Katz vows to strengthen control over Jerusalem, including Aqsa Mosque
"Israeli" Defense Minister Israel Katz pledged on Sunday to reinforce "Israel's" sovereignty over Jerusalem, including the Aqsa Mosque compound. Speaking on the social media platform X, Katz said, 'Israel's detractors worldwide continue to make decisions against us and organize protests, but we will strengthen our sovereignty over Jerusalem… forever and ever' ביקרתי כעת בכותל המערבי. Israel Katz (@Israel_katz) August 3, 2025 The statement came after "Israeli" National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, a far-right figure, visited the Aqsa compound earlier the same day. During his visit, Ben-Gvir called for the 'complete' occupation of Gaza and the declaration of "Israeli" sovereignty over the territory, which has been devastated by nearly two years of ongoing war. The Aqsa compound is managed by a Jordanian religious institution under longstanding 'status quo' arrangements, allowing Jewish visitors but prohibiting Jewish prayer at the site.

"Israeli" army links 16 soldier suicides in 2025 to war trauma
The "Israeli" Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) reported on Sunday that the "Israeli" army has acknowledged a link between the rise in suicides among soldiers, including reservists, and the ongoing multi-front war the country is currently engaged in. An internal military investigation, cited by the broadcaster, found that most recent suicide cases were tied to traumatic experiences soldiers endured, the loss of comrades, and difficulty coping with the psychological aftermath of combat. The report said the military investigated each suicide case individually, reviewing farewell letters left behind and speaking with the soldiers' families and friends to understand the circumstances. A senior military official told Kan: 'Most of the suicides among soldiers were a result of the complex reality of the war. War has consequences.'

Jordan condemns Ben-Gvir's incursion into Aqsa Mosque as 'provocative escalation'
Jordan's Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs has issued a strong condemnation following a visit by far-right 'Israeli' Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir to Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif on Sunday, denouncing it as a serious violation of international law and the sanctity of Islamic holy sites. The ministry said Ben-Gvir's presence at the site, accompanied by Israeli Occupation police, was 'an unacceptable provocation and a condemned escalation,' stressing that 'Israel' holds no sovereignty over the mosque compound. 'This is a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law,' the ministry stated. Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufyan Qudah reiterated Jordan's categorical rejection of the repeated stormings of Al-Aqsa by 'Israeli' extremists and settlers, facilitated by 'Israeli' police. He emphasized that such actions threaten the historical and legal status quo of the site and are part of attempts to divide it both spatially and temporally. 'These actions are a desecration of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque,' Qudah said. He also warned of the broader consequences of these repeated provocations, not only for Islamic but also Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem. 'Israel, as the occupying power, must immediately stop the provocative behavior of this extremist minister, whose actions reflect the current Israeli government's dangerous and unilateral policies in the occupied West Bank,' he added. The ministry reaffirmed that the entire 144-dunum area of Al-Aqsa Mosque is a sacred Islamic site and a place of worship exclusively for Muslims. It also reiterated that the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, through the Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, is the sole legal authority responsible for the administration of the mosque and for overseeing entry into it.
