurgen Klopp comments

The FA said he had subsequently admitted the charge.
Coote's misconduct was defined as an aggravated breach under the FA's rules because there was a reference to Klopp's nationality.
An independent Regulatory Commission has imposed an eight-week suspension and mandatory face-to-face education programme on David Coote for a breach of FA Rule E3.

Coote was sacked by Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) last December, a month after the video filmed in July 2020 came to light.
PGMOL said in confirming Coote's dismissal last December that his position had become 'untenable'.
In it, Coote is heard saying it had been 's***' to be fourth official at a Liverpool match in the summer of 2020, describing Klopp as a 'German c***'. He also said Klopp was 'f****** arrogant'.
When the FA charged him over the Klopp comments in June, the governing body said Coote would face no further action in regard to separate allegations of gambling misconduct, which he had strenuously denied. The FA said those allegations had been fully investigated.

Coote was banned by European football's governing body UEFA in February until June 30, 2026 after a different video emerged of him snorting a white powder through a bank note while in Germany for last summer's Euros.
In January, Coote came out as gay in an interview with The Sun and said that a lifelong struggle to hide his sexuality had contributed to the rant about Klopp, and to his drug use.
'My sexuality isn't the only reason that led me to be in that position. But I'm not telling an authentic story if I don't say that I'm gay and that I've had real struggles with hiding that,' he said.
'I hid my emotions as a young ref and I hid my sexuality as well — a good quality as a referee but a terrible quality as a human being. And that's led me to a whole course of behaviours.'
Coote's formal response to the FA charge was detailed in the regulatory commission's written reasons which were published alongside the confirmation of the sanctions imposed.
He accepted his words about Klopp were 'crass, inappropriate and unworthy of the role that he held within the game' and asked the commission to accept that his decision not to attend the hearing was not made out of avoidance, but due to his mental state.
Coote said the words did not respect his true view of Klopp, for whom he had always had a deep professional respect.
The panel wrote: 'DC (Coote) stated that he felt an immense sense of shame. He had lost a career that formed the very core of his identity. He had lost all his income and the media attention had deepened his sense of humiliation and despair.
'He was trying to piece his life back together, from a place of near total collapse.'

Chelsea fans rip into Jamie Carragher as Sky Sports pundit reveals 'hot take' for new season

Jamie Carragher has made a prediction that does not sit well with Chelsea's fans ahead of the new season as the Blues prepare for Champions League action after a spell out of the competition Chelsea fans have slammed Jamie Carragher over his predictions for Chelsea's Champions League campaign. The former Liverpool defender has suggested the Blues will not make it out of the group stage of Europe's premier competition. ‌ Enzo Maresca's side finished fourth in the Premier League to earn their way back into the tournament after two seasons outside of it. The west London team found European success in the UEFA Conference League and followed that up with a win in the Club World Cup in the United States. ‌ But that was not convincing enough to persuade Carragher that Chelsea would be able to follow that up with an exciting return to the Champions League. ‌ "Hot take on Chelsea from me," Carragher said on The Overlap. "I don't think Chelsea will qualify out of the Champions League group stage." That caused some consternation among the panel alongside Carragher. Fellow pundit Jill Scott said: "Oooh, that is a hot take." Chelsea will be expected to progress through the group stage with eight automatic qualifiers from the group of 36. Teams finishing from ninth to 24th enter a play-off around to reach the last 16. Last season, Liverpool topped the standings after their eight matches, while Arsenal were third, Aston Villa were eighth and Manchester City were 22nd. Blues fans did not take kindly to being tipped to not follow in the footsteps of those teams. "This clown is deliberately discrediting @ChelseaFC to gain relevance," one supporter said. "Without Chelsea in everything he says, he's as dumb as his face looks.". ‌ "Carragher has been crying about Chelsea ever since Zola embarrassed him on national television," said another. A further user added: "At this point Carragher is using Chelsea to boost his numbers" "That guy is just an attention seeker," said a social media user. "Forget him. His comment about Chelsea, whether good or bad don't matter to me." It's not the first time that Carragher has prompted Chelsea ire ahead of the new season. ‌ "When I look at Chelsea, I think about what you did in the Club World Cup – everyone wanted to win it,' he told The Overlap Fan Debate. " Real Madrid really wanted to win, PSG did, and so did Manchester City, all those that we class as the best teams. So I do think it's a big thing and it will help build a connection between Enzo Maresca and the supporters, which wasn't really there last season. ‌ "I'm not sure it'll push Chelsea any closer to the title though. When Chelsea do business, over the last couple of years, it feels like a lot of players are changing without anyone really lifting the level. I know Cole Palmer has been amazing, but all your wingers feel the same. "A perfect example is [Jamie] Gittens coming in and Madueke leaving – there is no elevation, and I see that with a lot of positions at Chelsea."

