ED files chargesheet against Robert Vadra in Shikohpur land deal case
This is the first time a chargesheet has been filed by any investigative agency against 56-year-old Vadra in a criminal matter. According to the report, the ED has filed the complaint in a local court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Vadra was questioned by the agency for three consecutive days in April.
Shikohpur land deal case
The case concerns a land transaction involving Skylight Hospitality Pvt Ltd, a company in which Vadra was previously a director. In February 2008, the company purchased 3.5 acres of land in Shikohpur, Gurugram (then Manesar-Shikohpur, now sector 83), from Onkareshwar Properties for Rs 7.5 crore.
At the time, Haryana was governed by the Congress under then chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Four years later, in September 2012, Skylight Hospitality sold the land to real estate firm DLF for Rs 58 crore.
The deal became controversial in October 2012 when senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka, then serving as director general of land consolidation and land records-cum-inspector general of registration in Haryana, cancelled the land mutation. He stated the transaction violated provisions of the state's consolidation act and related procedures.
Robert Vadra rejects allegations
Vadra has consistently maintained that he has done nothing wrong. He has described the case as a "political vendetta" aimed at targeting him and his family, which includes former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and current Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
Apart from the Shikohpur land deal, the ED is also probing Vadra in two other cases. One is related to UK-based arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari, and the other involves a separate land deal in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

Trump's claims on ceasefire 'humiliating' for country, says Kharge in RS
Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday termed US President Donald Trump's repeated claims that he mediated between India and Pakistan to bring about a ceasefire during Operation Sindoor in May as "humiliating" for the country, and asked the government for a clarification on the issue. Kharge, and other Congress party members also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should give answers to the issues raised by them regarding the Pahalgam terror attack and Trump's claims on ceasefire during Operation Sindoor. The House witnessed a brief adjournment due to opposition uproar during the Zero Hour, and also a walkout by Congress when the Rajya Sabha reassembled for the Question Hour at 12 noon. Kharge, along with several opposition members in the Rajya Sabha, had submitted adjournment notices (under Rule 267) to take up discussion on the terror attack in Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor after suspending the listed business of the day. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, the Congress President made a case for a two-day debate on the Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor, alleged security lapses and foreign policy. "The Prime Minister should answer," he demanded. Recalling that the Pahalgam terror attack that took place on April 22, Kharge lamented that the terrorists who carried the attack have neither been caught nor killed till date. Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha himself has admitted that there has been a lapse in Pahalgam, he added. Kharge said all political parties had given unconditional support to the government. "In such a situation, we want to know from the government what is the complete situation?," he said. The senior Congress leader further said the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Deputy Army Chief and one of the senior Defence Attache have made some revelations regarding Operation Sindoor. "Apart from this, the government should also clarify its stand on the statement of US President Donald Trump, because he has claimed not once but 24 times that he got the ceasefire done. This is humiliating for the country," he said. Responding to Kharge's demands, Leader of the House and Union Minister J P Nadda asserted that the government was ready to discuss all issues related to Operation Sindoor. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar also assured agitating Opposition MPs that he will ensure a full-fledged discussion on the issue for as much time as members want. Dhankhar said he will discuss the issue with leaders of various parties, as he adjourned the House proceedings briefly till 12 noon amid uproar by Opposition benches. When the House met at 12 noon for the scheduled Question Hour, the Congress party again raised the issue, and later staged a walkout from the House in protest. Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, 2025, in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, launched a calibrated, tri-services response that embodied precision, professionalism, and purpose. Operation Sindoor was conceived as a punitive and targeted campaign to dismantle the terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan. A ceasefire was announced on May 10.

Kerala Woman Found Dead In UAE Flat, Family Alleges Dowry Harassment
A 29-year-old woman from Kerala was found dead in her apartment in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday, with her family alleging that she was harassed by her husband over dowry. Athulya, 29, was found dead in her flat in Sharjah. She got married to Sateesh in 2014, when she was 14. Her mother has alleged that Satheesh choked Athulya, kicked her stomach, and hit her head with a plate between July 18 and July 19, leading to her death. Her family said they had given Satheesh over 40 sovereigns of gold and a bike. A murder case has been filed against Satheesh. Rising Suicide Cases Over Dowry Harassment Earlier this month, a 32-year-old Kerala woman was found dead with her toddler in Sharjah, with the police filing a case against her husband and in-laws. Vipanchika Maniyan -- a native of Kollam district -- allegedly died by suicide at her apartment on July 8. Her one-year-old daughter was also found dead. According to a report, a handwritten note in Malayalam -- believed to have been written by the dead woman -- was found in the house, detailing emotional distress and allegations of abuse. Maniyan's family has also accused her husband, Nidheesh Valiyaveettil, and his family of physical and mental harassment. They reportedly got married in 2020 and moved to Sharjah. Her mother claimed that following her marriage, Maniyan was regularly harassed over dowry, humiliated over her appearance, and isolated by her husband and in-laws. In a separate case, a woman in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat, allegedly facing harassment by her in-laws over dowry, died by suicide earlier this week. 28-year-old Manisha, who got married to Kundan, a resident of Noida, in 2023, also left a suicide note written on her body. In the note written on her arm, legs, and stomach with a pen, she expressed the pain she was going through due to the harassment by Kundan and his family. "Kundan and his family are responsible for my death," she wrote in Hindi. She alleged they repeatedly asked her for a car and a huge amount of cash, despite her family spending Rs 20 lakh for the wedding and already having given a Bullet motorcycle in dowry.
