PMK criticises government over TN's poor JEE results
CHENNAI: Expressing concern over TN's poor JEE (Advanced) pass percentage, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss has urged the government to strengthen the state board school curriculum.
His statement came following a TNIE report titled 'TN lags behind southern neighbours in JEE advanced pass percentage.'
In a release on Wednesday, Anbumani highlighted that Tamil Nadu has slipped to the third-lowest position among states in the IIT-JEE (Advanced) 2025. He said the results have come as a jolt to the state, with only 1,859 of the 7,787 candidates from Tamil Nadu clearing the exam, translating to a pass rate of just 23.9%. Only Kerala and Bihar fared worse than TN.
He said in stark contrast, West Bengal topped the list with a pass percentage of 35.3, followed by Punjab (34.7), Rajasthan (34.5), Maharashtra (32.4), and Haryana (32). The PMK blamed the government for failing to strengthen the state board syllabus to align with national standards.

TIRUNELVELI: PMK president Dr Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday urged CM MK Stalin to order an inquiry into the allegation of Rs 90 cr loot committed every year by officials and contractors of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD ) Board who pay only 40% to 50% wages to workers. The TNIE carried a detailed report about the issue on Friday. In a post on his 'X' handle, Anbumani said it was condemnable that no action has been taken against those responsible for the scam, which has been going on for over 20 years. 'There is no greater crime or sin in the world than embezzling wages meant for contract workers. The Tamil Nadu government must order a fair inquiry into this scam. Those behind it must be identified,' he demanded. The PMK leader said, 'A total of 11,597 workers, including electricians, pumping operators, and maintenance assistants, are employed on a contract basis in the TWAD Board. Their wages are paid to the contractors, who then disburse it to the workers. The accusation is that contractors, who receive a minimum wage of Rs 15,401 or more per worker, pay only Rs 7,500 to Rs 9,800 and embezzle the remaining amount.'

Anbumani proposes president post for himself, ‘veto' for dad
Chennai: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss has proposed to party founder S Ramadoss a compromise formula that gives him the official leadership and his father a virtual veto power on party policies and decisions, multiple sources told TOI. At the 45-minute meeting between the warring father-son, sources said, Anbumani did much of the talking while the senior maintained a studied silence. At the end of it, Ramadoss remained non-committal. Anbumani's associates said the meeting was a sudden decision. "Ayya (Ramadoss) was unaware of the visit till our president (Anbumani) arrived at the Thailapuram farmhouse," said an Anbumani supporter. "He (Anbumani) tried to reason that he was the cadres choice and that of the elected general council, and he is open to accepting his father's decisions, including those on alliances and party nominees. " Sources said there was not much discussion on P Mukundan, the grandson of Ramadoss, who resigned from the post of youth wing secretary last week, and whose appointment had triggered a war of words between the father and the son. "That's now a closed chapter," said the source. "The party founder was non-committal.
