City Council for daytime curfew on heavy traffic
The session, where Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and Municipal Commissioner Afzal Zaidi were also in attendance, also expressed concerns regarding road accidents caused by the alleged negligence of the "dumper mafia."
The council members demanded a complete ban on the entry of heavy traffic in the city during daytime to prevent such incidents. A resolution presented by Hafiz Mubashir-ul-Haq, Junaid Makati, Farhan Baig, and Taimur Ahmed further stressed the need for a ban on heavy traffic during fixed hours. It also called for public transport, rickshaws, and Qingqi rickshaws to only stop at designated places.
Another important resolution was about the management of slaughterhouses, which the council suggested be operated under a public-private partnership for renovation and better efficiency. This resolution was referred to a committee for further evaluation.

Hub dam project to be inaugurated by Aug 13, says Murtaza Wahab
Listen to article Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced on Wednesday that the Hub Dam water supply project will be inaugurated on August 13. Speaking to media outside the Supreme Court Karachi Registry, Wahab said propaganda was being spread using old videos regarding the new canal supplying water from Hub Dam to the city. "After 22 years, it is due to the efforts of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) that the city is receiving additional water," he said. He stated that the project, completed at a cost of Rs12.8 billion within a record time of 10 months, is ready for inauguration. 'If the propaganda were true, this inauguration would not be happening,' he said. The mayor clarified that work on the project has been completed and that trial runs are standard procedure before launching large-scale initiatives. 'Such issues are common in concrete work, and the purpose of testing is to detect and resolve problems beforehand,' he said. Wahab added that a one-year warranty period has been set post-completion, under which the contractor is responsible for any required repairs. He dismissed allegations against the project as baseless. 'All standards were maintained during construction. The noise of propaganda is drowning out the news of additional water supply to the city,' he said. Read: No end to water woes as K-IV hits another snag 'Propaganda is being spread to sabotage the water supply project.' He said the Hub Dam had previously supplied 100 million gallons of water daily to Karachi, but due to a 45-year-old transmission system, the supply had fallen to 60 million gallons per day. 'The new canal project will again deliver 100 million gallons of water daily,' he said. 'After this, the old canal will be repaired. Once both systems are functional, the water supply from Hub to Karachi will be doubled.' The project is expected to benefit residents of District West, Keamari, and Central. Commenting on federal funding, Wahab referred to earlier statements by the Governor of Sindh. 'He said on TV that Rs40 billion have been received from the federal government. I remind him that he had promised Rs100 billion. If Rs40 billion have been received, transfer them to the KMC account and serve the city.' He also criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), saying that 'China-cutting,' land commercialization, and resource plundering are remnants of its era. 'We also remember the body bags, extortion, and kidnappings for ransom,' he said. 'The city's fundamental problems began during MQM's time.' Wahab expressed his willingness to work with other parties for the city's development. 'The city's hopes are tied to its political leaders,' he said. 'We want chaos to end. Everyone must work together for the betterment of Karachi.' He added, 'I am ready to sit with MQM, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), or Jamaat-e-Islami for the betterment of the city.'

He contrasted this with previous administrations, alleging unfulfilled promises and ineffective slogans of change. He further announced the redirection of heavy traffic away from the city centre through Shahrah-e-Bhutto to Kathore, with the Kathore segment to be inaugurated by Chairman Bhutto Zardari on December 31, 2025. Land record digitalisation initiatives: CM Sindh reviews progress
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, presiding over a meeting of Land Administration & Revenue Management Information System (LARMIS), directed the Board of Revenue (BoR) to integrate the e-Mutation system with the e-Registration system and expedite the progress on the e-transfer system to improve service delivery. The meeting, held at CM House, was attended by Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, PSCM Agha Wasif, Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi, Secretary Local govt Waseem Shamshad, Members Board of Revenue Omar Farooq Bullo and Saleem Baloch, and Secretary-cum-Director LARMIS Saifullah Abro and others. The CM said that LARMIS was established to provide citizens with computerised access to land records and related services throughout the province. With 27 dedicated People's Service Centres (PSCs) across district headquarters and a comprehensive online platform via the Board of Revenue's official website, the system ensures easy access to vital land information. During the briefing, the CM was told that Modern IT infrastructure supports daily operations, while a state-of-the-art Data Centre located at Revenue House Clifton, Karachi, serves as the central repository for digitised land records. Moreover, a Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC) in Hyderabad guarantees service continuity during emergencies. The digitisation process, which commenced in 2010 with the scanning of old records from 1985 to 2010, secures Forms VII-A, VII-B, and Form II collected from all Mukhtiarkar offices. Continuous scanning and indexing of post-2010 records at the Provincial Record Centre (PRC) in Hyderabad ensures ongoing public accessibility through integrated networks. LARMIS has further expanded its capabilities by offering digital access to government offices and statutory bodies for land title verification. It may be noted, the introduction of e-Registration services at PSCs has enhanced service delivery, with plans underway for the integration of an e-Mutation system. Launched in February 2024, the e-Registration system currently operates across 51 Sub-Registrar offices, facilitating registration services through the PSCs. By July 2025, over 100,000 documents and deeds have been successfully registered through this innovative system. Furthermore, the Board of Revenue Sindh is collaborating with Sukkur IBA University on the development of an 'E-Transfer of Property System,' which aims to secure revenue records through blockchain technology, thereby making property transactions more accessible and user-friendly.