I felt betrayed by Celtic and wasted a year of my career after board ignored transfer bids

The former Hoops ace was unhappy that the Parkhead board refused to sanction two moves Former Celtic keeper Benjamin Siegrist claims he felt BETRAYED by the club after wasting a year of his career in the stands. ‌ The Swiss shotstopper was signed by Ange Postecoglou in 2022 from Dundee United to serve as a deputy for No1 Joe Hart. ‌ He made only a couple of appearances for the Hoops in his debut season before being demoted to third choice under Brendan Rodgers. ‌ Siegrist held a heart-to-heart with Rodgers in the Irishman's first summer back at Parkhead and was told he was free to find another club. He told the Bondi Podcast: "I just wanted to have a chat with the manager, obviously Joe's going to be playing and he said, 'Yeah you're not really for me.' "He said, 'You've not been able to adapt to the system well enough to play,' and I said 'Yeah, fair enough, I understand, I feel it.' "It's hard to do when you never play and in training Joe would get all the reps and I'm like, 'how can I get better if I don't really get the reps?' "I was like 'No problem, this is how football works.' I said 'Can I sort myself out?' He said, 'Yeah, speak to your agent and see what we can do.'" But the 33-year-old claims he was given mixed messages after the club's hierarchy blocked a quick-fire exit - freezing him out of the game until January. ‌ He said: "I had an offer from a team that I was willing to go to. They [Celtic] said yes, initially, then they changed their mind. "Now I was stuck with the transfer window shutting, and again, a lot of people don't get this - they never see me again because I'm not in match day squads because I've been demoted to number three. "It's my job, I'm not complaining, but I felt like I needed to play to get my confidence back. ‌ "It was a team that was playing European football at the time, it was a yes, then the next day it was no, this doesn't work, that doesn't work. "As a player, you're not wanted by the manager, another team wants you, you can go on loan and you've been told to sit as a number three when you could be playing Europa League. "I said it's not ideal but I have a job, I'm employed, I'm going to do my number three role until January and then try again." ‌ Siegrist refused to throw his toys out of the pram and decided to bide his time until the winter window reopened. However, the giant keeper was left frustrated again when the club refused to sanction his exit and, he claims, ignored loan offers from a European team. ‌ Siegirst says he had cleared his locker and was ready to join the unnamed club before the move collapsed due to Celtic's lack of communication. He said: "In January, exactly the same scenario. I had another team going for a league in another country - a top division - playing European football. "I was on holiday, actually, everything was agreed and then I found out that Celtic just hadn't responded to that team in four weeks. ‌ "I spoke to Stevie (Woods) and he said, 'Yeah I think in January you can go.' It always felt like a win-win to everyone. I was still under contract, if they wanted to sell me I'd have higher re-sale value. "I spoke to the new team, the sporting director, the goalie coach, it was a done deal. I was ready to pack up. ‌ "I went on holiday because it's the last season we had a winter break and spoke to my agent and said I hadn't heard anything. "Some people on the Celtic board just didn't respond to enquiries from the other team. Why not? It's a good question. "Ultimately, Celtic did what was best for them; they needed three keepers at base. ‌ "It's not that I wanted to leave Celtic because it's a bad club - I wanted to prove myself and find a loan. "When you go into the office and speak to the manager - there was no problem between me and Brendan Rodgers - it was always respectful. "But there were things going on internally that the message I was getting from the manager was not the same as the board. ‌ "That was really frustrating because ultimately all I wanted to do was play and I was denied that opportunity twice." Siegrist also felt he was being unfairly painted in a bad picture, with fans unaware of his own challenging circumstances. ‌ He said: "It just felt like a lost year because as a number three, you're just training. Fans are saying 'What's he doing,? He's not good enough.' "I'm training as much, even more than the other ones, now I'm getting painted in a bad light. "I'm in a tricky situation where some of the fans don't like you because they think you're a waste of space, when all I wanted was an opportunity to play so I looked for an outside opportunity. ‌ "Half the fans think you're good, half think you're a waste of space and your career is on hold - it's really mentally a difficult space to be. "The hope of playing European football was there and you have to give your list for Champions League football. "We had a lot of transfers and it just wasn't right the way it was handled. ‌ "I was denied to go on loan with the reasoning being we need you for Champions League, you have to have three goalkeepers for Champions League. "When the Champions League list came out they said we can't take you in as we have too many foreigners. "It felt like a kick in the teeth and I felt a little bit betrayed by that. ‌ "But I did my best. I also have an obligation to my teammates to be the best version of myself in training and I was still celebrating the success with them. "You can't be a bad egg, I just don't believe in it. I tried to be the best professional I could be. "Your teammates always understand. But the board didn't understand that. "It's an absolute privilege to play for Celtic but when you have the chance to play somewhere else and accelerate your career and get confidence back, that wasn't really something on their mind." Siegirst was eventually allowed to quit Glasgow last summer as he linked up with Neil Lennon at Romanian club Rapid Bucharest. He's now on the books of Serie A side Genoa.

