US President Donald Trump will reportedly receive a $400 million gold-plated luxury jet from Qatar as a 'gift'. The US president toured the Boeing 747-8 earlier this year and he is now preparing to accept it as a gift from the Qatari royal family.Trump has defended the White House plan to receive a luxury jumbo jet from Qatar to be used as America's Air Force One presidential plane. "They're giving us a gift," Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday, adding that he would be "a stupid person" if he did not accept it.The old video of Trump was dug up an X account, formerly known as Twitter, called 'Call to Activism', which was founded by Attorney Joe Gallina. "We dug up a video of Donald Trump trashing Qatar in 2017, calling them 'funders of terrorism,'" they wrote. "I'm sure he would hate if this clip changed their mind to give him a $400 million plane - so definitely don't repost it."Trump has once again found himself switching sides after he trashed in a recently unearthed speech from 2017. In the speech, Trump can be heard calling the country, which is reportedly giving him $400 million jet, "funders of terrorism", The Irish Star reported."The nation of Qatar has, unfortunately, been a funder of terrorism at a very high level," Trump said outside the White House. "And in the wake of that conference, nations came together and spoke to me about confronting Qatar over its behavior.""So we had a decision to make," Trump blustered on. " Do we take the easy road, or do we finally take a hard but necessary action? We have to stop the funding of terrorists."I decided, along with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, our great generals and military people, that the time had come to call on Qatar to end its funding ... They have to end that funding," Trump added.Trump has been lambasted over allegedly accepting the luxury plane from the Middle Eastern country. Taking to Truth Social, Trump slammed Democrats and others who have slammed the aircraft. "So the fact that the Defense Department is getting a GIFT, FREE OF CHARGE, of a 747 aircraft to replace the 40-year-old Air Force One, temporarily, in a very public and transparent transaction, so bothers the Crooked Democrats that they insist we pay, TOP DOLLAR, for the plane. Anybody can do that! The Dems are World Class Losers!!! MAGA," he posted.'And I think Qatar, who has really — we've helped them a lot over the years in terms of security and safety — I felt they, I think they — and very, very nicely — and I have a lot of respect for the leadership and for the leader.'The offer is 'a very nice gesture,' the president added, telling reporters that he would take the plane. The plane would be donated to the Department of Defense, and Trump stated he would use it only during his time in office—by which point Boeing's aircraft should be completed—before ultimately donating the Qatar jet to his presidential library.'If we can get a 747, as a contribution to our Defense Department to use a couple of years while they're building the other ones, I think that was a very nice gesture. Now I could be a stupid person to say, 'Oh no, we don't want a free plane.'''We give free things out. We'll take one too, and it helps us out. Because, again, we're talking about we have 40-year-old aircraft.'Trump said the leadership of Qatar knew that Boeing has encountered delays building the next generation of the Air Force One aircraft and wanted to help by giving a plane to the US government. He said, 'I could be a stupid person and say we don't want a free plane' but that the gift from Qatar 'helps us out' because the models he currently flies on are decades old.'This was just a gesture of good faith,' Trump said. News of the $400 million gift prompted criticism from some Democrats and Trump allies. Trump said the plane would ultimately be decommissioned and go to his future presidential library. He said he would not fly on it after he leaves office. The offer by Qatar has raised alarms among ethics watchdogs, who have raised questions about the possibility of a quid pro quo expectation of Washington by Doha. Trump lambasted an ABC reporter for raising that criticism Monday, calling it a 'stupid question.''Any gift given by a foreign government is always accepted in full compliance with all applicable laws,' White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. 'President Trump's Administration is committed to full transparency.'Trump will visit Qatar on the second leg of his trip to the Middle East this week. A White House official told The Post Monday that the plane will neither be presented nor accepted during Trump's time in the emirate.

Is the Trump-Musk bromance over? Donald ‘would assume so'

US President Donald Trump said Saturday that his relationship with billionaire Elon Musk is likely over, telling NBC News, 'I would assume so, yeah,' when asked directly about the fallout. In the telephonic interview, Trump also warned of 'serious consequences' if Musk goes ahead with plans to fund Democratic candidates running against Republicans who support Trump's sweeping tax-cut bill. However, Trump declined to elaborate on what those consequences might be. He also said he had not had discussions about whether Musk should be investigated, stating: 'I have not had discussions about that.' The comments mark a sharp turn in what was once considered a powerful alliance between the President and the Tesla and SpaceX chief, now fractured by rifts.

Self-deporting via app? US offers $1,000 and travel aid for undocumented immigrants

The US Embassy in India Saturday again addressed foreign nationals in the United States announcing incentives for those willing to leave. In a post on X, the US Embassy warned international individuals illegally present in the country to leave immediately. However, it followed this message with what it called a 'historic opportunity for foreign nationals who wish to leave the United States, including those unlawfully present.' The statement said: 'Depending on their circumstances, they might receive financial and other assistance from the US government to depart.' Those interested have been directed to register through the Trump administration's self-deportation Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Home App. The US government is promoting the CBP Home App for its incentives tied to voluntary exits of illegal immigrants. US Secretary of Homeland Security described self-deportation as the 'best, safest and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest.' Currently, the DHS claims that the average cost to arrest, detain and deport someone from the US is $17,121, The Guardian reported. According to the official Homeland Security website, incentives tied to self-deportation include a $1,000 stipend, and financial and travel document assistance. The stipend is granted once confirmation is received through the CBP Home App that the return has been completed. Those who voluntarily register may also receive help with booking tickets and obtaining necessary travel documentation. 'Aliens requesting assistance will have a timely departure arrangement facilitated for them (estimated departure to be within 21 days of approval),' the website states. Other incentives include a longer departure period for self-funded travellers, deprioritisation for detention or removal by ICE, and improved chances for future immigration options. The DHS outlines two eligible categories: 'Non-criminal aliens illegally in the United States who had an encounter with CBP either at a port of entry or between ports of entry' and 'categorical parolees whose legal presence in the United States has expired or will soon expire.' Applicants must be physically present in the US at the time of applying. Just days earlier, the US Embassy in India had issued another alert for visa overstayers, warning they 'risk arrest and heavy fines or incarceration… may be deported and could face a permanent ban on future travel to the United States.'

Social Security June 2025: Stimulus checks could be delayed this month - Here's why

Workers at the Social Security Administration (SSA) are raising concerns that some people might see delays in their payments over the next few weeks. The warning comes as the agency shifts its focus to nearly 900,000 complicated cases. SSA employees told USA Today that this change in focus could mean late or missing checks for thousands of Americans. These delays could affect people making routine updates to their accounts, like changing a bank or home address. This is important because nearly 70 million Americans depend on Social Security each month for essentials like rent, groceries, and healthcare. The agency is currently carrying out changes tied to the Social Security Fairness Act, which was passed under former President Donald Trump's administration. The law gives benefits to people who paid into the system but were previously not eligible—such as teachers, police officers, firefighters, and other public workers. Drew Powers, founder of Illinois-based Powers Financial Group said, "More than 2 million of these cases were straightforward enough to be automated, but the remaining 900,000 claims are more complicated and must be approved by hand," as quoted by Newsweek report. Although the White House says these updates should not affect current Social Security payments, SSA workers say there may still be delays for routine changes, like updating direct deposit info or sorting out Medicaid billing. Employees have been told to prioritize the remaining cases under the Fairness Act. "Using automation, SSA has already expedited over $15.1 billion in long-delayed retroactive payments to more than 2.3 million individuals affected," White House spokesperson Liz Huston said previously. SSA workers also say they've been given a deadline of July 1 to complete the updates, which is creating a backlog and slowing down responses to other types of requests.
