Dina El Sherbiny and Amr Youssef's Film "Darwish" Wraps Production, Sets Theatrical Release

Production has wrapped on Egyptian actor Amr Youssef's upcoming film "Darwish' with a theatrical release date slated for July 17.
The cast also includes Dina El Sherbiny, Tara Emad, Mohamed Shahin, Ahmed Abd El Wahab, Mostafa Gharieb, Khaled Kamal, and more.
Waleed El Halfawy directed the pic from a script by Wissam Sabry.
It is co-produced by VOX Studios, One to One Productions, Film Clinic, and Film Square.
'Darwish' marks the sixth collaboration between El Sherbiny and Youssef after "Shaqo" (2024), "Asham Iblis" (2017), "Grand Hotel" (2016), "Kedbet Kol Youm", and "Taraf Talet" (2012).
Youssef, born on December 23, 1980, began his career in entertainment with television commercials and music videos.
Thereafter, veteran actor Nour Al Sherif brought his talents to the public's attention when he was cast in the TV series 'Al Daly' in 2007. Following this crucial step forward, Youssef's career took off.
Since then, he appeared in 'Nour Ainy' (2010), 'Rad Fa'al' (2011), and the popular 2013 Ramadan drama series 'Niran Sadeeka' (Friendly Fire).
Youssef is known for his roles in the films 'Hepta: The Last Lecture', 'Welad Rezk', and 'Rad Faal'.
He is also known for his roles in TV series such as 'Grand Hotel', 'Zarf Aswad', 'Ad Tanazoly', 'Niran Sadeeka', and 'Al Moatn X'.

Wegz Rejects Mass Appeal on ‘Khesert El Sha3b'
The Egyptian rap icon reflects on his current status in the Egyptian rap scene, highlighting that he's cut ties with the people, aka 'el sha3b', in favour of his own artistic vision. Jun 01, 2025 After a brief moment of silence, Egyptian rap superstar Wegz makes a bold statement with his new single, 'Khesert El Sha3b'. Over a chill, laid-back flow, Wegz delivers fiery bars with a nonchalant attitude of someone who is utterly sure of himself. Through clever wordplay and double entendres, changing schemes every four bars, he reflects on his current status in the Egyptian rap scene, highlighting that he's cut ties with the people, aka 'el sha3b', in favour of his own artistic vision. He's simply not chasing after mass appeal - rather, he's driving in his own lane, making the music that he wants to make, irrespective of what people might think of it. The track's intricate production, helmed by Wegz's long-time collaborator Moustafa Moustafa, is minimalist and without unnecessary polish, carried by a classic rap beat with crisp hi-hats, subtle kicks and alterations in the drum loop. Towards the end of the two-minute track, Wegz spits out a sneaky bridge with an indirect reference to Pablo's 'El Mabd2'. With razor-sharp verses, he calls out copycat artists, a brutal diss in response to a heated beef he recently had on social media with two of his contemporaries. Top MENA Artists Push Beyond the 'Female' Prefix at 'Women in Music' Co-hosted by SceneNoise, Little Pink Book, Takwene, and Yellow Tape Records, 'Women in Music' brought together some of Egypt's top artists and music industry professionals. Looking back on the first 'Women in Music' event in Cairo, a first-of-its-kind intimate gathering, co-hosted by SceneNoise, Little Pink Book and Takwene at Yellow Tape Records, Maadi, which brought together some of Egypt's top artists and industry professionals to connect, inspire and celebrate the women shaping the region's music scene. As part of the event program, SceneNoise curated an artist-focused panel, titled 'Beyond the 'Female' Prefix: Artists Pushing the Envelope of the MENA's Music Scene.' At this panel, which was moderated by Munky Elbakry, MO4's Managing Director, the spotlight was on five influential Arab female artists: Maii Waleed, Blu Fiefer, Dina El Wedidi, Perrie, and WAVE. We heard their stories, inspirations, and career journeys, as well as their viewpoints on the region's music industry and what needs to be changed. The panellists also shared valuable insights and key strategies on how emerging female artists can break barriers, grow their careers, assert themselves in the scene and push their music to global prominence. Lebanese artist and founder of the independent record label Mafi Budget, Blu Fiefer, discussed how creating 'female-only' playlists can be limiting, as it boxes artists into a separate category rather than integrating them into mainstream industry conversations. Egyptian folk sensation Dina El Wedidi reflected on the lack of experimentation within the music scene, advising emerging talents to take risks, embrace new sounds, and prioritize their artistic vision instead of playing it safe. She also emphasized the need for social media platforms to support and enable such experimentation.