Lost girl, 6, sexually assaulted at major waterpark after stranger ‘offered to help her before dragging her into woods'

The attack comes after a significant rise in sexual assaults in swimming pools reported in Germany PARK HORROR Lost girl, 6, sexually assaulted at major waterpark after stranger 'offered to help her before dragging her into woods' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A SIX-year-old girl was sexually assaulted after getting separated from her parents at a water park - with the depraved perpetrator still on the run. The horrifying ordeal took place when the suspect approached the child offering to help - but then dragged her to the woods before sexually abusing her. The facility, run by Europa-park, is located in Rust, Baden-Württemberg, near the French border. German police said the sick attack took place on Saturday, August 9, L'Alsace reported. After sexually abusing her, the suspect reportedly left her alone in the woods. She was then found by a local passerby around 10pm the same day. The area she was discovered in was about 5km from the water park, and she was only wearing a swimsuit. The suspect is reportedly a 31-year-old Romanian national. He was living in the local region at the time of the attack, reports say. Cops are desperately continuing their manhunt for the suspect. And they put out an appeal for any information that may lead to his arrest. I was sexually assaulted hundreds of feet in air while on paraglide ride during Tunisia holiday… I felt violated and dirty Police said: "Anyone present in Rulantica or in the wooded area north of the park on Saturday between 8:20 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. who may have noticed the presence of the man and the girl should contact the German authorities." The beloved Rulantica water park can hold a maximum of 6,000 visitors per day. It comes after there were reportedly hundreds of reports of sexual assaults in public swimming pools in Germany - in what has been called an epidemic. In one of the worst hit regions, 74 alleged attacks have been recorded recently with several involving children - including eight young girls in one day. The issue started to raise questions across Germany after a concerning number of reports were made in June. Cops arrested four Syrian suspects, aged 18 to 28, the next month and accused them of sexually assaulting up to eight girls in a public swimming pool in Hesse. The victims were aged between 11 to 16 and had all been at the Barbarossabad pool on the same day. Criminal charges were filed against all of the suspects, who were also been banned from the pool following the harrowing incident.
