Halifax drivers ticketed for ignoring closed on-ramp, entering scene of crash: police
Halifax Regional Police says several drivers were ticketed for ignoring a closed on-ramp and entering the scene of single-vehicle crash in the city Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to the collision on Highway 102 between exits 1A and 1H around 7:20 a.m.
Police closed a section of the Exit 1H on-ramp by putting a marked police vehicle across the road with its lights on.
The closure was in place to block traffic and allow police, paramedics and firefighters to respond to the scene.
Police say, despite the on-ramp being blocked, eight vehicles drove onto the shoulder of the road to get around the police vehicle and onto the highway.
The drivers also allegedly ignored officers' verbal and physical directions before they were pulled over.
Fifteen summary offence tickets were issued, including eight for failing to obey a peace officer.
The fine for failing to obey a peace officer is $237.50 in Nova Scotia.
Police say some drivers were also issued tickets for not providing their driver's licence or proof of insurance.
